Iling Jnr looks more effective than Bailey

We won 2-1. Played as a friendly. Nothing overly strenuous. We had many other gears. My only concern is we still look sloppy at the back and in midfield. Will need to cut that out and get sharp for the start of the season.

2nd half was pretty disjointed. Our international players playing within themselves and/or less far along in their preseason conditioning.

We didn’t have an outlet second half playing more of a 442 with Iling Jnr and Patterson (?) unable to create or supply much to Watkins and Jimoh-Aloba. I think those 3 will find themselves out of loan.

Bouba was foiled for their goal and I know it is only preseason but I get concerned at the way we are trying to play out of defence at times.
Apart from that another useful run out. Love the games at this time of the day.

Just found some highlights. Bizot did a great double save and seemed to be comfortable sweeping up balls over the top. Not sure if their best attacking options came on in the second half but they seemed to get some good chances when we had our normally first choice central midfield and best defender on.

Don't think it was a foul on Kamara as he did a drag back and then turned back into the player instead of playing a simple ball out to Cash. Just a silly mistake but we do seem to make a lot of them defensively wise.
Bizot looks a very capable keeper with good awareness of attacking opportunities.

You're probably right but they could also hang about and be used in the Europa League team. One advantage of EL over CL is that we should be able to rotate more and play a strong, fresh team in the league.

Not for the first time this pre season Konsa being very carelessly caught in possession leading to a chance for the opponent.

Konsa has a habit of looking for a foul instead of moving the ball forward into an attacking position and opponents are getting used to this and getting the ball back. In the recent Club cup the referees were allowing players in possession of the ball to be harassed and often have the ball taken off them whilst the ref waved play on. I wonder if this is a directive from above and maybe will be used by refs over here this season.
