Seeing increasing chatter on social media that we're trying to keep him and sign him on a free?  I get the appeal of the 'free' bit, but surely his wage demands will be a problem?

I would hope to see us sign a more impactful wide player this summer, but if Bailey is going, I'm not averse to Sancho staying for continuity's sake, especially if his wage demands aren't stupid.

Would his performance level in the past season not a bigger problem? He's a complete fraud of a footballer. So much ability but no heart.

He was okay, wasn't he? Fraud is far too strong.

On a free and 100k a week, then maybe if Unai believes in him. I just don't think he's good enough for a top PL side though.

I think he's really, really shit and not worth more than £50k a week. More assists for the opponents than his own team.

100k as there's no transfer fee was my thinking.

He gradually came to the fore I felt last season, but faded again towards the end. He definitely contributed to our play and our success, although his personal output in terms of goals and assists was poor. If he could correct that and the wages were right, I could be persuaded.

It would be a bit underwhelming if he was one of our much needed wide forward signings. I can only think the recruitment tram are thinking it will be easier to replace just Bailey when they move him on than both.

I'll just leave it to Unai to decide if he's worth it or not.
If Unai wants him it's fine by me. We can all have our opinions but Unai knows best.

He's been rubbish.  An odd five minutes here and there is no justification to sign him, even on a free.  I don't doubt Unai at all and if he signs Sancho, I will back him in the hope that he needs to be loved and will get better, but, he's not done anything to earn being at Villa next season.
Yes, for a former international, mature footballer he didn't half flatter to deceive.

Very poor - if he is our highest paid player, should he not be the best player in the team

Again not worth signing in my opinion

Well yes, but I can’t see any scenario where we sign him and he is the most highly paid player.

Yes, I wouldn't but my guess is that we will sign him. The only case for optimism, is that for some of Unai's signings it takes a while: Youri/Pau/Maatsen

I always thought there was more to come from Sancho. I think we’ve only seen hints of what he can do.

I do think he has some humility and a good attitude, and obviously gets on well with the squad.

On a free, with his age, and a pre-season and six months of already working with the coaches, I can see that happening if the wages and signing on fee suit us.

I agree strongly with that - to be honest, it's impressed me more than his actual footballing contribution.

Yeah, deference to Mings at the trophy presentation was a telling moment.
