Sorry to read this, Skerra. I can’t help but feel that we’re all being tested now to see how long we can possibly hang on to our season tickets. It seems now as if every season the rules of the game change, as if the club are shaking the tree and see how many fall out. It’s not a pleasant means by which to cleanse your fanbase, that’s for sure. All my opinion, of course.

Thy seem to be doing a very good job of signaling that they don’t give a toss about the supporters.

Each year I say to myself at ST renewal that ‘this year will probably be my last’, but I genuinely think that this time.  Whilst there’s been some incredible high moments over these last few years, I feel like I’m falling out of love with it all.

Obviously everyone's situation is different, but only ill health would stop me from going to Villa park. No doubt the club will continue to abuse this.

Me too John. And I’ve just paid for a plaque on the legacy wall as well, with the wife and kids names on it. Then again, we did meet there and the kids wouldn’t exist if we hadn’t, so it’s nice to have a physical artefact of a lovely moment.

Cheers Skerra, same to you.

Thinking about it now, The Villa is and has been such a huge part of my life. I could easily have been one of Peter Morris’s little kids running about looking for Brian Little, as the ground was our adventure playground around that time on weekdays and in summer holidays, and we did manage to get into some corridors on our adventures. Things only intensified in my teenage years, when I made hundreds of friends there and got into many scrapes going home and away. I then worked there for over twenty years, and as I say, met my future wife there while selling the fanzine on Trinity Road. Two of my books are heavily Villa-centric. Like The Beat, I just can’t stop it.

To paraphrase someone or other “ you can tear my season ticket from my cold dead hand.”

I don’t get the negativity myself, this is the best we have been in my 35 years supporting barring the mid 90s and the Lerner/MoN flirtation. More please….

I can't think of anything I'd rather do on a Saturday and its summers spent walking around shops on a Saturday that make me realise its well worth the cost of avoiding it for 9 months.

Fair point, however next season you’ll still be able to stroll those arcades on more Saturdays than not…

Meanwhile, it’ll allow me time to go and watch my old team, Rushden & Diamonds, on Saturdays and then watch the Villa on the box on Sunday’s. Win, win!!

Why on earth would anybody want to watch another side? Weird.

I didn’t realise they still existed! Rushden and Diamonds, not Villa.

They're a phoenix club now I think. The original merged club went bust.
