Hopefully Mings is a bit more interested when the season starts. No passengers this season.

I am surprised that Greenwood has not been signed by a premier league team he stood out as their best player , excellent finish for his goal - Digne struggled to cope with him

You’re surprised? Did it not occur to you why ManU got rid of him?

They got rid of him reluctantly, it was only the back lash from the woman’s team that forced them, which is why it’s strange the Arsenal woman’s team (who are more established) didn’t kick up a fuss about Partey at the time.

I bet this new lot at Utd would have found a way to keep Greenwood on.

I'm not sure that being an irritating footballer is on the same level as what Greenwood definitely did.

My recollection of the involvement of the women's team re Greenwood was that the twats in charge of the club put them in a ridiculous position by publicly asking them about it, as if only women should be concerned about rape and sexual assault. Your post has the whiff of this too.

For what it's worth in terms of distinguishing the Partey case, there was always enough obfuscation and doubt that Arsenal could do what they did, whereas with Greenwood the audio was out there for all to hear.

Yep, I think that's right, there was just enough 'innocent until proven guilty' going in his favour, especially with the Mendy case still so recent.

Villarreal on the other hand have signed Partey after he's been charged and is on bail for rape.

I noticed for Marseille's late winning goals, Aubameyang was free to slot home on each occasion with the nearest defender ball-watching. Can someone who understands defending/coaching better than me explain the "reason/blame" for these goals?

Is it
a) The superior movement of a top-class striker (and when it comes to movement, arguably Aubameyang still is)?
b) The "dumbness" of a defender being attracted to the ball and leaving his opponent free?
or
c) The assist being so good that the defender has to make a call and be pro-active in advancing towards the ball to try and clear it, but in doing so, takes the risk of not reaching the ball and the unoccupied striker gets a free shot?

The first and last are fair enough, if it's the middle one, there's no real excuse for it when defenders train with these drills every week.

It wasn’t my intention to suggest only women should be worried about sexual assault, both clubs moral compasses seem to be out, in that it’s all about protecting their assets until even they can’t justify it.

I’m just surprised Arsenal haven’t received more criticism about their handling of the Partey case.

Their 2nd goal was a sweeping move done at pace, which caught out a number of our players, and it was a great cross to find Aubamayang.

The 3rd goal was down to Greenwood rinsing Digne, and there was an element of luck that the cross found its target.

I’m not a massive one for finding blame with someone for every goal, I think both goals reflected how passive we were in general in the 2nd half

I also think it’s possible the simple explanation is that they were just fatigued. They’ve been doing a lot of fitness work pre season, and this was the first game they’ve (a lot of them) been asked to play more than 45 min - and in a high intensity game.
