When Scotland go home in a few days, who is going to be begging the Americans for approval?
You really can be an unpleasant bastard, you know.

What does it even mean anyway?

I know social media isn’t the real world but on it there has been a definite theme of Scotland supporters going on and on about how much nicer they are than England fans and how the Americans love them by comparison to the English etc etc etc.
I understand what he was referring to, I just found his way of putting it unnecessarily nasty. It's not even as if the Scotland fans really were "begging for the Americans for approval", is it?

No different then 94's comments then about how the Irish was loved and isn't it great that England fans weren't there to ruin it. Although tbh, Boston* would be more Scots leaning then English leaning anyway even though it is in New England and named after an English town.

*The tea hating bastards.

The ones I have seen are. I personally don't think saying their behaviour is begging is nasty, although it doesnt seem to stop you making "nasty" comments to me. Makes you think.

The English with their MAGA hats.

Not seen any of them. Seen a few stickers telling the Americans its time to come home after 250 years of hurt and make America Great Britain again. Solid bants.

I’ve seen a few, but they’re the usual type you’d expect. Mostly seems good natured, other than the sad German Bombers stuff.

Considering that in the bad old days, Scotland had as much of a hooligan problem as England, it is to credit to the followers of their national team that they have long since cleaned up their act, embraced the cliches that people around the world identity as being Scottish and genuinely seem to enjoy the moment.  The scarcity of tournament qualifications is probably a large part of this is, but the fact that their presence in both Germany and the States has been received so positively is to their credit.

It probably helps that the reputation of both sets of supporters goes before them
When Scotland are in town it's party time. When England arrive the disaffected youth of the locale can misbehave knowing who will get the blame. The agenda had already been set in Boston before the first English fans got there, and finding the main Irish bar closed and gloating doesn't help. In fact, given Boston's traditional links with the more politicised sections of the Irish diaspora, it was daft having them there at all.

If you notice Scotland fans don’t wear club colours or have club names on their flags for the obvious reasons
