The ticket sales page is going to be a car crash for even more games now. They are whipping up demand.
I'm doubtful the demand this year will be as much as last year, when everyone was giddy from the European Cup.

You can guarantee the tickets page will crash even if we get Harrogate at home in the League Cup.

I felt the demand last season was noticeably lower than any of the previous 4 or 5 seasons - other than the Champions League games, you could buy tickets for most matches up until a day or two beforehand which hasn't been the case even when we were fighting relegation or had Stevie Me in charge.  And that is aside from the hundreds of GA+ seats that were clearly empty at a lot of games.

I have a feeling that was more to do with our mid season flirting with the mid table teams form. Turning wins into draws on a regular basis I think stifled a bit of demand. At the end of the season it seemed things were starting to pick up again, but take the point about demand in general.

I think plenty of people on here have said the way the club sells tickets to Members and beyond doesn’t help to fill Villa Park, for most games we always seem to end up with single seats spread everywhere which means looking for two or god forbid three together is virtually impossible not great for families or people who want to sit together. The trouble is without blocking out blocks of seats and moving more people invariably season ticket holders to accommodate this it’s going to be difficult. Heck of course was so infatuated with his Hospitality/GA+ offerings he seems to forget about the 25-30k of us who were worried about how things were progressing for us and the 5-10k members who were constantly scrabbling for tickets.

We also can't underestimate just how much it cost to try to go to all of the games last season.  With the extortionate Champions League tickets and a run to the FA Cup semi-final a lot of us had to pick and choose in a way we hadn't before.

And it's not just the cost, the time commitment to follow us home and away over the last two seasons has been off the Scale.

I think I may have asked this before, but is it known how many members there currently are? I know I'm one, and have been for a few years now, but I would have no interest in having a season ticket, and suspect this may well be the case for the large majority of current members.

Good point Pat, I sometimes forget that being in a position to afford all of this from a cost perspective doesn’t mean everyone is. The perils of following a succesfulish football club.

At least 18245 but I wonder if membership dates has a knock-on to the the locations people are as every member who didn't go to a game last season would have 100 points.

43000 for Villa v Harrogate in the League Cup round 3.

Am i wrong in thinking that the rise in prominence of membership is the first signs that the club are looking to move away from STs in the not-too-distant future? If not completely, I can see a day when they'll actively manage down ST numbers for the higher matchday spend generated by members.

I'd definitely go to that.

But they won't make it to Round 3.

I told the kids at the start of last season that we’d go to all the CL games but couldn’t afford the league as well. We ended up going to a few league and domestic cup games but not as many as usual.
