If he'd have sulked around with a face like a slapped arse, then yes , no sympathy (even though the scenario is still the same). He hasn't though , from what I can see. He's lost any chance of being in the world cup squad through no fault of his own after joining in good faith.

It is his fault too ( or his agent ) because there was always that possibility when you arrange a deal like this it could happen

It is a short career though  so It is a shame he has wasted a year and nobody could really use him in that time

The deal was constructed that way by Liverpool to help us get around the financial restrictions last summer. Will be a long time I suspect before we have any transfer dealings with Liverpool again. Any club doing a loan agreement with us will be ultra cautious after our stunt here. Sure that's business I guess and Monchi takes the fall.

If Emery goes with a B team tonight then maybe Elliot gets a sympathy run out. No point playing Sancho again. Bailey possibly in the off chance he does something that might generate interest for him in the summer.

Elliot will get a sympathy run out at the Etihad if we're all wrapped up.

The whole deal intrigues me though, Emery cannot have signed off on it knowing the terms were what they were, evidently from how the season has gone, or if he did he very quickly made his mind up that it wasn't going to work.

We'll always have his impressive cameo in the Xmas Villa ad.

He'll do a sit-down interview in the summer with the Grauniad or Times and tell us his truth, wholly unvarnished.
