It’s actually English English though. Short for Association. Equivalent to rugger.
Apparently coined by by Charles Wreford-Brown.

Sure, originally. I think it's probably morphed into American English now, maybe Aussie English and maybe a few more examples too.

There's no such thing as American English. There's the King's English and there's wrong.

What about when we have had Kings that couldn't speak English ?

Isn't St Louis where Olof Mellberg is?

As suspected, managing the carbon footprint is no longer an issue.

Is anyone thinking about going to the Rostock game?

I quite fancy it, because I am learning German and I enjoy freezing and letting the conversation revert to English mere seconds in.

It seems to be about two hours from Hamburg on the ICE, but I wondered if anyone knew of any other routes?

I’ll try and get to Rostock.  I’ll have my Welcome to Villa Aaron banner.

My other half, who is better than me in every regard, has just told me it's also just two hours from Berlin.  ::)

Which makes things considerably easier.

I'll be going too.  I'm not sure if I'm going via Hamburg or Berlin yet.  I'm waiting for the other games to be announced to see if there's a chance of stringing more than one into the same trip.

Ditto with the language thing except mine is Czech.  In the bubbles of Prague and Brno people often get annoyed if I try to speak to them in (my admittedly awful) Czech as they think I'm assuming they can't speak English.  Outside of those bubbles it's very different.

TIL that Rostock receives the highest number of cruise tourists in Germany every year. It does look quite nice.

I think I will stay in Berlin as I know my way about near a hotel I like.

Yeah, I have every respect for people who speak other languages. I pick things up to read pretty quickly, but it’s really hard to practice speaking properly.

3½ hours by train according to DB's website and my rudimentary German. 3¼ hour drive. I've done the drive a couple of times.

Despite my partner's sister spitefully planning her wedding to get in the way of my trip, I have received the all clear to book.

It is 1hr 55m on the ICE from Berlin, so that's good.

As suspected, managing the carbon footprint is no longer an issue.

They'll offset it with Ross Barkley and Leon Bailey planting elm trees on the grounds of Aston Hall as their last act as Villa players.
