The introduction of extended payment terms to spread the cost of your season card was greeted warmly by our season card holders last term but this season we've made it even better!
All Zebra Finance applicants will be able to pay for their season card(s) INTEREST FREE and from March, season card holders will be able to spread the cost of their season card across a maximum of nine months.

Welcome Pack
Last season saw the introduction of a raft of benefits which season ticket holders used in their droves.
With free AVTV, free pies, drinks and discounts galore, season card package provided the best value ever at Villa Park...and it's back bigger-and-better than ever.
What's more, season card holders will continue to be entered into EXCLUSIVE draws with the chances to win pitch-side visits and tours of Bodymoor Heath.
There will be the added incentive to buy quickly when supporters who purchase their season seat before June 1 will be entered into a draw to join the first team on our pre-season tour!
Try It, Like It!
Considering relocating to another area of the ground for the 2012-13 season? Don't want to lose your current seat but might be ready for a change? Then why not 'Try It, Like it'?

I'm sure it starts earlier every year.
-
Not really sure why, but I can see a significant drop in sales for next season.
-
Crikey. It's barely March and they're pimping them already?
-
Pressures on for a good performance on Saturday! Difficult to launch season tickets after a drab draw or perish the thought a defeat!
-
Should be discounted
-
Crikey. It's barely March and they're pimping them already?
Maybe they want to guage take up early so any 'action' poor sales may force them into can be done sonner rather than late summer?
-
It also improves cash flow, and would give the bank balance a boost before the end of the financial year.

Ha ha ha.
It'd be nice to think that, but i doubt it.

I really hope that's the case....
They must realise something's up, why else start so early?
-
So they've had to offer match tickets at reduced prices for every home game this season to get a decent(ish) crowd and they still haven't seen fit to reduce season ticket prices. Can't say I'm impressed.
-
Try it - Like it?
Seen that somewhere before...
-
So they are planning to raise ticket prices for next season!
I can't justify paying at the current level, let alone at a higher level!
-
Ignoring the fooball reasons for a second.
If I renew early, I pay the same price as last year. If not, it will cost me £10 more for my ticket. £10 for the year.
Where is the incentive to renew early? To save myself £10?
If next years prices for new ST holders were significantly higher, there would be an understandable reason to renew early, but for the sake of a tenner...whats the point?
-
I was going to say maybe they should wait until were on a winning streak before releasing ticket details but then I thought about that statement...
-
I've had a look at the website with the details on and something doesn't make sense to me.
This season we moved from A3 to A2, because of a saving of around £60. A3 was considered a premium seat because it was close to the half way line. In actual fact, although we moved about 10 rows back, in terms of where we were situated in relation to the pitch, it wasn't much different.
Now if I have got this correct, they have changed A3 seats to the same price as A2 and therefore they will be circa £60 cheaper this year than last?
So if you are sat in section A2, you have a right Brucie Bonus !!!
As someone said, not sure a tenner makes it worth renewing early. I will keep my powder dry and see how the summer plays out before committing I think. As SOTC said though, there have been a number of deals this year which season ticket holders haven't had and yet the price stays the same?. Hardly an incentive?

Not just that but...
Earlybird Price Freeze
Anyone who purchases their seat before June 1 can guarantee THE best value as they will benefit from a price freeze...at 2011-12 season prices.
So prices might be going up if you renew after that point? That's shocking.
-
On a positive note they slashed the North stand lower seats back to prices of 2007

They ARE going up after that point between £10 and £15 I think.
-
If they scrapped that welcome pack few people really care about they could probably save that £10-15 themselves.
-
We haven't even used this season's welcome pack so don't want next season's thanks.
-
The second week in March ffs!!! If we were in any doubt that the club are frightened to death about the number of folks that won't renew then this is the proof.
-
Disappointing they've raised them yet again, by a tenner in all parts of the ground.
Very happy though to see they've introduced a new cheapskate season ticket for some of the corner bits of the stands.
£295. That works out at less than 15 quid a game so think I'll be getting one. Can't care where I sit so that will do I think as the club will probably stop the cheap matchday deals as I would expect the 2 000 tickets on offer to be taken so that will offset a little the decline in general season ticket sales.
-

If I was a dwarf, i'd consider sitting there.
-
As others have said, no real incentive to renew early, and disappointed they haven't come up with something to encourage us to stump up for a ST up front rather than going for match-by-match deals. Saving £10 won't see me rushing to the ticket office before June 1st.
Like Pauline, the 'welcome pack' was no use to me. Money is extremely tight for me now and to keep going to games I've had to really cut my match day spending - taking sandwiches and drink rather than buying at the ground (so the BOGOF drink no use), no longer buying a programme (so £1 off a programme no use), no longer going to away games (so £2 off an away trip no use), I've not watched AVTV (let's be honest - the games have had precious few highlights to merit watching them again), and I can't afford to buy merchandise (so the £5 there was no use). The seat and car stickers are still in the box. I'd rather have £20 off my ST than a box of PR tricks.
I'll be waiting til the very last minute, and if the people I sit with don't renew there's a real chance I won't either - the banter with mates is the best part of the day lately.
-
How come they've ditched the 'Proud history, bright future' tagline???
-
Perhaps they realise we aren't daft enough to swallow it anymore
-
I'm just off to buy a sleeping bag. Might spend the night on Trinity Road to beat the rush!
-
Looking at the prices, would I be right in thinking they're scrapping the under21 ticket for next season? :(
EDIT: Ignore me, just seen "young adult"... It's been a long day...
-
Considering relocating from K5 to P8. £295 as opposed to £520.
-
We haven't even used this season's welcome pack so don't want next season's thanks.
Same here. I don't even know what I'd have got
-
Neither do I.
-
295 is not bad, but my daughter has no interest in going down anymore, so won't be bothering.
-

Have sat in P8 only downer is you are right next to the away fans and a fair amounting of meerkating goes on as well as general abuse. Sit in P1 now, cheap and still a decent view.

Just found my welcome pack out to look at what was in there, apart from the vouchers for a free tea and a free pie it looks like most of them have expired.
I think they might be scrapping the 'reserved season ticket holder' sticker off a few seats in the summer.

I've pretty much decided on this option now and hope to get a seat as close to the P7 block and near the front as I can.
-
I'm also going to see if I can do the 'try it before you buy it' idea at the Stoke and MartinO'Neill'sSunderland matches.
-
I'm applying for a "Try Before You Buy" seat positioned just behind the Stand for the Sturk game.
-
I might try the Trinity Road before Sunderland...
-
There are going to be a lot of existing season ticket holder going for those cheapies, once they are gone will those that don't get them renew.
We'll be lucky to get 18,000 this coming season.
-
Mine's gone down £40, which is an unexpected but pleasant surprise.

Lee, they're doing the cheap season tickets in the lower Holte/ Trinity corner aswell.
I'd say that bit right next to the away fans is the one area to avoid really.
-
Yes I know, but the views from there are rather restricted.
-
Yes I know, but the views from there are rather restricted.
Just move to a better empty seat once the game kicks off. I have a suspicion there might be a few to choose from.
-
I could do exactly the same from P8.
-
I could do exactly the same from P8.
Depends where you want to sit. Possibly the Lower North will be the only area where it won't be a doddle to move to a better seat come kick off.
-
I could always jump.
-
I've felt like doing that a few times this season. But not to a better seat.
-

Same price as this year £360.
-
I have decided not to renew, so that's mine my wife's and my sons ST that are nt being renewed.
-
£530, that's about £7 an attack!
When will they realise the only people who can afford to pay for something five months before they need it are the ones who will be out on the pitch.
-

I can remember people on here falling over themselves to pay upfront on the day they've gone on sale.
-
So if it gets into july and i have not renewed (C3) Trinity lower, the club ring me up and try to persuade me to renew, are they really going to argue with me if i refuse to pay the extra£10. I doubt it. Under the supply and demand rules of commodity selling the club are in a very weak position regarding season tickets, they may need to take what they can get.
-

I used the free pie and drinks vouchers. I gave the programme discount vouchers to my mate who always buys one (and which I borrow on rare occasions to check something).
Didn't look at what else was in the box.
Add me to the list that wants this scrapped.

The phone rings.......
Hello Mr.TLP this is Nicola Keye, would you like a season ticket for next season?
Err, not really they are too expensive.
But we have a special offer, you just pay what you think it's worth.
In that case I'll have half a dozen plus a cheque for £2000.

I don't think it does any harm, but I do think the club see it as having more value than it does. When I got my call from the TO the other week (see that thread, wherever it has gone) they spent a while asking my what I thought of the welcome pack and what I used etc etc, and you could tell they seem to think it is a great selection of offers.
The only one i used was the money off thing in the shop, and i only used the shop as it was my godson's birthday, which is the only time I ever use the shop every year.
Having said that, I can see why kids might think it is nice to have (in fact, that one with the DVD with the military music the other year was quite impressively done), but if you don't buy food or drink in the ground, the vouchers have pretty much no impact on the attractiveness of the ST or otherwise.
-
I know I will cough and splut and moan but end up renewing anyway
-
We're not the only club releasing season tickets this early. When I was watching the fulham game at the weekend their advertising boards around the pitch were advertising their 2012/2013 season ticket sales too.
With regards the "pack" we got last year, I've not used a single thing. Not the vouchers, stickers. Was there a DVD too? I can't remember. I haven't even used AVTV. I registered for it but never used it.
For me, I'm interested in my season ticket. Not all the add ons that the club think will help justify the money we spend on it. Give me my ticket and entertaining football is all I want. The rest then would follow. No need to entice me with vouchers as if it's a good game and you're then in the mood, you stay back and have some beers. At the moment I turn up late and leave bang on full time not wanting to hang around. Plus the food in the holte end is that shockingly bad, that even giving me a voucher for a free burger won't make me have one again. They are vile.
-
I'm not renewing as my wife and I are expecting our first child in April, so wont be affording it for a while. I'll be at the odd cheap game when I can afford to, but of course my priorities are going to shift somewhat from spending money going to watch 22 overpaid blokes kicking a bag of wind about, to having a family and all that comes with it. Still, I'm looking forward to starting it all up again in 5-10 years time and bringing my boy along with me. Who knows, we might be good again then!

Good luck with it Glasses although number 2 will be around by then if you follow my pattern and my boy is a lot less interested than my girl! He is 4 and has time to learn, but only wants to go to Villa if he can play.
-
Does anyone seriously believe they could take money off the price of the season ticket if they didn't provide the welcome pack? The buy one get one free vouchers are there to make you "buy one". The free pie is in the hope that once you've tried one, next time you are at the game you might want another pie. The £5 for the shop is in the hope that you'll go in and buy something for £15, or decide your £45 replica shirt has suddenly become a bargain now you can get £5 off, and so they make another sale.
The fact that so many here are saying that they haven't even used ay of it just goes to prove that at worst it costs the club nothing. At best they make more sales on the back of it.
I can't honestly believe anyone is genuinely saying "do away with all these freebies and make my season ticket cheaper". The welcome pack is meant to get more money out of you whilst providing some kind of "feelgood factor", and on that level it probably works for many people. They can't give you the money instead, it doesn't really exist.
-
I renewed today. Got moved from K5 to P8 quite easily. I only went in to the ticket office to buy a ticket for the Chelsea match for my friend. I asked about renewing on Monday over the 'phone and they said I could do it there and then. Sorted!

We're moving to there from the middle trinity. Jon sorted it yesterday. What row and seat number you got, legion?
Between the four of us we've saved £1,000. It had to be done.

I was in P5 today: fantastic view.
If P8 is anything like the experience I had today, you should consider wrapping yourself in bandages and playing a mummy. I have seen more life in a bottle of pop.
-
We're used to it. It's not much different in the middle trinity.
We just decided that we spend enough on football and any saving has to be done. Thoses seats were too good to refuse at that price.
The added advantage is that we have access to the Lions Club before and after the game and at half time.

I'm sure my ticket has gone down in price.
-
Moved to P8 myself yesterday. One phone call and saved £75 (moving from North Stand Lower) . Ok I have had to pay earlier than I would have normally done but on £295 I wouldn't have got that £75 in interest by June 1 etc. £15.52 a game = Bargain !!
-
I renewed in K7 yesterday. Regarding the free pack, I did appreciate the free AVTV subscription as it was something I'd been paying for separately up to then. They've been showing some live reserve games recently, if that continues then I'll appreciate it even more. It was a decent game last night.

Are you Somerset Lions Bob? Glad you will be joining us in P8.
-
Fair play to those renewing already, I am envious of your commitment to the club although I can't say I'm envious of you having the ticket itself.
We've already agreed not to renew if McLeish stays. This season has felt like a prison sentence we've had to see out one game at a time.
-
My mate got up early doors on Monday, and we are in P8. What a snip at £295 for a season it equals £15.50 per match. Given that a Category AA in the same seats per game are at present £47 its a brilliant offer.

Wish I could find a gift horse at Cheltenham.
-
Do you think it would possible/logical to give season ticket holders some free tickets for their mates?
There are loads of games where the club offer special deals, which must grate with the season ticket holders as their loyalty is slightly devalued.
I think it would be a good idea to give some season ticket holders a pair of free tickets so that they can invite some of the "dormant" fans. Hopefully there'll be a small increase in hotdog sales etc and the ground will be closer to capacity etc etc etc. And it rewards the most loyal fans.
-
Does anybody know what the official position is with regard to the £295 tickets, are there any left?

If the first 1000 have gone, there will be another 1000 for current non-season ticket holders. Give them a call anyway. They are eager to sell.

I didn't renew this season and haven't been to a game all year. It's very easy to get out of the habit of going!
I asked my lad the other day (he's 6) -
"Do you fancy going to one of the Villa games in the next couple of weeks son?"
Son. "No Dad"
Me: "Why not mate?"
Son: "it's boring Dad, can we go bowling instead?"
Broke my heart.

I'm pretty sure when I was young I tried that line on my dad, before being given a stern bollocking and being dragged kicking and screaming to the ground.

Dont ask next time, then he wont have the option of saying no. Just take him, and thats the end of the argument. Stop being so nice, its the only way !
-
My view of the advertising boards was partly obscured when I first saw the season ticket sales banner. All I saw was 'interest free for 9 months' and I thought yep that about sums the season up!!

I can't see anything on the OS that says that STs offer a significant saving on individual match tickets.....

They're only a saving if you want to sit in the same seat for every match and have the certainty of a ticket when we sell out (........... sorry, drifted out of reality for the second reason).
In the specific case of P8, what will be the one-off cost of a ticket in that section or will it be totally ST ?

Just moved season ticket to P8 £295,what a bargain. The woman selling said there was about 20 left in this area
I moved mine to there yesterday. They said they had about 2 left of the original 1,000

In the specific case of P8, what will be the one-off cost of a ticket in that section or will it be totally ST ?

Why would P8 be restricted view ? What's in the way ?

I really am surprised that 997 people are willing to risk sitting that close to Leeg

This Team's Crap, Let's Slash the Seats
Clappy thing.

The front rows are obstructed a bit by the barriers, that's the same in the Upper Trinity. Think there are some small pillars at the back...oh and you're right next to the away fans which probably isn't great when the away team score.
Think I'd rather get these cheap tickets in L8 of the Holte End.

We moved there before legion. If only we'd known.....

I think that I'm correct in saying that Leeg was the first to move to P8, actually in advance of the seats going on sale to lesser renowned Season Ticket holders.

Think it's more to do with the back rows, and the way the roof curves down. There was a big who-ha about the height of the new Witton at the time of construction, as the residents weren't happy with the prospect of losing natural light. So corners were cut in construction, so to speak. With Herbert involved, corners would have been cut anyway. See asbestos usage in said stand and narrow treads/gangways in the lower tier.

We got ours on the Friday, leeg got his on the Saturday. Dcf went to have a look at them Friday lunchtime and was phoned from the ticket office an hour or so later with front row seats sorted.

I stand corrected. If anyone deserves priority treatment ahead of Legion its you and Mr Five.

Hehe, I like the Mr Five. It's not that we deserve it, just Dcf being cheeky in wanting to see the seats straight away. The rest was up to the ticket office. We assumed they were glad to get their hands on our current prime location seats.
-
Regarding restricted view in P8, two of ours are in that category due to the raised railings at the bottom of the aisle. I don't think behind us are restricted at all.
-
Why would P8 be restricted view ? What's in the way ?
Bricks, bottles, coins, snooker balls, flying seats when we play Small Heath.
-
Wish I even had a choice
-
Knowing my luck a gigantic concrete pillar.
Or in P9...
-
I sat in restricted view seats against Man United in P9 (before they moved the away fans) a few years ago, and have to say, I found it pretty annoying - it was basically the railings at the bottom of the block, and they managed to obscure a decent chunk of the pitch.
-
I had an ST in P6 for a number of years, before moving to the new Trinity to avoid the Alan Wright fan club.
The pillars at the back do obstruct the views of nearby back row seats. Plus railings etc do get in the way of certain seats at the front. The majority of seats elsewhere in the section have an excellent view.
From the back of the stand it can take up to 30 minutes to get out for large crowds at the end. From the front sections (of the upper tier) you can be half way to the church before the booing starts. The aisles and exits just aren't up to it.
I very much doubt the stand could be vacated in a reasonable time (is it supposed to be two minutes?) in an emergency.
-

I think it's ten, and if that's what it has to be, it could be.
-
Quite a few of the rows at the back suffer from restricted view due to the roof.
-
Well if you wanted to move to P8 and have not done so, then its too late.
Ticket office staff say its all sold out now
-
Just called to try to relocate 6 tickets into P8 to be informed that it's now full.
Unless other reasonable seating is released at a decent price then I won't be renewing. Adhoc purchases saves me about £200 a year if the pricing policy remains the same for next season.
Releasing a restricted number of discounted tickets can have the adverse effect when they sell out and it then leaves others frustrated at an already frustrated fan base.

I was advised that there were only tickets on the wing of the Holte Upper. The view there is awful and I envisage adhoc purchases will see me get a better seat more often than not.
-
Witton Lane P8
Holte End K1, L1, L8, L9
All have the reduced price offer
Not sure how many are left though P8 is sold out
-
Holte end L8 and L9 aren't too bad a view from my experience. And you're behind the goal which is where I personally prefer to watch the game.
I think that little enclave between the Holte/Trinity below the big screen is doing the offer aswell.

Are you blaming Doug for Asbestos being found when they were taking parts of the old stand down?
Although the cheapness is Correct. I'm just glad he learned the mistake of doing the construction in house before attempting the renovation of the Holte.

It was found in part of the stand a couple of years after it was opened. The bits that had been used from the old stand.

Ahhh, I knew it was due to the old stand but thought is was during the building of the new. I thought I had read at the time it had delayed the opening/ added extra cost to the construction but obviously was mistaken.

I remember the downstairs was closed for the start of 1995-96 so it must have been found almost two years after the stand had been opened. They also had to take a couple of hundred seats out because of legroom problems.

I think that must be where I read it then. The seating changes were planned over the summer but were delayed due to the asbestos being found. At least it meant the old Witton might not have done a Bradford.

...
The club wasn't fined for actually having the asbestos. The company doing the demolition work had no asbestos expertise or were cowboys depending on how you look at it.
The irresponsible manner of demolition which resulted in asbestos dust and subsequent disposal were the issues. It was blue asbestos, which is pretty nasty stuff.
So yes, the offence did take place on Ellis' watch.
The court case was early '96, so it probably did relate to the reworking of the lower tier rather than the earlier addition of the upper.
-
When they did the rework on the lower tier of the new Witton Lane Stand, it was clear that there were still some parts of the original stand in there. By this I mean the original original Witton Lane Stand. They also took the opportunity to reposition some of the seats towards the Holte End. This resulted in an area of the lower Holte having severely restricted views. Those seats are below where the Brigada people congregate.
-
Just had text of the villa saying that there is a season ticket help evening taking place tonight in the holte pub between 6 and 9.
How many people need help to say that they are not renewing?
-
£480 is a steal, after all we may have 4 more matches next season ;)
-
I wonder if Trading Standards have been contacted by many people as to be honest we are not getting entertainment and all the advertising saying all the benefits that we get is total rubbish what with all the discounts that non season ticket holders get.
This has got to be the worst Villa team for many a season what a shame AM is going to be given another season wrecking our beloved club. Shame on you Randy Lerner/Paul Faulkner.
-
... what with all the discounts that non season ticket holders get.
At least you've got something to look forward to next season.

I had the same text and was annoyed at receiving it. Trouble is I couldn't reply as there was no mobile number. They must be getting worried with these desperate tactics. I've missed one season in the last 23 years of having a season ticket, but I've simply had enough of a club with no drive or ambition and a quite frankly ignorant owner in charge. RL has zero leadership qualities - not a single statement to rally the team and fans. If only I knew this back in 2006, and to think the twat took away my shares in the club!
-
I won't renew. It's my way of saying I'm not happy with the way the club is being run. I've supported them enough over the past 18 years and put lots of time and money in it, it's time for a break.
-
That's the spirit. Villa 'til I Die and all that.
-
I said I wouldn't renew when Eck took over...that was it, my 20-odd consecutive year run would be no more. My one man protest lasted all of 3 days.
-
Wait, so let's say we get relegated, would the prices stay the same? Surely there'd be a refund for those who have already shelled out top money for one?
-
Don't forget the four extra free games you would get in that eventuality. They'd use that to justify not altering the price.
-
Had I brought a season ticket, I think I'd be really pissed off at that logic.
-

I think you need to look up the definition of support. Or does your definition of support stipulate certain conditions?

I see nothing wrong with it.
If he's pissed off and had enough, not renewing is a better way of demonstrating it than that planned protest for the Chelsea game.
An utterly pointless protest incidentally, as they're more interested in berating the Manager than the goon who put him there.
I'd already had enough last season, so the 3 of us who sit together are calling it a day, we certainly won't be the only ones.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Such an attitude is the reason so many people won't be renewing their £600 season ticket, as opposed to £100. Football is so popular as a business because supporters are the perfect mug punters.
-
I have taken advantage of the situation and taken the early payment ticket family of 4 for £695. My mate has paid e his £350 already and I have taken it on the 9 months interest free scheme.
The way I see, if we start shit again I will convince my mate the best thing to do is stay away, I cancel the repayments and I am quids in.
My ate might even become disabled and won't e able to attend and again, I am quids in.
Worse case scenario I have had an net rest free loan over 9 months.

My dad might die and then I'd be able to use his ticket for the rest of the season for nothing! I would be quids in.

I`m not, but i`ll still go, but i aint payin half-a-grand for a season ticket when you will get every game for a fraction of that, after all, when was the last time we sold out - a long time ago.
-
I sat in P8 for the Stoke game. The view is spot on and the Taggart suite has had a refurb and has cider on draft. I think t could get lively in there next season though as you can almost grab the away support and vice versa.

There's a difference between support and blind support, though. There's also a difference in how people support the club. Some go all the time, some not so much, and some not at all. They're all supporters at the end of the day, though.
If people aren't happy with the way things go, I'd rather they stopped going at all than "supported" the club the way I've seen some people act at matches.
-
I have renewed...and here's the reason why.
Even after one of the most miserable seasons that I can remember.
Every single time I step in to Villa Park the hairs on the back of my neck tingle with pride at the history and tradition of our great club and the memories that the place has given me over the years.
It's probably my favourite place in the whole world (yes I know that is so so sad). It has been a constant in my life for almost 40 years through good times and bad....and you know what......even when times are bad I just can't turn my back.

Great post. I feel exactly the same.
-
I'm not renewing. I will still go to watch us next season, but I will take advantage of the offers for games where we will not sell out, which will be every game. I may even decide to just go to Saturday 3pm games (there can't be too many of them anymore) which would suit me. No doubt I'll be watching a live feed on the Internet when not at the game (home and away).
-

You make it sound like an incentive
-
Just make sure the club know that there is no way you will renew while McShite is there, if everyone did that there is no way they could keep him.
-
Be warned.. when you don't have a season ticket, it's very very easy to get out of the habit of going
Yes. I didn't renew this season and am not that inclined to come bak for next; although I am thinking of doing so.
-
Can someone start up an e-petition that we can all sign to show our dissaproval
-
As a long time season ticket holder, I didn't renew last season (me and my son). Moved house, new job and was getting fed up of all the driving year in year out just to get to and from Villa Park. I intended to have a season off and then renew, but the way things have gone, it does feel like a protest vote against AM. I certainly won't be renewing with AM in charge, as his brand of anti football is a complete disgrace. The sooner he is gone the better!
-
I will renew if they drop the prices by £50 as West Brom have done - If they can do it why can't Villa?
This will go some way to compensating ST holders for all the offers on cheap seats etc
-

It's true. I went to more or less every home game for donkey's years and then owing to a cashflow problem decided to give it a rest for a short while. That short while very easily became a very long while and I only go occasionally now.
-
Be warned.. when you don't have a season ticket, it's very very easy to get out of the habit of going
thats exactly whats happened to me
-
And me, and have not really missed it this season. Little one number 3 has arrived, and I watch online most weeks, but don't miss freezing my balls off watching us play shit football, which we have at home most of the time for the last 4 seasons.
-
Be warned.. when you don't have a season ticket, it's very very easy to get out of the habit of going
Its true. I had exactly the same thing happen when I gave up heroin, and then again when I stopped drinking.
I would like to propose the setting up of a rehabilitation centre for the thousands of fans who come August will have come off Villa season tickets but may find things tough.
We could call it the Trevor Ford Clinic.
-
I've been once this season after not renewing this year, at that was because I was given freebies by someone who couldn't go. Watching in the pub or an internet stream has been a big enough chore this season at times I'm sure as hell ain't forking out the same kind of money to watch McLeish's shit
-
Villa phoned me today. Are they ringing all ST holders? I told them I'd probably renew out of loyalty to the club I've supported for 60 years but certainly not out of loyalty to the present management, who have produced some of the most boring games I've seen for years. I said that I appreciated that the marketing department, like the girl who phoned me, were doing their best to make renewing an attractive proposition, but they were fighting a losing battle until the performance on the pitch improved. I was offered some sort of behind-the-scenes pre-match experience before the Bolton game, which I declined (but, again, full marks for trying).
-
As things currently stand no. If McLeish is sacked and an exciting replacement brought in i may change my mind. I'm still going to go down just not as often and will maybe try and do more aways instead.
-
The pre match experience goes something like this. Mcliesh puts a video on of Boltons goals over the last 25 years, he then tells every one that Hutton is the best Right Back in the world. Faulkner comes into the dressing room and trys to sell the players scratch cards.Randy does a video conference from the golf course and says things like, I love you guys, roof it, show me the money and finishes with good luck against them Bolton Rovers. Mcliesh does his pre match speach, reminding the players that they are playing an elite club and that winning is over rated. None of the players are listening as they are either texting or wearing head phones, except for Gabby who is colouring in his book.
-
To answer the original question, no I'm not renewing but that's down to my location - if it were not for that I'd renew.
-
I very much doubt the will be any from this household next season
-
I think there's going to be a massive like for like drop off in sales, and that will be the axe for the manager.
There's been a drop for a couple of seasons, but they'll shit themselves into sacking him when they see the figures.
-

It's marketing. The sort of thing we used to complain that they didn't do.

No that is selling
-
There's marketing and there is desperation. Selling tickets to the masses is a good philosophy. Chasing people down with the offer of a "pre game package" is desperation, in the same manner as selling tickets for the next 3 games as "Cup Finals"

according to Mcliesh they are World Cup Finals, tells you every thing you need to know about the club, that they are prepared to use the words of the most disliked and unsuccessfull manager we have ever had to try and sell tickets.

Calling them 'cup finals' is small time.If it was on the rags website we would be taking the piss.

I think it's the timing.
It was never done until now, and it wasn't done for the supporters or the club. It was done so the upstairs can protect their own asses.
-
I keep saying I won't renew. It's going to see some serious willpower not to renew (I can't imagine my life without Villa), but I'm not certain I can pay the best part of a grand for me and the daughter to sit through this again.
-
Season ticket sales must be crap as they've got Gabby on the OS urging fans to "stick with fans through the bad times" and renew. The problem is the owner is person who has created these bad times and is the only person who has the power to change things. These things work both ways Mr Lerner if you're not prepared to do anything to alter the present situation, either by changing the manager or significant funding then you can hardly expect people to renew, especiaaly with the dire football being played out on the pitch
-
Significant funding won't do it under Mcleish. The best thing Lerner can do is get rid of Mcleish and supply a new manager with reasonable funding. The fans will get behind the team if they can provide some entertainment.
-

Agree, but sadly I think he's more likely to provide McIdiot with significant funding than get rid of him, but more worryingly he's not likely to do either
-
Anybody buying a ST now is giving the club a green light to more of this misery. Just wait a month or two, make them a bit nervous. If RL sees virtually no sales he might be forced to act. There will of course be fans that say I will buy soon no matter what, but you arent doing the club any favours.
-
I haven't renewed and will not renew for the first time in 25 years.
I've had enough.
-
I will renew if McLeish goes, if he stays then I won't renew but will probably still go to the majority, if not all, of the games.
Not renewing is my way of sending a message to the board, renew and you are telling them that you are happy with the situation
-
renew and you are telling them that you are happy with the situation
Or you're a Villa fan.
-
like I said, I will still be going to the majority or all of the matches. Not renewing doesn't mean you're not a villa fan
it's not as though there is going to be a scramble for match tickets is it!!!
-
There might be, it's our year for the Cup next season don't you know.
-
I think I'll renew, mainly because I take my 2 sons and there MAY be a possibility that we'll share some fun together.
Dream on !
-
There might be, it's our year for the Cup next season don't you know.
True, the law of averages has to kick in sometime
-
I haven't read the entire thread so it may have already been mentioned, I think a good sweetener the club could offer would be inclusive cup tickets, or vouchers for them, let's face it they aren't going to have to give out too many if things stay the way they are, and it may convince a few wobblers to renew
-
There might be, it's our year for the Cup next season don't you know.
No, that’ll be in a couple of season when McLeish takes us to league one and we’ll get a day out at wembley in the Johnstone paint Trophey. Something to look forward to I suppose. :D
-
I'm not renewing. I did last year but wish I hadn't. I've only been to one game (Fulham home) since the Swansea home match. I don't think I've missed much! Lerner and McLeish between them have ruined the club. What on earth possessed Lerner to appoint AM in the first place I just can't fathom. I've had a season ticket since 1989 and missed only one season in that time.

It's the one trophy Blues have won that we haven't.
-
as I said in earlier pages I have renewed. I love going down the Villa, treading the same path to the ground as my Great Grandfather, my Dad and his brothers did/do.
3rd Div to European Champs, relegation to Div 2 and back !
I just love it.

It was only a shield when they won it. When we win it it’ll be more prestigious because it’s an actual trophy now. ;D

Ive only been a season ticket holder from the days where they offered North stand lower tickets at £200. I gave it up at the end of the 2009/2010 season due to other financial commitments but then stupidly renewed for this season and I regret it so much. I feel i have wasted £360 on absolute rubbish. I've decided that I will not be making that mistake again and will NOT be renewing next season. Im taking up golf instead as well as spending more time with my little boy. I will however, attend the odd game here and there but refuse to part with £370 this time round.
-
I must say that I don’t envy the poor staff at the ticket office. For every client they ring and says they’ll renew they must be faced with a number who break out into a diatribe about all the ills at the club. Poor sods must be sick of it by now.
-
I still havent received a phone call. They must not like me :-(
-
I saw the bit from Faulkner...Er, I mean Gabby, appealing for people to renew.
I think they're very worried at the moment.
-
There's an easy way to sort that particular problem.

They should be.That article on the OS was like a begging letter PF must know he's necks on the block

Roughly, how many season ticket holders are there this season? The season when we got to Carling cup final didnt we have very close to 30K as they said every season ticket holder was guaranteed a ticket? It would interesting to see how many are season tickets this season and how many have renewed for next season.
Getting gabby to plea to fans to renew is pretty sad and I actually feel sorry for Gabby for having to put out that statement. He can hardly say no to his employer for asking him to say it.
-

Nor me. 5 seasons in a row obviously means nothing to them.

You must've been bad in a former life for them not to have rang you!

I wouldn't think they'd be panicking yet. It is only April.

Especially when its noticeable that, in my opinion, even Gabby has not been putting 100% into the games, and when that happens, I think it's pretty obvious something is wrong. One thing Gabby has always done is tried his best, even if he's not playing too well, but even he's starting to not bother...
-
I wouldn't think they'd be panicking yet. It is only April.
Surely they must have some sort of inkling that there's going to be a significant decrease in ST's though and so make an effort with all.

With our top flight status not fully secured is it any wonder that people are waiting to see where we will be before investing?
Not the right time for a sales pitch, in fact, a waste of time.

I am sure they're expecting it, but I think about now they'll be dipping a finger in the water to get a sense of how cold it's going to be, rather than actual full on panicking.
-
Roughly, how many season ticket holders are there this season? The season when we got to Carling cup final didnt we have very close to 30K as they said every season ticket holder was guaranteed a ticket? ...
I thought we had around 27K ST holders when we got to the Carling Cup. My guess is it's around 20K now - purely guesswork based on the attendances at VP this year where ST's are counted whether the holder attends or not. It'll certainly be a lot less next year, and that's why they're calling people to encourage them to renew. Anyone any idea where we can get actual numbers?
-
Calling them 'cup finals' is small time.If it was on the rags website we would be taking the piss.
cant argue with that to be honest
-
I still havent received a phone call. They must not like me :-(
They must fucking hate me then, only been a ST holder for 25 years though, and still no call.
-

They probably saw your 25 year history, thought "nah, this bloke will renew for any old shit" and didn't bother
*wink*
-
There's marketing and there is desperation. Selling tickets to the masses is a good philosophy. Chasing people down with the offer of a "pre game package" is desperation, in the same manner as selling tickets for the next 3 games as "Cup Finals"
It's selling tickets. I fail to see what's wrong with that.
Its not as simple as that though is it. I have no issues with the Club marketing its tickets, but perks offered in that manner make it look like a timeshare business. There is only one factor that markets the club, and that is the one on the Pitch. Everything else is peripheral

I'm assuming that they think the same applies to me.
I don't think that I've ever had the club contact me about anything by phone. I just get the texts and emails.
Maybe I ticked some box years ago that said not to call. However, if Villa took notice of that, they'd be the first marketing team ever to do so.
-
Here is some encouragement.

It all seems a bit tacky and desperate.

Yes, gabby telling us to renew when he appears to not give a F... And saying we should be supporting the team through these "not so good times" not so good bloody hell as he not being paying attention.

Not the right time for a sales pitch, in fact, a waste of time.
I suppose they are assuming that supporters will remain loyal regardless. Personally I'd want to see what product was on offer before committing, and presumably it will be considerably cheaper for a ST in the second division.
-
Just had an email informing me of the 8 month interest free deadline. Wittily, and after a few beers, I replied "Give me 8 months interesting football and I will renew.".
Childish and not particularly funny. So why did I have a wry smile on my face when I sent it?

They called me today and my surname starts with "D". They must be phoning people in reverse alphabetical order. Unless your name's not really Oscar Arce?

I'd love to tell Randy to stick his franchise up his arse... but I'm renewing for family reasons
-
I had the call from Racheal the other day, she was very polite, I told her I wouldn't renew until McLeish leaves.
I also said that seeing though Randy loves letters so much, I could write him a letter telling him why McLeish shouldn't be our boss and he could put that in his safe with Fergie's letter, she laughed when I said that.
I could tell she actually cared about Villa she seemed as concerned as me but was trying to be positive.
I also said she and the team were doing a fantastic job and have massively improved over the last few years, but Randy and Paul Faulkner have really messed up with the appointment of Alex McLeish.
I am going to renew, but I'm waiting till the very last minute (I didn't tell her this though)

They probably stuck an extra 50 quid note in his pay packet to say that.
-
I am intending to renew but will leave it until the last minute as I don't want them thinking I am happy with the current situation. My one son definitely wants his but my youngest has missed more games than he has attended so it is 50/50 on that front.
Still no call though - I think if you have had 20 years + your taken as a (Shay) given.
-
got my call on Thurday - told them I will renew if they get rid of McLeish. All very polite, the woman said she couldn't do anything about the manager but stressed that all calls are recorded!!! (didn't say if anybody bothered listening to the recordings)
She then went on to explain the easy payment option - obviously she is in the know and so told me that because she knows McLeish will be got rid of ;)
-
They tried to call me at home and on my mobile Friday evening, am keen for them to ring back so I can say yes to renewal but only if the clueless one has gone !
-
Still waiting for my call - does anyone know if the club does an "away" season ticket or must you be a home season ticket holder and then join the away fans club to be guaranteed tickets on the road?
-

ST holder and a member of the Away scheme.

It costs £25 for each person on the scheme but takes away all the bother. Only applies to league games.

Although my ST details have been used throughout the season and I've never not managed to obtain one.

Looking forward to occupying our new seats in P8 next season with quite a few others who we know are going in there.

Tell them you will only go if McLeish is staying. You might find something out.

Haven't even had my renewal pack never mind a phone call. One letter from Zebra finance pre-approving me for a 3 month payment option, but nothing from the club telling me i can have it over longer. I'm actually keen to get it sorted to be honest but just not had the time to get down there.
-
Heart has ruled my head again................renewed couple of weeks ago and discovered
Zebra have taken TWO payments in April - when I enquired they reckon I wanted TWO season tickets ?
No thankyou one will be ample especially if that word removed manager remains for next season -

Can we have a whip round to get Legion a seat in P1.I'm shitting it.

The villa phoned me again for the 4th time last night, to see if im going to renew next season. Im actually getting a bit worried now...It feels like the ticket office are stalking me. Its only early May!

They're obviously not CROSSING you off their list.

Better to be stalked than ignored. ;-)
-
Just imagine how busy the ticket office (and happy, Villa fans) would be if McLeish was s(backed) - pinched from General K....
-
A financial no brainer, i`ll take `em as they cut the price match by match, which is bound to happen again next season, and probably on an even larger scale.
-
It will be interesting to see if these phone calls are an annual event or just a McLeish thing?
-

They're hardly likely to say
'Sales are down the shitter, we're struggling.'

I still haven't had any contact regarding renewal other than the mailed info pack.
I'm going to leave it until late May, just to see if they do call me.
-
I got a call the other day, spoke to a guy called Paul. He sounded like he couldn't give a fuck and it was all too much effort for him. I think his surname began with an F, and he sounded ginger?
Told him I wasn't renewing due to family commitments and not having the money, and that as soon as my son is old enough, we will probably be back.
-
i think everyone should haggle like crazy when they ring :D
-
Bear in mind that the Ticket Office staff are only doing their job. They have to try to sell tickets and must dread the replies they get off those who have a problem with it.
-

I imagine they will have fairly thick skin by now with 6 or more weeks of abuse.
-
There is no justification to abuse them whatsoever.
All you need do is state your reason for not renewing and that's it.
Anyone who abuses them, when they're just trying to do their job in establishing reasons for non-renewals, is a prick.
-
Agree with that, Fletch. From my own experience with the ticket office, all I can say is the service has been first class.
-
Agreed, but any cold call who ever it's from runs the risk. More risk when the person receiving it is totally pissed off with the way the season has gone. If ST holders can aim abuse at AM on match days then it's highly likely that telephone sales people will cop for a bit too. It's not right but it will happen. But as I stated it will be water off a ducks back after 6 weeks of it.
-
Exactly, Mark.
-
I have no plans to renew it, but if this look good over summer, I probably will go for few games to see if I like it or not. Due to my job I won't buy one. I might go for sunday and mid weekly games but it depends on how much money I got to spend.
-

The morning after the Bolton game, i suggested on here that the ticket office lay off the calls for a bit. I'm not sure if they did but it might have been wise.
-
Agree with that, Fletch. From my own experience with the ticket office, all I can say is the service has been first class.
Totally agreed. They haven't let me down and are very pleasant to deal with.
-
Agreed, but any cold call who ever it's from runs the risk.
Not a 'cold call' though Bren, if it's a company that you have dealings with.
The telephone preference service, which you can register to, protects you from undesirables calling you, but not companies you've had business with.
In my opinion, you've got to be pretty dim to have a go at a ticket office person as if they are the embodiment of Paul Faulkner.
-
The ticket office staff at Villa Park are a credit to the club. Knowledgable, helpful and friendly beyond the call of duty. I can't praise them highly enough.
-

Agreed, an absolute credit to the club whenever I've dealt with them, even if I'm having a moan. Well done to them.
-
Had my call today. I told her that I was having serious doubts about renewing but if a certain announcement was forthcoming this weekend then I would undoubtedly renew. She obviously knew what I was referring to as she said that obviously they have no dealings with football matters.
I asked if the views of persons they spoke to was made known to those above and she said they were and that all calls are recorded and some are listened to.
She asked if she could call me again in a couple of weeks and I told her she could. Wouldn't say that how she approached the situation was very startling to me as, on every occasion I have had dealings with the ticket office over a good number of years, they have never, ever been less than 100% professional and a credit to the club.
-
Had our call too...just said that we hadn't made our mind up, that the football on the pitch this year had been poor and not value for money, and that I wasn't convinced at the moment about the Club's vision for the future
The price freeze was mentioned and I did say that £10 off made no difference- if there had been a £50 discount for renewing early then maybe
Was perfectly polite and the guy calling seemed unsurprised and agreed it had not been a good season.......I don't envy them their job at the moment
-
The ticket office staff are superb, a credit to the club. I want Paul Faulkner to ring me and ask if i'd like to purchase a season ticket next season.
-
Another thumbs up for the ticket office staff, they're excellent.
-
Respect to anyone who renews and especially those who don't earn a whole lot.
I think the last time season ticket-holders weren't short-changed was probably MON's second season, 2007/08.
-
Another thumbs up for the ticket office staff, they're excellent.
So why can't the rest of the staff be the same?
-
I had a nightmare with the ticket office last year, my experience was quite bad as I found them unhelpful. To get a resolution I had to call the ticket office of another club who were helpful and sorted me out.
-
Email from the club in response to me stating I will renew if AM goes :
Dear Richard,
Thanks for your email.
We are currently doing an outbound campaign to our season ticket holders to make supporters aware that season tickets are available for renewal and to advise of renewal deadline dates along with other pieces of information.
We appreciate your feedback and we will be sure to make note of it.
It has been a very difficult season for us which was not intended, and is one to most certainly put behind us and look to the future. We still remain in the Premier League and we are looking forward to a much better season for 2012/2013.
We can see you have been a season ticket holder for a number of years now and we would like you to know that your support has been very valuable to the club and we thank you for that. The club would naturally love to see you down here next season as a season ticket holder again as you have been in previous years but we understand and appreciate you have your opinions to stand by.
We would hate for you to miss out on renewing your seat so if you do have a change of heart or if you have any other questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact us again and we will be able to assist you in the best way we can.
Thanks again for your loyal support.
Kind Regards

I'm feeling thoroughly unloved. No phone call for me.
I'm going to hold off until the absolute last minute in the hope that McLeish gets fired from the roof of Bodymoor strapped to a ballistic missile.
-
excellent thought Ad@m !
-
To the Villa Season Ticket Office.
After a great deal of doubt, I want to renew my season ticket ASAP !
-
Not going to get a season ticket due to other priorities but will definately attend 5+ games next year.
-
Same as you itbrvilla, I still can't afford a season ticket, but I will 100% continue my policy of going to at least half the home games and at least two away games.
-
Staff have always been great.
My son needs an end seat due to his disability and they always manage to find one.
We are considering ST's again now, just waiting to see who the new man will be...

I went to one lasst season!
-
I expect a fair few will go ahead and renew now - apparently the lines have been very busy this afternoon....
-
Was going to renew anyway but I'm going to do it tonight as a little celebration.
What a great week, the noses staying down and now McLeish has gone, the footballing world is returning to normal.
-
I was hovering about renewing but now I definitely will. Whoever the new manager is will be a massive improvement on McLeish, and the statement from the board gives me hope that we'll start playing proper football again

Surprised this thread has gone so quiet with the amount of people who wouldn't renew until McLeish had gone.
-
Just renewed mine and my daughters.
As others have said, I would have done anyway, but I would have left it until the last minute.
Roll on next season !!
-
I've just read that buying one through Zebra finance means you won't be able to select a seat. That's a bit rotten, isn't it? How can they expect people to make such a big financial commitment without being able to select which seat they want?

If your an existing season ticket holder you can put your AV customer number in when you apply through Zebra to keep your current seat and renew.
If your a new season ticket holder (like me) apply through zebra and then phone the villa park ticket office who will reserve seats for you. These can be swapped on relocation day if you so desire.

Was quick too. Applied online yesterday, phoned ticket office this morning to reserve our seats and they have just phoned back to say they have the money from Zebra and the seats are ours.
Suprisingly easy.

I'm waiting to find out who the manager is before renewing.
-
I'm waiting to find out who the manager is before renewing.
So am I, but if the current likely candidates of Lambert, Solksjaer, or Martinez arrive it won't stop me renewing. If Mick McCarthy gets the job on the other hand...
-
Pretty sure we will definitely renew now- we were hovering before
We will wait until renewal deadline anyway and hopefully by that stage we will know who the manager is...........I'm echoing the not McCarthy comments...please

Just got my call. Very pleasant girl from the ticket office. Told her I'd been holding off renewing until McLeish was sacked and she said I wasn't the only one!!!
-
I got my 2nd call yesterday and told them that I'd renew now that the club has acted decisively - but that I wanted a refund if we appointed Mick.
-
Second child due in June, no chance. It's an internet subscription for me - any tips on the best live stream sites welcome. and no, I don't need those type of sites.
-
I did'nt get my call off vp either but i renewed yesterday.
-
It would be nice to know the sales figures and for previous years, instead of all the guesswork that goes on. What were last year's season ticket numbers?

It was just over 20k seem to recall it being announced on Pravda.
-
Our peak was about 25k from 07-09. We've lost about 5k season ticket holders in the last 3 years.
-
just renewed, was planning not too if McLeish had stayed in charge but now that's changed, be rude not too.
-
Had my call yesterday .......stated I was now looking to renew after the departure of McLeish. Just awaiting the new appointment ......and then the usual Villa debacle starts to unfurl.
-
I never did get a call in the end. However, late last week, I received a reminder email so I've sent in my renewal.
I probably ticked some box at some point that said contact me only by email. If so, Villa would be one of the few places ever to take any notice of that.
-
Just renewed my tickets in order to save the £20, increase on last year. As a bit of fun I asked the girl would I be liable to a refund if they appointed McCarthy, Bruce, Curbishley etc. She has told me that you can get a full refund upto 24 hrs before the season starts as long as the request is in writing.

Careful. Our owners and chief exec are brilliant you know.
-
At last I feel loved. Sort of. We had our phone call today, a very helpful lady called Donna apparently. I just haven't got round to renewing yet. No sinister reason; it's a combination of idleness and trying to resist the 'everything has to be done immediately if not sooner' culture that pervades 100% of my working life.
-
I had my call mid-morning on the day before we lost to Norwich. I was actually going to renew on the lunchtime anyway so she had a wasted call.
-
I had a call yesterday thanking me for renewing and saying that they'd be using the same entry cards next season.
-

Bleedin' glory hunters.
I had a friend who since childhood had been an adamant Manchester United fan, and used to take the piss out of me constantly about how good United were compared to the Villa, and I'd get an especially heavy earful if United had beaten the Villa. It is worth noting at this point that he has incredibly rich parents, whereas I have been not so fortunate, but still make a point of attending at least 8 home games every season and at least 1 away game.
So enter the O'Neil era, and by 2008 we'd become a good team challenging for 4th. Meanwhile, we're both about 15, and rich boy has a change of heart, becomes Villa-obsessed and decides to purchase a season ticket in the upper holte. This isn't that bad, right? Another heathen converted to the Claret and Blue? Well this was a bad thing for two reasons.
1) I was now frequently told by him that he's a 'better supporter than me' because he has a season ticket. When, as I've said, I'd been a Villa fan for life but couldn't afford a season ticket.
2) Since mid-Houllier era, when we started to go downhill, he has abandoned the Villa and gone back to United, and once again he brags about how good they are compared to us.
Well I'm still here and always will be. Knobhead.
-
Knobhead.
Good summing up there, by the sounds of things.
-
Should the poll be re-set?
Many would have voted when the previous manager was still in-situ, and the club's Premier League future in doubt.

I'm glad you talk about him in the past tense. He sounds like a grade A twat!
-
Just received my second call from the ticket office asking if I was renewing - same answer - waiting on the new appointment.
I was thanked for my past support and for my willingness to travel 200 miles each home game etc.
Then I was informed if I renewed on a credit card and I did not like the new manager I could have a full refund right up until the eve of the season ......I wonder how many tickets we have sold ?
PS the ladies from the ticket office were very nice ... thanks Sue and Fiona
-
Renewed our season tickets today. Bit miffed we only had one phone call though.
-
Supposedly we have sold 10,000 season tickets and are on course to match the 20,000 we sold last season!
-

I renewed but did not get a phone call.
-
Just renewed both of ours.....
Really hoping for someone good to come in (both manager and players)
-
Does anyone know how much the price increase is after tomorrow?
-
Does anyone know how much the price increase is after tomorrow?
£10 for standard ticket prices - concessions vary or stay unchanged.
Just renewed mine - was hoping we'd have announced the new manager so I could make some kind of statement to the ticket office but in the end £10 is a bit of a high price to pay just for the sake of being mardy arsed on a phonecall!
-
I cant really afford it, I have a young family to provide for but my heart ruled my head today again, and I renewed. Just hope we get more than 4 wins at Villa Park next season. I spent most of last year wishing the season would end...now after todays purchase, im looking forward to it again. I hate what the villa do to me, a drug I just cant give up.
-
Rewritten from elsewhere:
Supporting Villa is an addiction. It's like smoking. Costs loads, bad for your health and you only really enjoy about one in twenty. Much harder to give up though and the one in twenty makes it worthwhile.
-

Excellent quote, exactly how most of us feel i think.
-
SOTC and I are going to Villa Park tomorrow to renew our tickets.
-
Just succumed to the temptation of a new manager and threat of tomorrows proposed price increase and renewed mine and my sons season tickets.
I still reckon there will be a further announcement from the club tomorrow that the price freeze will be extended throughout June for existing ST holders but as a non gambler I wasn't wiling to take the risk. Wish I had gotten in early for the P8 tickets also, only downsideI can see is low winter sun getting in the way. Is there any chance some of these could be returned/not taken up?
-
Perhaps we should reset the poll after today's news?
-
Just renewed. I consider it to be a virtual pat on the back for the board following today's announcement.
-
I hope the club extend the season ticket offer for a few days more. I think business will be brisk this week.
-

This is so very true. I sometimes wish they did patches to help give us.
-
Quite a surprise to find the ticket office open for business yesterday - was feeling in a great mood, probably due to the weather and the euphoria of the countrywide Jubilee celebrations ;)
So heart ruled over head and I renewed - This Lambert fella better be good !
-
Seriously thinking of getting my season ticket back, haven't been this excited about a season for years! Just feel that everything is failing into place and that entertaining football will be returning to Villa Park and it will be a joy to actually go down there again! No expectations just to be entertained with no defeatist attitude!
-
Sorry to ask another ST question (I've never been in a position to buy one before... Well, I'm still not, but work can do one) - If I were to bring someone to a game, could I change my seat so we could sit together?
-
Yes.
-

Well done for following your heart.
-
Just renewed mine but could not keep the same seats as I am now over 65 there are no concessions in P5 unless you have been in the same seat since 2006 (I have been since 2000) but the catch is you had to be 65 in 2006 too so if I want to stay in the seat I have been in for 12 years i have to pay £520 ( kids are not affected) but by moving to P4 just along from where i sit it is £280 for me and £210 for my grand daughter so have moved (I just hope the don't sell my seat and i will sit there anyway) so £490 for the two of us is not bad. I asked how sales were going since Paul Lambert has been appointed they said much better so some things are looking up they owe us after last year
-
Our new seats work out at £15 per match. They are on 9 months interest free credit, owing to buying them early. Good business for all concerned.
-
I have now renewed as promised, can't wait for the new season now.
-
I'm begrudgingly going to have to give up my great seat in the Holte this season. I'll be giving it a miss until my 10 week old son is old enough to come with me, and/or I can afford to again. I'm hoping to make a few this year still
He is the only thing worth missing the Villa for.
-
That is dedication.

That is superb. Damn the need for urgent home improvements which mean i still can't afford it. Will have a look at the half STs at Xmas.

Good on you mate, I missed season 2002-2003 season ticket wise for the exact same reason. I missed about half the home games in the end including the marvellous 3-3-3 derby game. I have no regrets about it at all and that soon to be 10 year old son of mine has just had his 6th season ticket renewed.
In my case it was also a gesture of commitment to my other half, she knows how much Villa mean to me, but first born sons run em close. Mind you the 3 subsequent kids didn't stop me buying season tickets !
-
Now we have a chance of some football I'm looking to move from the North Stand upper to the lower Holte, are there seat listings available anywhere so I can see what I'm being offered?
Apologies if this is earlier in the thread

Your best off phoning the ticket office

Then make arrangements to go down there and go to the selection of seats they have available.

I unfortunately can't renew due to university, but out of interest does anybody know how sales are going ?

If you go to the official site, hover over tickets then click buy tickets, log in and try to purchase a season ticket,
You can now use the new 'select a seat' feature to see what seats are available without putting any details in or commiting to anything
-
I just renewed.
My ticket cost £50 less than last year (Trinity Upper, A3). I wasn't expecting that....
-
I have just been checking on the avfc site to see where I have been moved to and I can not find a full seating plan only block plans is there anywhere where I can see exactly where my new seat is??
-
Seat Planning and availability::

Give them a bell and say you want to come and see the seat. They will arrange for you to get in the ground; sometimes escorted, sometimes not. This will allow any fine tuning you want to make. It is the only sure way to do it.
-
Anyone who has renewed/renewing and relocating who wants singing throughout the match and atmosphere then get as close to L8 as possible.
BRIGADA are in L8 and WILL BE MAKING A FUCKING RACKET !
-
Have just bought my first ST's since 1979!
Last time was Holte End standing with the little "cheque book" complete with plastic cover adorned with the golden lion.
Hope we are as successful again...
-
I had a sit down chat with my manager at work today. He had concerns about the rotas and working it around football (I work in a betting shop) - Thankfully he's a Villa fan and he said he'll do all he can to make sure I get time off for going to VP, so it looks like I'll be getting my first ever season ticket ;D
-
After just one season of him trying to change the rota every other week because our kick off time has been moved, it'll probably be your last - so I hope it's a good season for you!
-
Also purchased a season ticket for the first time, So does this mean I can get into the exclusive Holte suite? and how much?
What about the Holte pub? is it just invite only? thanks
-
I decided I wasn't going to renew if they were sticking with McLeish.
As it has turned out, I really can't get spending several hundred quid on a ST past the mrs anyway (money is really tight at the moment), so I won't be renewing in any case.
I will pick and choose my games and try to get to 5 or 6.
I'll be picking the games we are most likely to win (ie against the small clubs), which are usually the ones where the best discounts are.
I'll go for discounted tickets in the UT wings. I'll be checking to see if my old season ticket seat is occupied at said matches, and if it isn't, I'll just move over and sit there instead.
-

If the programme stays at £3 it will probably be £4 with a programme or £3 without. Holte Pub and Holte Suite no difference, former gets full earlier. Keep your ticket. If you have gone in HS before, you can still go in HP after. No invitations needed.

Just renewed. Had no intention but I have a feeling this season could be like 95-96
-
Anyone know if the £5 credit for the clubshop that was on the card last year is still valid or whether it has been re- applied for renewed ST's. That fiver will go towards the new shirt if it is.
-

Expired at the end of February I think

To far away to go so i am going to have to settle with a donation to become a golden muppet,my Mrs reckons i am a muppet anyway and she is quite looking forward to me becoming golden and subscribing to H&V magazine so i can have a good read. So to all who do re-new have a great season and make plenty of noise for the lads.
-
Finally got mine sorted. L4, Row Y :)

You will enjoy articles by some bloke called Griffin. I do.
-
Oh, and I gave in and renewed yesterday.
-

That twat?
-
The club phoned me on Friday reminding me last day for renewal was Monday so i renewed Lower Holte row OO
-
We know Small Heaths's and Bradford's sales. What about us?
-
We should re-set the poll
-
I renewed yesterday.
Would have waited until as late as possible if McLeish stayed.
-
I voted don't know yet on the poll a while ago.
Renewed mine Monday and I'm really looking forward to getting down to VP in August
-
"Villa are sending out special season ticket loyalty badges, which we urge fans to wear on matchdays to help them stand out from the crowd.
It's a way of us saluting your support and helping you demonstrate yours as a season ticket holder.
The badges are silver but fans who have held a season ticket for ten consecutive years will receive a gold one.
Remember to keep hold of your badge for it is to be worn season after season after season, until the day comes when you upgrade from silver to gold."
*cringe*
-
Squirming in my seat at that one.
-
Will have to dig out my Blue Peter , World Cup Willie , Tinger and Tucker , Roberstons Jam (not allowed to name the doll anymore) and Chipper club badges to go alongside my silver season ticket holders badge
-
One for the bad marketing ideas thread.
-
Good grief.
Is that true?
-
Asks innocently: "what's wrong with that?" [snigger]
-
It's clearly aimed at kids and the old fashioned sorts who are used to the days when collecting football badges was the thing to do.
Fine, it's not everyone's cup of tea, but you can't fault the club for trying.
There's a guy who stands outside the Holte End before every game selling badges - if there wasn't a market for it he wouldn't be there. And every time I walk past him someone is looking intently at the badges he's got for sale.
-
Better fan than you springs to mind.Silly idea.
-
I know a lot of deserve a medal for sitting through the dross of the last twelve months, but this is a bit over the top for me!
-
Good grief.
Is that true?
Ouch.
-
VCTM- I wil see your Tinger And Tucker and raise you a Tufty Club badge.
Although I normally applaud the efforts of the Marketing department this smacks of the Tony Hancock Blood Doner sketch. I can imagine Gold badge holders sneering at Silver in a holier than thou fashion.
It will end in tears I'll tell ye.
-
Full details of 'Welcome Pack' (http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~2824261,00.html)
-
The pop-ups from that green double-underlined text are irritating.
-
It will end in tears. Someone will write on here or in the meaning evil about how they've had season tickets since Pongo played and they didnt get a badge so they're never going again until Randy apologises to them personally.
-
If anyone is desperate for a badge, they will be on eBay pretty soon after some get them.
-
I like badges but I won't be wearing mine at Villa Park as I would feel as self concious as a bride in a wedding dress.
-
Haha, plastic uberfans. That would be amazing.
It's a shame, as the badges are quite smart, but the description on the club website means that mine will never be worn...
-
-
And if they're not pin on (a bit like a safety pin) but have that spikey thing with a button on they'll fall off.
-
Well, the news of the giveaway badges finally sealed it for me: I have 're-newed' my ST after a season away: welcome back to K5, Mr E.
-
Anyone else still being phoned about renewing there season ticket, i think to date I have had 5 phone calls throughout the Summer...the latest one reminding me that Season Ticket renewal day for my seat is today, and if I dont renew i wont get my seat, as they are expecting a surge of season ticket sales!!
I think that they must have my number on speed dial..Oh and dont worry I will be phoning VILLA today to renew!! I hope i get a gold badge LOL!
-

They called me this week, after a few missed calls, and calling me when i couldn't talk.
Said i wasn't renewing, that it was a financial decision, and that I'd try to get to the odd match here and there next season, but that i was thinking of it as "taking the season off" rather than never having a ST again.
Whenever I have spoken to people at the TO they are always extremely courteous and helpful.

I got one phone call to ask me what I thought of Zebra Financing and that was it.

I have bought ST's for next year but now the club are bombarding me with info about corporate boxes, directors lounge, 1874 etc.
Seems like one department not communicating with another

The barcode makes it quicker to get through the checkout at Asda than a horse.
-
Season ticket came today I like the key ring nice touch.
-
Mine came today too - must admit I like the gold pin badge!
-
The car sticker is going on next doors car,the dirty nose.
-
I like the badge idea. And the gold badge for those who have had their ticket longer. It's a nice touch, whether you'll be wearing it down villa park or not isn't the point. The fact the club have done it is pretty good I think.
-
The badge isn't too bad actually, in that it's nice and small, which means I might just wear it.
-
I am especially impressed to have got a gold badge because I think you get it for 10 seasons and I have only done 7!
-
Got my welcome pack today.
Already looking forward to my Free Pie.
-
Will be giving the car sticker, reserved sign and pin-badge away to the kids tomorrow at work. I do like the key-ring though.
-
A gold badge
A key ring
A car sticker
A seat sticker
A book of coupons
Will the generosity of my club ever end?
-
Mine haven't come yet. I wonder whether Keith, my Spurs-supporting postie, has kept them for himself
-
Silly idea.
Sounds like somebody only got a silver badge.
-
Bloke at work said his blue-nose postie delivered his ticket yesterday. He even knew what it was as he'd got quite a few to deliver and his gaffer had told him what they were. I bet that made him happy.
I know! A nose with a job!
-
Mine didn't come with a new card and I've changed seats this year. Has the same happened to anyone else?
-
This was my second consecutive season card and the welcome pack arrived without a new card.......I'm assuming that I use last years ?
Otherwise......some feckers nicked it !!!
-

You bar steward! I didn't renew last season but have done so this season; I received an "inferior" badge ... ;)
-
The gold badge looks okay but doubt I'll ever wear it.

That did actually happen to me, so I need to ring the ticket office, thanks for reminding me...
-
I'm sure the club said you're meant to re-use your card, unless you've changed seats?
Mine still hasn't arrived :(
-
I spoke to someone at the club and as I changed seats after relocation weekend, the packs had been put together by then so I will be recieving my new card separately.
-
Please keep hold of your existing season card as it will be reactivated for the new campaign.
You will only receive a new season card as part of your welcome pack if you were not a season ticket holder for the 2011-12 season, you have moved seats or you have changed age or price class.

I have Bren, might miss the start but should be OK from mid September onwards. Looking forward to a couple of pints of Guinness in the Swan.
-
My first ST since 1983!
Used to be a cheque book with a plastic cover.
The look on my lad's face when they arrived yesterday was fantastic - well worth it ;-)
-
Mine didn't come with a new card and I've changed seats this year. Has the same happened to anyone else?
If you have changed seats you should have had a new card. I did.
-
Heard that season ticket sales are up by 30%.
-
Mine's arrived. I cut the "Season Ticket Holder" bit off the car sticker, as it was a bit "look at me", so now I've just got the lion in the back of my car. Looks ace.

Unfortunately still a target for a Small Heath b/p/rick!

My 'proud and fanatical' blue-nose next door neighbour buys a season ticket when they are in the Premier League and doesn't go to a single game when they are in the Championship. My cousin is the same. I suppose it gives them a free year here and there to save up for their next one. This time round by the time they come back they will probably be able to afford a box.
-
Heard that season ticket sales are up by 30%.
30% from last season I guess. How close is that to the figure of "proud history bright future"?
-
21K last season IIRC. So that would take us up to about 27K which was around what we had during MON's last season.
-
Received mine over the weekend.
Just a little reminder for people in the Cup Scheme - I wasn't sure whether this was renewed automatically with your season ticket, so I rang the ticket office this morning. They confirmed (as I renewed online) that I wasn't currently in the scheme for next season, even though I've been in it every season since it was introduced. You have to fill out a separate paper form each season.
-
Ah thanks for that heads-up. They could have made us aware of this.
-
Mine didn't come with a new card and I've changed seats this year. Has the same happened to anyone else?
If you have changed seats you should have had a new card. I did.
also if your plastic ticket went on the pitch as an expression of total disgust at the back end of last season...........
-
Ah thanks for that heads-up. They could have made us aware of this.
They never do.
The same thing happens every year.
Therefore, rather than phoning up or renewing online, this season I renewed by mail and sent in the Cup Scheme form at the same time.
-
This was my second consecutive season card and the welcome pack arrived without a new card.......I'm assuming that I use last years ?
Otherwise......some feckers nicked it !!!
Yep, when the TO phoned up to thank me for renewing, they said that last season's cards would be re-activated.

Hi Guy's,
I have just moved up from Basingstoke to Burton for work reasons. So as I am more local now I will be getting myself a season ticket. Previous years I was just making the odd trip up for some games with the Mrs, so we just parked the car up, attended the game in the Holte End, then drove back down south.
My Mrs is not interested in having a Season Ticket, and is more than happy to allow me to go on my own, that is where I ask you fellow Villans for some help. Anyone willing to save me from loneliness and allow me to join them for pre and post match beverages, and maybe sit relatively close to them if possible. Most people in my office here are Derby or Leicester Fans!
Cheers UTV!
Kev

I don't drink on matchdays 'cos I'm driving, but if I wasn't driving I'd head for the Barton Arms before and after a match

I will tackle this. You need an odd group of vaguely ITK fuckers to knock around with. You need to feel half important when reporting back to wifey about your day after a skin full of ale. You want decent food and a nice chat. You want a season ticket in l7, row FF and as near to seat 182 as you can, you want...
To make this easier, shall I meet you in The Bartons at 12 before the Everton game? I don't bite and have brought other Bartons "virgins" in to the group.
I am the UK version to Frank's foreign missionary work!
-
Can't say fairer than that, Kev.
-
But if Cheltenhamlion has a suitcase with him run like fuck.
-
If I'm not mistaken I detect the scent of a fresh, untouched wallet.
-
Beginning to look more and more like I won't be having a ST this season due to health and lack of funds :'( Bah humbug.

Hence why we should see if the people running the new fanzine/mag are willing to pay for our security services.
-
There are a few H&V in L7 tbf so this will be good place to start. That barmy Brigada lot are in the next block too so the atmosphere may be errrm improved.
-
Cheers Cheltneham Lion and CJ.
I Will head in the Bartons before the Everton Game, I will be the loner propping up the bar!
Dave my wallet is far from untouched, you must have skipped the part about having a Mrs.
-
Looking forward to meeting you, Basingstokevillain
-
I will get season ticket if those 360 pounds seat is any good and my cheque arrive in time.
-
Any H&V presence in A2 of the Trinity - the lad and I will be there this season - he's 18 in August so pub visoits are now on the cards ;-)

Don't forget to buy your H&V from the lovely bloke by the North Stand gates.

Indeed you have and a sound bunch of people indeed.
See you for a few after the Swansea game.

I travel from Farnborough on my own, but I have no interest in joining your clique. Hmph.

Any update on how many sold so far?

Any update on how many sold so far?
A disappointing (in my opinion) 20000.
-
That is disappointing, thought/hoped we'd be around 24-25k so we could see the average gates of 38k again. oh well, if we start off well I'm sure more will be sold.
-
It is disappointing but it's been a very long time since games at Villa Park have been consistantly entertaining. Dull, drab, insipid, backs to the wall for 80 minutes, hoofball, lazy, uninterested players and tactically clueless football we have loads of over the last decade, so you can't blame some for taking a "let's wait and see approach" or "I'll choose my matches".
If those that do go really enjoy themselves, word will soon get back to the missing numbers. My big hope for the season is that our home form is for once the key to our development and success. Our fans bloody deserve it.

Quite right, the home football last year was excrutiating to behold, but that came on top of a dreadful year under Houllier, and two under MON where we were mostly unimaginative, and hardly free scoring.

Just moved season ticket to P8 £295,what a bargain. The woman selling said there was about 20 left in this area
I moved mine to there yesterday. They said they had about 2 left of the original 1,000
I really am surprised that 997 people are willing to risk sitting that close to Leeg
We moved there before legion. If only we'd known.....
Block P8 only has 227 seats there were never 1000 £295 ST in this block so what happened to the rest? Will these prices be repeated this year?

You are forgetting the seats in the Holte L8.
-
K1 has the cheap seats too.
-
There were 1,000 tickets available on this offer throughout the ground, not just P8.
-
I sit in K1 for my ST and think it's a fantastic view for £295, a fantastic view of not very good football that is.

It's even better if you move across into one of the hundreds of empty seats in K2.
