Only a matter of time before there's similar pressure on Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and Washington Wizards.

I assume that you mention the last two as a joke.

I would have thought it made sense for Washington (who have always been the team I’d follow in NFL) to have changed the name & done a full rebrand linked with actually getting a better team on the field

I thought you preferred to redact this "pro-slavery/genocidal" name or have you had a change of heart wrt the first President of the USA. ;)

Washington Klansmen

Too similar to the Washington Wizards.

Aside from the name note the 3 stars one by one (311) with the centre one in Confederate grey, and Klansman hood shape in the middle of the logo.

It was nearly dinner time, I wasn't concentrating. ☹

Washington obviously has to go. Owned slaves, had a stupid wig. Columbus was a twat, so DC anything is out. Queen Mary probably had slaves, so forget Maryland. Potomac is a Europeanised spelling of a Native American word so that's cultural appropriation and therefore no good.

They need something that will engage their fanbase and get everyone else onside, too.

Fuck The Cowboys Football Club.

Job done.

Plus I'm not sure Virgins is the most intimidating nickname.

They've chosen their new name.

Ladies and gentleman introducing, The Washington Football Team

*I know it's temporary but it is impressively shit.

I'm sure myself and UKRS, among others, have been calling them that for years. We should jointly sue for copyright.

It's very bland. I suppose it is hard to offend anyone with that name though.

Is Tottingham's ground still called Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Apparently so, they're still trying to flog the naming rights.

Since at least 2013 :)

Uproar at the end of the game between the New York Football Giants and the Washington Football Team.

The Washington Football Team thought they had a First Down and the chains were moved but the on field official signaled third down. Shanahan wanted to challenge the on field ruling but says that an official told him not to bother as it was a First Down. A play was run and the on field official then signaled Fourth Down.

All a bit confusing
