This is Hansa Rostock's fifth pre-season game.

They're fitter and much more together as a team than we've been.
That’s fine but when are our first XI going to be at their 4/5 pre season game? So far in two games we have played mostly junior players. What’s the point?

Well, we’ve got another 6 to go.

Well I’m guessing it’s because a good chunk were on international duty/injured, so not rushing them back in.

Training began on 7th July for some of the squad. McGinn, Rogers and Martinez only got back last Monday. I for one wouldn't be happy to see first teamers thrown into friendlies before they're properly fit, and then sustaining soft tissue injuries which buggers up the start of our league season.

There’s nothing to be concerned about. It’s a load of our kids trying to make a case for themselves. Not many have stood out. Good minutes for the seniors in the first half.
I’m a little concerned at how poor our kids are. I know it’s all meaningless but I wont be watching anymore of these half arsed performances as they wind me up too much.
I turned off after it went to 1-1, nothing more to it than I was bored shitless. Again, nothing against any of the kids playing, Im just really weirdly struggling to get motivated for this season. Normally by now, Im chomping at the bit for the season to start, but can’t shake the can’t be arsed feeling.
Not sure if its a lack of signings, or the fact football in general hasnt really stopped/overkill.
Got a month to get myself psyched up!

What this is proving thus far is that none of our kids are going to push the existing first team squad for their jobs. One or two had moments but they all look way off. And that’s against lower division opponents in both games.

Probably true - but remember it’s entirely different playing as a young player with a load of other young players than if you’re playing with 9 or 10 first team regulars.

I'm the same more or less. The only pre season game I go to is at the Yeltz every year and that's an annual outing with mates on the lash. With all the other sport on I'm not ready yet to start getting wound up, I'm enjoying the carefree feeling. It will be different on the 16th though.

I get why we have chosen to travel to the US for pre-season games, it's the money and the publicity. All the other travelling  for the sort of games we're playing, with the line-ups we're putting out, I simply don't see the benefits.

Having seen precisely zero of either of these first two training games, any views on any of the youth players who have stood out? There’s space for someone to step up and be part of the Europa League squad.

They were also second best to the might Crewe today.

Hemmings, both games.
