It's an extended version of the current stand, and so should keep it's name.  Though expect it to be some kind of sponsored thing for PSR purposes

I don't disagree with this, but 'North Stand' is a bit bland. Maybe make it more specific to Villa by calling it 'The Northolt End'.

Yep, in the unfortunate world of FFP, anyone willing to chuck us the requisite spondoolies can have their name on it for the season.

I don't like using names for stands, location or reference to something inanimate is better.

I'd call it the Witton End Stand. It's at the Witton End and it's a stand.

Just the Witton End would be fine.

Well yes, but unfortunately there are too many people in the world who need things described specifically and in great detail because they are as thick as mince. See also: Holte End Stand.

Just the Witton End would be fine.

I think as it's waited so long for its turn to be upgraded, we should name it The Last Stand.

Have we had a Last play for us?

Don't believe so, there hasn't even been one at Northampton Town.

AN Other. Whilst I think Ron Saunders is our greatest ever manager, although Unai may supplant him, and Brian little is my all time favourite player, it should be called the Tony Barton Stand. Does not get the recognition he deserves in my view, and was the actual manager at the time of our greatest ever achievement.

The Ross McCormack Stand.

He'd never get over it if we didn't.

The Witton End or The George B. Ramsay Stand, for me.  I really hope we get a name change!

I wrote this nearly 7-years ago, and it remains my position:

I'm not keen on the idea of naming stands after people. For a start you are limited to four stands, and so just four people. Of course, Ron Saunders is arguably one of the four most significant figures in the history of the club at this point in time, but why accept that will always be the case? Much better in my opinion to have suites, bars, lounges and statues named after people.

Naming stands after people interrupts the continuous lineage from them being banks of earth, as well as the ground being located in a specific place, with a particular relationship to its surroundings, rather than a spaceship that has just landed there. I would extend this to the North stand being called the North Stand rather than the Witton End also. Of course it exists at the north end of the ground, but that is not relevant to your experience of being there. It being at the Witton end of the ground is much more relevant and therefore natural.

I suppose I also have a problem with the act of naming stands, rather than them being known as what they have always been known as, and this being somewhat mysterious and shrouded in history. Essentially I don't need Villa Park to be a theme park, I need it to be a mythical place that goes down through the ages. If we were to relocate to another site, and had to invent the history to a certain extent, then the situation might be different.
