Perhaps if we didn't keep saying it's going to go wrong, it might not so often.

I'm still not sure what I'm doing to influence results.

Negative beliefs transmit themselves through everyday behaviour, this translates on match days and when there's a negative and nervous vibe it transmits to the players.

We've been like it for a long time.

Or conversely, it’s Friday night in the sun and everyone, players and fans, are really up for the last home game of the season against a Spurs team who, despite what their manager says, will inevitably have half an eye on their final next week.

Sounds like he's taking it very seriously if he's already planning half-time substitutions. Some people might see that as a pre-season tactic, but Ange is playing 4D Buckaroo again.
I watched his PC.
Hmmmmm, it’s not what he said, it’s how he said it and bloody hell, he was not convincing in any way, shape or form.

Exactly. Wish I could be there.

I mean, you look at Man City, Cityitis, all that, but what got them over the line wasn't a change in the fan mentality was it? It was spending unholy amounts of unholy money to employ talented people to put together a winning team. Obviously the fans make some difference, but being nervous and lacking confidence because I've basically never seen the Villa win anything doesn't have to translate to a hostile atmosphere (I've never booed the team in my life).

I've tended to be drunker at away matches than home ones, meaning I'm more confident in matches that we are statistically much more likely to lose. Theory doesn't work.

Their atmosphere is renowned and definitely pushes them over the line regularly. You can hear the roar from the empty seats.

Really looking forward to being there on friday.  Can't often get or, indeed, afford tickets these days but one of my mates has dropped out due to the date change and there's a free spot in the motor from Shrewsbury.  Hopefully it'll be a stunning night with a few cheeky sherberts round and about before and after.  4-1 or some such would please me mightily, especially if Utd can fluke something against Chelsea.

Massive game tomorrow night. Qualifying for the Champions' League is more important than the FA cup semi-final for the club in terms of the short and medium term future. The money generated, if we qualify, will help to keep the PSR wolf from the door and make the club a more attractive proposition for top-quality players which in turn will improve our prospects of success and silverware. It might not happen anyway, but 3 points tomorrow night won't do us any harm. The thought of hoping Man Ure win tomorrow runs contrary to all my principles but needs must. Come on, Villa!!

I wonder how much the mentality of playing the artist formerly known as Man Utd has got them through to the final of the Europa against euro sides who haven’t realised they are utterly shite. Bit like when we play them and STILL shit the bed.  Spurs and Man Utd are crap.  If we can’t get 6 points it’s going to be a mentality thing.

Even taking in our propensity to mess up and the fact that football can do silly things like last weeks result at Southampton

Even after all that I can’t think of any games that are more forgone conclusion wins for both home teams than the two playing tomorrow night

Yes, if there’s one thing that’s almost as important as having a better team and manager than them, it’s the atmosphere, and it’s going to be brilliant tomorrow night. I’m against the inconvenience it’s caused, but changing the game to Friday night from Sunday afternoon is good for us I reckon. Sunday night might have been even better though.

Based on his comments today the key players may well be rested.

Can’t wait for tonight, never ever over confident, but feck me this is the game we’d want. Spurs always feels like a big game stemming from childhood, warm sunny evening, no work tomorrow, something massive to play for, last home game, our home form is the best its ever been, their first team nevermind their second team is in relegation form in a normal season when the bottom three weren’t so bad.

It could all go wrong, but it won’t, even with our own injuries and suspensions, we are the form team in the league and much much better than them.

Bring it the fuck on.

Absolutely. Everything I do today, the already completed drive to work, being at work, the drive home, whatever awaits at home, dinner, it's all just marking time up to kick off.

Just over 12½ hours and counting
