Looks like Pegasus Airlines are ripping people off by pretending flights are cancelled so they have to rebook at a higher price.

Hope not, I booked mine 2 months ago with them, I’m probably one of the ones they want to get a bit more out of

Looks like only if you booked via third parties like Expedia and Booking.com

I think it is quite common for airlines to oversell flights, as there are always people who don’t turn up.

And as is usual in the modern era, it’s better to fuck over your customers than risk making a little less profit that trip.

Never, ever check in at the airport unless you have no choice. The last people to check in will be the ones who get told they have no seat.

Didn't mean to click then!......how they can overbook a flight .The plane has e.g. 210 seats. When they have sold 210 seats it is full so don't sell any more unless there are cancellations. Airlines have been getting away with appalling service for years and treating customers like victims to be exploited.

From AI:Yes, overbooking flights is legal and allowed in the EU. However, it is strictly regulated under EU Regulation EC 261/2004. If you are denied boarding due to overbooking, the airline must offer compensation, assistance, and a choice between rerouting or a refund. Here are the key details regarding overbooking in the EU:Compensation Amount: If you are involuntarily denied boarding, you are entitled to compensation based on distance:€250 for flights up to 1,500 km.€400 for all intra-EU flights over 1,500 km, and for other flights between 1,500 km and 3,500 km.€600 for all other flights.

I’m not involved but there seems to be a loophole about the rebooking at a much higher charge. Presumably they can try and claim the difference in price back? Seems terrible they have done this and booking.com and Expedia should be taking steps to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

I wonder if booking.com and expedia just put a hold on the seat but don't pay upfront and now the Airline is bumping the prices as the payments are due.

My wife and I received codes for final tickets at 15.17 and 15.21 today for booking by 17.00. We only just noticed.

I'd paid for a price freeze on Pegasus flights directly which expired at about 10.30 am but whether we would've got on the flight anyway is anyone's guess.

What an absolute shitshow.

On the upside, we're spending a few days in Malta instead before watching the final on TV. Return flights and decent hotel for a tiny fraction of the price for being treated like utter shit by UEFA.

I can see there being plenty of empty seats in Istanbul.

Nope, can be a nice little earner, or at worst an upgrade to business class. LHR-MIA was always a good route for it, as they'd often oversell economy with tourists/cruise ship passengers, then roll the cabins forward and upgrade those with elite status.
