Rice back today? Talk of resting him because it's Congo is risky, better off starting Henderson if he's not fit though rather than just Anderson by himself. Spence is very average but his pace alone should give better balance on right flank and help Saka come in field more. Narrow win in 90mins id say.

I think so.

Tuchel stated in an interview yesterday that Rice was rested mainly because he was on a yellow card.

Rice back in for Rogers, Spence for Quansah, Madueke for Saka.

Apparently.

Watching World Cup Breakfast on Sky. At the break they had a distorted picture of a footballer during a game and the question was “who scored this iconic World Cup goal?”

The answer was Joe Cole against Sweden in 2006. I have no memory of it at all. Iconic? The bar is low in England.

As a counter-argument, I reckon I can remember that one more than any other England World Cup goal in the last twenty years. It was brilliant.

Yeah, my memory is terrible and it's one of the few England goals I really remember.

About what you'd expect.

At least Saka isn't playing. Let's see if Madueke can cross a ball or even pass to another English shirt. You can understand dropping Rogers when nobody passes the ball to him. Rashford was as guilty as Saka, going for personal glory every time when Kane and Rogers were there waiting for the tap in. Wankers!

One thing for sure.

Madueke and Spence should never be on the pitch at the same time, ever.

Madueke never got bsck to support Sprnce
Spence never got forward to support Madueke

And in the last 20 mins, why was O,'Reilly ip in the nix so much?
Surely Watkins/Rogers/Toney would be better up there?

Their goal was down to the lack of tracking back by madueke

Madueke and Spence were fucking terrible. Madueke with endless shit balls, Spence looking like a competition winner.

Move Konsa to right back, FFS. Obviously Saint Declan isn't going to be asked to play a whole match there.

Anyway, we lack - with the one exception - the mentality to go and win in Mexico.

A disappointing night on the pitch but, having watched the national and local news bulletins, England fans still lead the world in throwing beer over each other.

Thought Bellingham was a bit lucky at the end, applauding the ref after he gave the foul against him.

Do not underestimate the prevalence of Tim Henman syndrome in the Mexican psyche. It's one of the reasons I loved being there. Nobody really expects results - it's about drama and having a story to tell afterwards.

Almost entirely. A fact not mentioned by any of the wankers commentating or by any since.

I thought the opposite. Spence got forward quite alot, and O'Reilly was in the mix most of the match and not just in the last 20 mins. The problems were both fullbacks were getting forward instead of one holding, one going like we normally do. Also they were both underlapping too much and running into the box at the same time. This added even more players in the box as the defender marking them went with them instead of being forced wide, so even harder to cross the ball or thread a pass through.

I actually think England have enough quality players to do well.
But the manager has pissed around and even now in the round of 16 hasn’t an actual fucking friggin idea of either A what is his best starting 11 or B what formation we are trying to play.
It’s gonna be fun in Mehico City.
Wonder how many people will stay up to watch it?
I remember as a very young adult watching the 86 Mexico World Cup on screens at Faces nightclub. Happy days.
