More respectful than the chants from the Villa fans in the last 10 minutes (seen the Villa, now fuck off home; 3-0 on your big day out; you've only come to see the Villa). Cringe.

Could hear them clearly on the TV. Embarrassing stuff.
I agree. And the "ole's" ringing round were Man U (under whiskey nose) levels of arrogance. Please cut it out lads and lasses. Our fanbase should remember just why we hated them so much when they came to Villa Park and sang "we're man yanited we'll do what we want"

...I've really grown to like Liew's writing, such as this cracking piece on us post Bayern.

Yeah, I mean that's just a glorious bit of writing.

It's the standard away repertoire when we are winning, I'm more pissed off about hearing us sing about them down the road in our moments of triumph, it just feeds their complex that were are obsessed by them!

"Rogers was pretty much unplayable, a spinning machete of a player flying into clouds of Bayern shirts and somehow emerging with the ball at his feet"

What a wonderful sentence.

Maybe Liews piece seem condescending to some Preston fabs, I thought it was well intended, fairly accurate and as someone has already said nostalgic.

As for villa fans being cringe, maybe, but that seen the villa now f**k off home is sung at most home games that we win against any team, good or bad, its just what it is.

First away game Ive managed to get tickets too for me and my son this season and a jolly old day out it was too. Coachload of us stopped off at Chorley FC, who put on a fanzone for Villa fans only, really good and fair play to them.
The game itself ended up being a bit anti-climactic really as Preston never really laid a glove on us. But all to them good, Palace will be tough, but so would Forest or Man City have been. Dont want to tempt fate but I cant see Palace beating us three times in a season.

Kamara and Ramsey were our best players. Digne was poor, by his standards. Ollie needs a re-set.
Yeah, Digne was very poor, only  2  assists?

First half his daft pass inside almost set them up for a chance and a penalty shout, plus a card for Tielemans if the ref had called it on-field. The freekick well over and a few other mistimed passes or lost challenges. As with the rest of the team, he improved second half but no denying he was poor, by his standards in that first half.

Palace have only beaten us once this season and we should have beaten them at Villa Park.

Totally agree - no idea why our fan base wants to be dragged down to their gutter level.

I imagine Liew knew exactly what sort of reaction the piece would elicit and was perfectly happy for it to be a mixture of blustering outrage and nodding assent.

He's a journalist writing an opinion piece, it's his job. I think he does it very well.

Palace have only beaten us once this season and we should have beaten them at Villa Park.

Twice, League Cup as well.

But the the old adage was you don't beat a team three times in the same season so we should be sound.

We had to pay the price for the outrageous comeback at VP last season, the Duran volley and all that, with a couple of defeats.

Think we're all paid up now.

They struggled against our backup team at the time in the LC, but came out victors, they also had a field day against whatever nth version of our defence that was. Now they will hopefully be up against our strongest defence choice and a whole host of different attack options who are now bedded in.
