How the feck did Wigan lose to Swindon.

Swindon aren't much better than Bristol Rovers.

Them at home in Round 4 please.

Just don't let it be Crawley away. I could see them knocking out a Prem side at home

Peterborough would be a laugh, because it would mean "Martin O'Neil's S" are out (Have you noticed yet Sunderland fans, that years of tradition count for nothing, your team gets renamed, without reference to anything, least of all you).

But yeah, decent home draw or trip to somewhere with good pubs please (Could live with Sheffield again on that basis).

Is the right answer.

Petrov and Heskey to score.  Oh, wait, that isn't possible.  The tie will have been played well before the January window closes so they won't have yet made their move to Wearside...

Stevenage at home will do. But I think we will get a tough away draw like Southampton, or more likely the winner of the mancwankfest.

The draw is guaranteed to include the words "will play number 7, Aston Villa".

Match ticket pricing at Emirates Stadium is based on the principle of an A and B grading, as follows: Category A fixtures: Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United, Man City, Tottenham.

All remaining Premier League games will be category B as will the majority of FA Cup, UEFA Competitions and Carling Cup matches. However, there will be some specific matches which will be designated as Category A. Details will be communicated at the appropriate time.

Therefore, I reckon a Monday night slot for this one.

I wonder what the odds are if we are up against Arsenal. AMc has beaten them with limited ( crap) players and I would put a few bob on. If we turn up. Of course the FA Cup is probably their only silverware chance too. Might put a full team out.

We should have beaten Arsenal at our place a few games back and we are utter balls at home. We're a lot better away and there's no reason why we can't beat either of those two teams.

Agree with this.
If we go for it though, not if we respect them too much and start by being frightened.

That's if it's Arse.
If it's Leeds, the same!

If you consider we'll be nearing CL and Wenger will be wanting to push for 4th, I think he might be putting out a weakened side which gives us a greater chance. As long as McLeish doesn't do a Houllier

They've got to get past Leeds first though.

Time for Randy to wheel out the free coaches.
If it's Leeds we'll need Hummers with water cannons. Let's hope it's Arsenal and we can all have a good day out and hopefully keep my 40-1 voucher valid in the process.

With Man City out and either Man U or Liverpool leaving in round 4 and assuming we can knock Arsenal out, this is opening up nicely for a Villa triumph.

It's quite easy to score when the referee instructs the opposition to move out of the way while you kick it into an empty net, then awards you a ludicrous penalty.

That one still stings.  The main reason being that afterwards the ref would speak to the press about the penalty, but not the free kick.  Ignorant, arrogant cock-end knew he had done us, but wouldn't admit it!

If we rest players, after the reaction Houllier got last year, McLeish deserves any stick that would come his way. I don't think we will though. Arsenal's midweek game is on the Tuesday while ours in on the Wednesday, so it might be useful for us if the game is played on Sunday so Wenger is more tempted to rotate. Leeds, incidentally, play Small Heath the Tuesday after the 4th Round.

I can't believe they'd start RVP when they have a prem game at Bolton 3 days later so yep think Henry will start if he's fit.

9k of our fans down there would be brilliant, tickets should only be 20 quid ish aswell as they "only" charge away fans 32 quid for the league games which is commendable.

Yes but think of it this way, if Arsenal do go out, 1 of either Man U or Liverpool have to go out so that would just leave the remainder and Chelsea left in the Comp, and we can beat Chelsea.

So pain now, but maybe a day in the pleasure dome later.

Game was on TV here. Henry mustn't have a contract with the disposable razor company any more. I thought it was Viv Richards who came on. Swear he was offside for his goal, the cheating c***.

Lets face it he needed that extra yard, anybody else notice he could barely break into a trot, hope Keane has a bit more in his legs after his season.
Couldn't break into a trot? Sounds like Pires

I'd rather it were Leeds, but we've won twice in the last 3 years at the Emirates and can do it again. It would be quite amusing if Keane knocked them out.
On a night of "fairy tale magic" I like to think this too.....

Thinking about this, does any PL side have a better league record than us at the Emirates, in the five full seasons they've played there?

We've W2 D2 L1.

I can't imagine many teams have a better record than that.

I'm now about to get stupidly carried away and excited about this game.  Come on all you Villa boys and girls, get your arses down the Emirates and lets get behind the team.

<blackcountryvilla mode>

We'll be considered a small club if we don't sell this out.

Can't wait.....

However if those f****** at ESPN move this to Monday night I'll be fuming.

From the Leeds site I got the info from.

We will receive an initial allocation in the Lower Tier of the visitors section of approximately 5,100 tickets priced at £35 adults, £15 senior citizens 65+ and £14 for juniors under 16. Disabled tickets (wheelchair and ambulant) are priced at £17.50. A further allocation of approximately 3,700 tickets may be available in the Upper Tier. However, this allocation will only be available if there is sufficient demand and we can guarantee to sell all of this section. Prices in the Upper Tier would range from £41 to £50. The deadline for us to request the Upper Tier is 5pm on Sunday. Therefore, our usual sales period is shorter than usual but necessary on this occasion.

They charged Leeds fans 35 quid for a Monday night game?!

That surprises me a lot, pretty sure they don't charge that amount for premier league games.

I think the Henry story is a great one, and if it was happening at our club we'd be full of it!  I'm also glad he came on and scored in this game to get all the hype out of the way!
I think if we have a real go at them we can win.
I remember the Halsey/Henry free kick routine - it was almost as though Halsey had been rehearsing it with them down the training ground the way he ran out of the way so Henry could take it quickly, the twunt.

I know it's long in the past but I still get angry about this one. The Henry/Halsey free kick routine was one of the worst things of witnessed on a football field.

Marcus Allback was quoted after the game as saying that Halsey had asked him to ''get back 10 yards and wait for my whistle.''  So while they were getting the wall together Henry literally took his shot around Halsey without a whistle and the goal was allowed.

Fecking disgraceful and i've disliked Halsey ever since.  One of the most incompetent going around imo (and there's plenty of competition).

Can you imagine the stink Wenger and Fleet St would have made of it had this happened to them.

Have to say I think the Henry/Halsey thing is horrendous, the Henry hand ball thing is no more than a player taking full advantage in a spontaneous almost instinctive way, yes he cheated, and there was still a lot to do afterwards, if a player was playing for me with the World Cup at stake didn't do the same thing and give is all I'd friggin lynch him.

The Halsey/Henry thing is almost evil, there you have a ref working to give every possible advantage to the player to get that ball in the net, and then stands there laughing.

Beyond belief.

Ive never had a problem with that goal, and tbh guys, your comments are way ott.
First of all, was it a fair goal in law? YES
I say this because, anyone who has played or been involved in football at a decent level knows and understands the procedure here. The advantage must always be with the team who have the freekick, and not the defending team. When there is a free kick around the penalty area in shooting distance, the ref always asks the attacking team 'ten yards or a quick one?' In most cases, the atacking side prefer what is known as the 'ceremonial' kick where the ref gets the wall back ten yards and holds his whistle up to indicate this. Once the attacking team have asked for ten yards, they cant take it quickly, if so, its retaken, and the offending player is cautioned, however, if the defending team, are not ready, or slow in getting back.organised etc, and the attacket see's a gap to shoot in, then they are well within their rights to say 'quick one ref' in which case they take it there and then. If it goes belly up, then tough, but if they score, then the goal is a good one..If anything, our anger on this goal should have been directed at JPA who was bent down with his back to play, doing his laces up!!!! had he been standing up, facing play, then this would never have happened..Henry saw this, and used it to his advantage...Had Halsey been wrong in law, then i would have been the first one moaning, but he wasnt. Its really a case, of those who know the law understand why it was a goal, and those who dont not understanding and being upset. One last point, there is nothing wrong with the ref having a laugh/joke with the players at that situation, it happens in games at all levels week in week out.

I'd agree with you to a point, but my problem came when Marcus Allback claimed afterwards that he's been asked to ''go back 10 and wait for my whistle'' by Mark Halsey.  If Allback was to be believed, and who are we to doubt him, then Halsey has clearly mislead the defending team.  I think anybody who knows the game will tell you that misleading the defending team to favour the attacking team isn't a role that a partial Referee should adopt.

Halsey commented after the match;

"I can understand their frustration at conceding a goal that way - but I'm under no obligation to inform the Aston Villa players that Henry was going to take a quick free-kick.

"You are under no obligation to give a whistle for any free-kick."

And he probably wonders why nobody rates him as a Ref.............................................................

but Halsey is standing so close to the ball he is obscuring it from some Villa players eyes, i have no problem with quick free kicks, i have a problem when the ref is part of the wall.
he's still only just moving away when the ball is actually kicked, he is causing an obstruction which favours the atacking side in an unfair manner.
you talk about the law, i'm talking about fairness,
if the ref is obscuring the sight of the ball from the players then that cannot be right, he might as well have had a red shirt on he was more involved in the goal than anyone else on the pitch apart from Henry,

definitely unfair practise in my view

Have to say I think the Henry/Halsey thing is horrendous, the Henry hand ball thing is no more than a player taking full advantage in a spontaneous almost instinctive way, yes he cheated, and there was still a lot to do afterwards, if a player was playing for me with the World Cup at stake didn't do the same thing and give is all I'd friggin lynch him.

The Halsey/Henry thing is almost evil, there you have a ref working to give every possible advantage to the player to get that ball in the net, and then stands there laughing.

Beyond belief.

And lets not forget the penalty he awarded to Fulham against Arsenal, the Arsenal players surrounded him complaining and he changed his mind.

The bloke is a complete ******.

Liverpool v Man U is Saturday 12.45 live on ITV but still no news on our game.

ITV have the first and 3rd pick. So we are likely to be 5.30 Saturday as ESPN's main pick. If not we will be 3rd pick and on ITV Sundat 3.30.

If you don't mind being able to only use the slow trains you can normally get Brum-London returns for £19.00 on redspottedhanky. It's what I used when I had to do some work in London last year and I only booked a few days before travelling.

Everyone should use this game to forget about the League push the boat out and see it as a chance to take as many as we can and try and enjoy ourselves, god knows we need it, I was at Chelsea and haven't seen scenes like that for ages, kissing strangers, hugging Chelsea stewards and rolling down the steps and that was with about 1000 of us, Imagine taking 8000 to Arsenal and winning.

Get your pass outs, get your hair cut, find your old Adidas Samba's and your sergio tacchini tracksuits, drink 10 cans of Stella an the 9.15 from New Street, Sing your hearts out on the Tube to Finsbury Park, Meet me and the Kingston massive (if we get tickets) in the 12 pins, stop traffic with silly dancing at the traffic lights, march en-mass to the ground and   LETS AV IT like its 1981!!!!

Usually you don't get to drink outside the ground when you use official travel, but we did when there were free coaches to Chelsea. I think the weight of numbers turns it into a logistical nightmare which leave them with no alternative but to let us loose on the streets of London for a couple of hours before the game.

2011 Carling Cup Final
Starting line-up: Foster Carr Johnson Jiranek Ridgewell Larsson Ferguson Fahey Gardner Bowyer Zigic
Subs: Taylor Murphy Parnaby Beausejour Phillips Jerome Martins

Only the players in bold remain.

So that's only 6 players out of 18.

You're midtable in a shite Championship. That's hardle "doing well".

No we are midtable in the top-ranked league in Europe.

To be fair, what do you expect when your posts are normally the polar opposite of the general view of most Villa fans?

Most people on here are keen to see vibrant discussion of differing views but starting threads like (and I'm paraphrasing here) 'Should we change the club's name to include Birmingham?' and 'Villa Park - what's the point in expanding it when we can't even sell out what we've got' would appear to be deliberate attempts to wind most Villa fans up.  Not to mention your almost encyclopedic knowledge of the Blues squad!

It's hardly surprising you get accused of coming over from SHA for a wind up.

Absolutely. The words gift horse and mouth spring to mind. I'd decided not to go to this as driving (park at High Wycombe then train in) would cost me about £60 + £35 for the ticket; train from Kiddie to London would cost about the same, and to be honest spending best part of £100 for a game is not something I can afford these days. Free coach from VP brings the game back to affordable and has got me thinking of going now.

Being anal I've just checked that out, section 117 is not where the extra allocation would be given but more or less above where our allocation downstairs starts around the corner, allowing, if needed, all of the sections above our first allocation.

The club have stated that they will take the extra tickets if there is demand. They can't have already decided to relinquish this when only the 1500 who went to Bristol have had a chance to buy. Surely that decision will be made in two or three more days.

I wasn't going as I have been to the Emirates before but with FREE COACH TRAVEL I am  definitely going.
If we are getting up to 8,000 tickets, there is no reason these cannot all be sold with well over 100 coaches going.

It will be a fantastic atmosphere ( at least in our end anyway).
Playing a near full strength side in the last round and now this says to me that this season we are treating the FA Cup as a top priority. There are lots of things we can criticise about our club right now, but the attitude being shown towards the Cup - a cup that so many of us are desperate to see us win in our lifetime - is refreshing to see.

They need this mentioned on Midlands Today and in the Birmingham Mail. I havent been online much the last couple of days and only found out because someone phoned to tell me.

According to people of VT the Ticket office are close to selling the first allocation. Strange really after what they told me yesterday, although today is season ticket holder day.

Got my tickets about 10.30 this morning and and we are on coach 19. On the basis that perhaps 2/3rds (?) will go by coach, we can work out from this the rate at which tickets are selling if others give their coach number.

What was the initial allocation ? 5,000 ? Are you saying we have already sold 4,750 to ST holders alone in 3 days ? If that is the case we should be taking up the full entitlement of 9,000 and shouting the roof off their ground.

If it makes you feel better, I am a season ticket holder, I miss a few home games, and I moan a lot about chairman and manager, but can confirm that the idea of spending 3 hours each way on a coach with the sort of pissed up fifteen year old bell ends free coach travel attracts is about as appealing as having my testicles walked over by Richard Dunne.

That's unfair. It's still £35 for an adult ticket and thousands are willing to give over  the whole of their Sunday to back us in a contest where the bookies will still have Arse as favourites to go through. Money is tight for a lot of people and the free travel just makes it a more economically realistic choice for many. Hopefully, with us having almost as many away fans for this as Wolves/SHA could muster between them for a local derby game tonight, the Cup will weave a little magic in our favour.

Travelled by coach a couple of times last season due to being on crutches.  Before even leaving the car park for one game, there was a young lad collapsed in the car park due to being totally p****d.  An ambulance had to be called.

He never made it to the game.

We shall be making alternative travel arrangements for the cup game.

Something like this must surely take up a massive proportion of Birmingham's coach capacity. Hardings as mentioned, Den Caney, Ellisons, Hollywood, all the big dogs of the coach world will be coiniing it in.

They'll probably have to resort to hiring Transits from Shirley-U-Drive.

We may even see the return of Sealandair for coach 1 with all the old faces on board. Muffin and his mates. Women who would pass sandwiches around the coach. Any young person being very well behaved and treated like a grandchild by all the old folk on board. That was the old Travellers Club. By the time the young ones got back on after the match, they would be pissed and the 'family' would disown them until the next trip.

Me and the Mrs were driving through Italy last summer, and got stuck waiting in a huge queue on the motorway at the toll booths.

I looked to the right, and saw three Johnsons coaches in a row.

I'm not too proud to admit, it fair brought a tear to my eye, seeing a little chunk of Henley in Arden there, the other side of Europe.

I'm only jealous Andy because I can't go, not seriously knocking anyone who travels away in these times - I remember going to Everton in 2000 when we took loads, one of my fav Villa away days. The poor allocations mean the FA Cup is the only chance we have these days to recreate those mass invasion forces of yesteryear where the home fans just look in shock at the hordes of claret and blue. It will be magic and about time we made some new memories.....

They start going on sale to non season-tickets holders starting from tomorrow (friday). Check here and scroll down. It says that from this Tuesday they are on sale to anybody with any sort of ticket purchasing history - I would interpret that as being as long as your not walking in the ticket office wearing an Arsenal hat they are unlikely to refuse anybody tickets.

Yes, indeed, Frank - I like to get my wife along periodically to remind her that I am not the only Villa fan in the world. It can sometimes feel that way stuck in this corner of West Sussex. I still remember seeing that realisation dawn in my two young daughters' eyes when I took them to the Chelsea 'free coach' LC cup match a few seasons back. They had never met another Villa fan until then and I think they were wondering if Aston Villa even existed. My wife's first match was the Charity Shield in 81/82 at Wembley, 2-2 against Spurs!

as if by magic.....

http://thefullback.co.uk/

We went here before the League game, great pub with lots of different bars and full of character and a short walk to......

 http://www.twelvepinspub.co.uk/

massive pub that was full of Villa fans and a great place for a sing song and only a short walk to.....

http://www.viewlondon.co.uk/pubsandbars/the-auld-triangle-info-19033.html for a wee and a quick one before the ground.

Avoid the Drayton at all costs, when I've been there its always in the process of being smashed up or closed by the Police due to overcrowding arseholes. Most of the Pubs on the Holloway road will be Arsenal fans only but theres a few on the Blackstock Road, leading from Finsbury Park that could be ok.

Are you going Hoppo?

The coaches leave at 11am in the morning. Given that the match starts at 4pm, does anyone think there will be enough time to visit a pub before the game?

Yes

Don't bank on that.  Depending on how the journey is going, they could stop on the motorway to kill time.
And then there's having to escape the warm and tender embrace of The Mets Finest, who'll no doubt want to get us straight to the ground. Should we start an escape committee? :)

Coaches have to arrive at the ground 1-2 hours before kick-off. There's no way, given the distance between where they park and the turnstiles, that you won't be able to do what you want on arrival.

I think there's a London contingent in the 12 Pins next to Finsbury Park tube. Wish wish wish I could make this, but Uni work has to take priority :(

booked my ticket the other day and really looking forward to my first away game EVER!

Awesome. I enjoy aways much more than home games, and our last trip to Arsenal was one of the best aways I've ever been to.

I've heard away games are brill and the support is fantastic.  Really cant wait.  Last season must have been brill at the emirates as we beat them and loads of people in fancy dress right?  Saw a video clip on youtube of all villa fans signing a song about the blues about them going down or something like that? Looked awesome

I wa stold that Aresenal have specifuied no limit and we can sell as many as we want. The  chap couldn't yell me how mant tickets we have sold but he said the average number per coach was 50 so based on that we have about 2000 on coches so far and I guess about a 1000 or so making  their own way.

My wife is coming and she has a similar pedigree. 2-2 in the Charity Shield Spurs, 2-0 home to Everton, 5-1 home to Bolton, 5-1 Birmingham.....and plenty of other examples. I think she may have seen us lose once back in the early 80s away at Spurs in the Cup when we stood - very quietly - on the Shelf at WHL

The Auld Triangle, St Thomas Road N4 2QH, is usually lively. Good pint of Guinness at the right price. Irish music on Sunday evenings!
Otherwise The Wenlock Arms in N1/EC1 nr Old St tube. Villa supporters always welcome. Everybody is welcome! Great range of Real Ales.

Most of them around there and on Highnbury high street will be home only.

The usual away pub is Drayton Pub by the away end but it will be rammed no doubt.

Dunno what time the coaches get in but if it's reasonably early you can always get the train/tube into St Pancreas or Euston and find a decent boozer from there.

I live near Finsbury Park and this is where the majority of coaches will drop fans off.  It is a good 20 / 25 min stroll to the ground on matchday, as the walk takes you past the congested arsenal tube station.  I would highlight this, as it is tempting to get a last beer in at 3.30pm, but you will miss kick off!

Unfortunately most of the pubs will be home supporters only, so the twelve pins is the only real away friendly pub in the vicinity of finsbury park and will be rammed. There will be a couple of dozen riot wagons keeping an eye on things as arsenal fans spill out of the pub over the road.

There is a cracking pub 5 mins walk away called The Faltering Fullback - check out the beer garden, but you best find out if you will get in, otherwise its an even longer walk.

I've lived in North London a while, so if you want any info about pubs in a particular location / tube stop, then let me know

Not sure about this to be honest, I get the feeling that they still badly need a Cup in the trophy cabinet, and will probably see us as opposition they should beat. I reckon the big boys will be out, but I hope I'm wrong.

On paper are there "big boys" actually any good?  RVP, yes.  The Ox lad looks good and very dangerous...I'm struggling after that.  Ramsey, of course, a decent player...They are a good side and on their day they can give poor sides a beating.  I just don't think we are a poor side.  I think we have some very decent players too.

No doubt they have the players that could and should beat us but they are fragile and have weakness, no fullbacks, Mertersacker, Rosisky, Song ,Walcott (which one turns up), Arsharvin, if we get our system and attitude right but more importantly our defence manages to hold together we can do this,

The natives are on the verge of revolt, and we could be the tipping point. How sweet will it be at 6.pm to hear the first "We want Wenger out." chants.
We should give their defence a hard time right from KO and bully them into submission, don't give them a chance to play tappy tap football.
Us grinding them down and winning 1-0 will do me.
Booked yesterday and tickets arrived this morning. Coach 22.
Yesterday I spent the princely sum of £18 to watch two matches this week  £3 to watch the kids take a giant step towards a European Semi Final tomorrow night and £15 for Sundays shindig.  A bargain by any standards.
I've noticed that the match ticket is a full priced one at £35 although I booked as an over 65, so does this mean that Arsenal aren't doing any concessions and that AVFC are doing them off their own back?
If this is the case then well done to the club.

Villa's FA Cup allocation at Arsenal now sold out (http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~2587906,00.html)

Quote
Villa's allocation for the FA Cup clash with Arsenal is now sold out.

Alex McLeish's men will be backed by 5,200 supporters on Sunday as they aim to reach the fifth round at the Emirates Stadium.

They will travel down on 60 coaches in free transport put on by the club to help try and roar Villa through in the capital encounter.

Nicola Keye, head of consumer sales, was thrilled with the fast take-up of tickets for the exciting evening clash.

She said: "It's great to see the Villa fans snap up their seats so quickly.

"It just shows their devotion to the club and also the magic of the FA Cup.

"Villa have a terrific tradition, having won it seven times, and we thought it would be great to give Alex and the lads the best chance possible to get through. There's no better sound than the fans cheering the boys on.

"The away support is always boisterous and the travelling contingent can be heard singing their hearts out week after week.

"With this amount of claret and blue fans there on the night, travelling down on the club coaches, I'm sure it will create quite some atmosphere."

The fourth round clash kicks-off at 4pm on Sunday.

Coaches will leave Villa Park at 11am and the drop-off and pick-up point in the capital will be at Finsbury Park, which is approximately 20 minutes walk away from the Emirates Stadium.

Sorry CD not what I meant although maybe you know!  I just meant to ask TRS-T if sundays were difficult to get away to watch a match because of family commitments.
Not sure what his latest post from the villa publicity is in aid of, though.

Oh right, 'sold out'.  And you are desperate to go., so I have some arsenal mates who could sort you out?

Why does the club never push for the maximum allocation?

Leeds took 9,000 last year.

We should have been taking the same, especially considering the free coaches.

Have you got your ticket yet?

No.
Do you want a ticket?

Not sure.

You might have to go in with the Arsenal fans if you don't hurry up.

MY Arsenal mate reckons the away coaches park up by the stadium (Queensland Road). Was just curious as someone said it was on the OS that they were parking 20 mins away in Finsbury.

going to stay away from Finsbury Park as it will be rammed, might get up to Highbury corner instead for a beverage.

To be honest, selling 5200 tickets for an away game to a team we play year in, year out, is fantastic. Especially givne it is only the 4th round of the cup and at 4pm on a Sunday. If it had been 3pm on Satursday I think we may have sold the entire 9000.

Yeah me too.

They do come seperately, but if you haven't had your coach ticket by, say, Friday, it might be worth ringing them to be on the safe side. I imagine they have your name and will let you on the coach without the actual ticket if you phone in advance.

Anybody know if the Leisure Centre Car Park will be open ? 60 coaches going means a lot of vehicles heading to VP.
I know it was open for the Chelsea trip , but they were non-committal when I asked the question in the ticket office a few days back.

I can understand people not going to a game because they can't afford it, or it's on TV, or they just don't fancy it – but I've never heard the excuse before that "I'm not going unless we sell 8,999 tickets!"

If you assume the coaches don't leave until about 1115, due to latecomers and no shows, plus the sheer congestion of getting 60 coaches onto the M6, I reckon it will be 1130 before reaching Spaghetti. About 2 1/2 hours to Arsenal plus 30 mins at the services equals 230pm, assuming no other delay. Half hour walk to the ground. You should be able to sneak a couple of beers in. The coach operators will know what they are doing and the Police won't want 3000 late arrivals in coaches. They will probably give you an escort at some stage to speed things up.

I don't think they'll give a shit about latecomers, they'll want to push off as soon as they can. 2pm arrival at the latest, I reckon.

Then, it's see which pubs the majority are heading off to, then leg it in the opposite direction.  :P

On the odd occasion we've travelled on the official coaches they have always been about 15 minutes late leaving.

It'll be no mean task co-ordinating 3,000 people on to the coaches.

not used official travel before i take it?! on the couple of horrific occassions i've had to use it, they've left half past the hour they were meant to be leaving, had a scheduled and unnecessary - especially given we'd left half an hour late - 45 minute stop at a services (which turned into an hour..) for qpr, and for the portsmouth game, we didn't get to the ground until half an hour before. always seemed like they do their level best to get you there as late as possible. 2pm's a pipe dream if you ask me.

i'll be down in the smoke and on my third by the time they even think about leaving witton lane!!

Oh it matters. Post League Cup final defeat we went back to Harrow and had the mother of all sing songs while various non-plussed cokney Newton Heath fans looked on in silence. And that says it all, it's not about winning, it's about your club, what's in your heart and local pride.

Sat next to the most vile, foul pond life Ever on block 26. Constant homophobic, racist and threats of extreme violence and spitting on the woman in front of him. Told the police and stewards came over as he was threatening to stab the Irish fuckers and hoping their mothers die of aids. Spineless team also. Wish I hadn't of bothered.

It depends on who comes in. I still think we need to work on the midfield. There is no real engine in there. I wouldn't ship defenders out without replacing them.

First half he was calling van Perdue a fag, homosexual, pedophile etc. second half, foreign ****** (has some foreign people in front of us), general racism, lots of abuse for Ramsey for being welsh, wanted his mother to die of aids or cancer. He went wild after their first and got worse so I reported and removed him just after their third.

I'm the first to moan at ticket prices etc, but fair play to all at the club for putting on the free coaches today.

They don't have to do it, but it's very much appreciated.

Thanks from me and my three.

I was born a couple of years after we last won the cup – I've seen us win everything else worth winning and I WILL see us win this effing cup too one day. It'll be worth the long wait.

Hope the guy who collapsed down by one of the coaches afterwards is ok and managed to home alright.

Another thing I was told and deserves praise is that Arsenal laid on a bus to get old/disabled supporters from the coaches to the road over the bridge where the coaches normally park.

Well I enjoyed the whole day out apart from the second half. They raise your hopes so much just for you to get kicked in the guts - but then thats the Villa for you. Half time I was feeling young again, Darren Bent scoring from that angle made me think of Brian Little.
Second visit to the Emirates and although it full of fickle cockney wankers, I'm getting to like the stadium. They at least try to celebrate their history with the stuff all round the outside walls, but someone really should throw a pot of paint on the O'Dreary picture.
Had a look at the old Highbury for the first time (oh, walking along that street in 1981), and again credit for how two stands have been retained and turned into apartments, you can still picture a football ground was there. I commented to my brother how it was so much better than if it had just been flattened and had a supermarket put on it. But he said it wouldn't have worked the same at Fellows Park.
I was born 23 days after Johnny Dixon lifted the cup for Villa. The first time I saw us knocked out was when my Dad took me to Liverpool for a 4th round tie in 1967, we lost 1-0.
I think 2013 will be our year, when is the draw for the 3rd round ?

I have mixed emotions about yesterday.  1) it was my first away game and loved every minute of it 2) The heart break from leading 0-2 at half time and to finish 3-2 was just a shock to the system.  The villa fans were amazing first half but for obvious reasons, not so much 2nd half.  We truly have 2 of the worst full backs in the prem and a lacklustre midfield which cannot control the game.  IMO, the 2 penalty decisions were spot on by the ref and Richard Dunne needs to count himself very lucky for not gettting sent off.  It was a needless challenege which Given would have easily collected and Darren Bent should never have gone to ground to give away the 2nd.  Carlos had the player covered.  RvP should have been sent off for a deliberate elbow but that wouldnt have made a difference as the damage was already done by then.

Regarding the emirates, what a fantatic stadium but the same cant be said about the fans.  I thought Villa park was quiet on match days but these cockneys take that prize.  As someone posted earlier, i like they way they celebrate their history around the ground - gives it a nice touch.  It also very good of them to keep the 2 old stands of highbury.

A very SMALL part of me, and I do mean very small, is happy we are out of the FA cup just so we can fully concentrate on the league and securing a place for next season.

as others have already said, it is also my firm belief that if we had led by 3 or 4 at half time it would have made no difference,
Arsenal smelt the fear in our team as soon as the second half began, they could have scored as many as they needed to win the game.

another thing i agree with so many posters on here is the Hope thing,
yesterday in London i was asked many times how i thought we would do, every time i said we'd lose, this is what i expected,
but when you go 2 nil up at HT you do start to hope and beleive this could be it, only yet again to have your dreams smashed to pieces,
its beginning to get cruel supporting Villa,
i know we will never give up but i'm getting pig sick of it happening like this so many times

We really lack a leader on the pitch to calm things down or take control of the situation.  I said to my brother and cousin after the game on the way back to Finsbury park that had we had MON in charge we would not have lost that game in the manner in which we did.  We had believe back then but the last 2 seasons, the confidence has all but gone from the players and even the support.

When you watch that match you can see so starkly the positives and negatives at Villa Park at the moment. We have some decent players, particularly some exciting attacking players and some good promising youngsters and we've got a top draw goalie. But the problems start from the back and we won't be able to progress until something is done there. We need to hope that we can hold a mid-table position this season and bring some of the kids along more. Then in the summer if there is any cash he has to rebuild almost completely from the back, including finding a real commanding centre half who can organise the defense. On top of that a centre midfielder is needed that can lead the team. If we can manage that then we will have a decent team that can challenge the top-6. Problem is do we have the cash, can we keep our current best players, Will Big Eck be able to spot the correct players?

Our defence is an absolute joke and no one has confidence in them.  Warnock and Hutton need to be banished to the reserves.  I've said it before and ill say it again, now we know why GH dropped Warnock all together.  Only problem is we have no cover in those 2 positions and Eck will continue to play Hutton no matter what.
I think Eck is capable of finding the right defenders I mean, look who he bought for the blouse.  Dann and Johnson were top singings for them, especially in their first season back in prem under eck.  We also need another winger or two to add some competition for Zoggy and Albrighton.

Yes it was but dont forget that he also bought 2 central defenders which were the rock at the back of the noses defence which ultimately made it difficult from teams to break them down.  Im not saying every signing of his is good as it clearly isnt but sometimes, you have to give credit where credit is due and he deserves it for the signings of Dann and Johnson.  as a combination they were good.

I have got over yesterday pretty quick which is a bit of a worry, I am getting used to being let down and shrug it off fairly easily these days, if they give us 3 points against QPR I will forgive them yesterdays nightmare.
Hutton and Warnock are just so terrible but we are going to have to suffer them for the rest of this season and continue to suffer Hutton next season as well, what a sobering thought that is. UTV

The thing with Blues is they were very much 4-5-1 with the midfield protecting the defence, he did'nt have the attacking players that we have so he needs to find a balance between attack and defence.
