Thanks for the clarification Olaf. It's still pretty shit though isn't it?

Not at all as their models are pretty good at calculating how many on average won't turn up. Worst case, they'll offer money/credit for VDB (Voluntary Denied Boarding) and keep increasing it until they have enough takers.

This case is different though. They are telling people the flight has been cancelled then when the Vila supporters are looking to rebook they see th flight is still occurring as scheduled .so it’s some sort of issue with the third party booking agencies.

I thought it was just in America where they overbook flights?

Nope, can be a nice little earner, or at worst an upgrade to business class. LHR-MIA was always a good route for it, as they'd often oversell economy with tourists/cruise ship passengers, then roll the cabins forward and upgrade those with elite status.
Nope.
All major “long haul” carriers do it.

Yes that's out of order, but Aftab and Trinity were discussing overbooking. FWIW, I use the general sites to gauge prices/best airline options, but pretty much always book directly through the airline's site.

That does seem sensible. Glad I booked direct with Ajet!

My wife and I received codes for final tickets at 15.17 and 15.21 today for booking by 17.00. We only just noticed.

I'd paid for a price freeze on Pegasus flights directly which expired at about 10.30 am but whether we would've got on the flight anyway is anyone's guess.

What an absolute shitshow.

On the upside, we're spending a few days in Malta instead before watching the final on TV. Return flights and decent hotel for a tiny fraction of the price for being treated like utter shit by UEFA.

I can see there being plenty of empty seats in Istanbul.

Shit that you hadn’t noticed. There should have been some notice about this extra ballot. Although, I can’t imagine that there’ll be many empty seats. Someone else will snap up the seats that you haven’t bought.

I'm not blaming anyone because I don't know who's responsible, people will have missed out through no fault of their own but a paucity of information.

Despite 6 home tickets and two always officially I didn’t get a code yesterday.

I’ve been in meetings all day and didn’t get on email till 6pm. Saw I had a Villa email at 3-30 with a code to buy by 5pm. I tried but it was dead.I had simply assumed I was unlucky yesterday. Absolutely no communication from the Villa until then which was pish.

Luckily I bought via UEFA at an exorbitant price but could have put these for resale and bought from Villa at face value.

FWIW I THINK THEY SHOULD FOLLOW THEVilla vouchers method and allocate tickets based on attendance for all matches, not just the cup in question. I think this sales criteria was partly a reason for our shit support at Wembley last year. I say this as a member who goes to 30-35 games a season across all competitions.
