The truth is it seems like it doesn't matter where you are on this list this season (outside those who actually get a ticket) as it will be reshuffled again next season.  So being 2,000 now will be pretty meaningless unless you go to every game next season.

Surely membership will be the biggest factor?
Without it you have no chance.

With it, now that people know the criteria, you're still going to have to go to every game to get in the top 500-1,000.

My lad is at 5324
I'm at 4748
One Bayern game at home makes me the leader in our house.......so i'm a better Villa fan than him ha.
If i was offered a season ticket i don't think i would take it.

I'm thinking the same, if I took the ST, but my lad can't get one at the same time, where would I pick the seat and could I swap it game to game to sit with him, he's only 7 so couldn't be on his own

So now there will be more members, and matchday tickets will be harder to come by..

I'm. 1900 and odd and my son. 3700 odd because I went to some evening games that I couldn't justify a 1am finish for him going to school... He was one place above me before..

I have dropped from 9200 to 19456, all because i am not a member. If it was a level playing field and I had known 100 points rested on it, I would have parted with the money.
I am fortunate that I have a mate with season tickets who spends half of the year in NZ and have first dibs, even if i "am him" for some games, but this feels like changing the rules in a despicable and devious way. My dream of getting my own seat when the North Stand is expanded are dashed. I will have to carry on bending the rules until they introduce face recognition to get in! Pissed off!
I think this is probably the worst part.  Hypotheticaly, a non member who had attended every single home game for 2 seasons would be behind a member who hasn't attended a single game.  When it was never stated that being a member was a condition of being on the waiting list, which it now effectively is.

This is a difficult one, as I agree that membership was never part of the criteria before so it has enabled some people to jump the queue ahead of others who have been to less games.  In our case though, we have pretty much had to use the membership system as a de facto ST for the last 4 seasons.  Up until this last season (ironically given this was the CL year, which I would term the Chris Heck effect) it would have been nigh on impossible for us to get tickets together as a family for most games without the memberships.  If you just want single tickets each time then I can see why a membership was not worth the money, but if you want to go with friends/family they have been pretty much essential for years.

It's not a waiting list now is it........it's a competition where by basically, who ever spends the most money wins.
I will happily now be a part-time supporter as long as i'm sitting next to my kids at the games......non league sides will get some of my cash next season.......at 3pm

How do you do it otherwise?  It's always been the case when selling tickets to give priority to previous attendance, so by definition ticket allocation has always been based on who spends the most money because they're the people who have bought tickets and gone to games.

There is a problem at Villa on the consistency of rules (FA Cup semi-final being a particularly bad example where people who had been to 3 games potentially jumped ahead of those who had been to 15+), but in principle they have done the right thing.  If it were me, and thankfully it's not, I would have reduced the number of points awarded for a membership by a factor of 10 so it didn't penalise regular attendees without memberships so heavily, but I think it is right that those who have consistently gone to matches in the last two years are ahead of people who just put their names down on a list 5 years ago.

Do we think that your points will go up and down over a rolling 2 year period or do we think they have drawn a line in the sand from 2 years ago and any points earned will carry on moving forward??

I'm giving up my ST but was going to go straight on the waiting list in case my/the club's circumstances change in future and I want one again by the time I get to the top.
So I wonder whether I get any member/game attendance points for the time I had a ST?

Good question......Villa should have an answer ready for that

Why would someone purchase a membership and then not attend a game in last 2 season ? Waste of the membership fee. I am fully in agreement with removing people on the list that haven't attended a game in last 2 seasons. The only exception might be parents putting kids on the list that are not yet old enough to attend games. Having, along with my 2 adult sons and living 100 miles away, attended approximately 36 of the 76 PL and Cup games over the last 2 seasons, I don't feel any advantage by being given 100 points for our Claret Memberships. What do people think the club should have done to filter the list so as to reward people who've actually attended games ? I've gone from 11989 to 855 on the list.

Oh FFS, it was just an extreme example to make the point.

Of course you've been given an advantage over non members who may have, hypothetically, attended a similar number of games as you.  You've been given 100 league games worth of advantage.  Without any prior notification that membership was now a pre-condition of being on the waiting list.

And to answer your question, I don't think they should have done anything.  But if they were going to, then there should have been a season's notice and it should have been calculated without the membership points.

And if 850 doesn't make the cut this year, let's see how you feel next season when you are overtaken by people who now know the criteria and are gunning for a ST.  And no complaining that you live too far away to attend womens games and you've been on the list for 5 years etc etc

I've gone from well over 8000 to just over 3000 as a Memeber and matches attended, so once the North Stand is sorted, I should get a ST...in theory.
