More respectful than the chants from the Villa fans in the last 10 minutes (seen the Villa, now fuck off home; 3-0 on your big day out; you've only come to see the Villa). Cringe.

Could hear them clearly on the TV. Embarrassing stuff.
I agree. And the "ole's" ringing round were Man U (under whiskey nose) levels of arrogance. Please cut it out lads and lasses. Our fanbase should remember just why we hated them so much when they came to Villa Park and sang "we're man yanited we'll do what we want"
singing about small heath too. really.
Totally agree - no idea why our fan base wants to be dragged down to their gutter level.

Especially persisting with ...'get battered everywhere they go'...  when it's now patently obvious that everywhere doesn't appear to include in League One.

It's an inane chant to be added to the many inane chants that some supporters feel it necessary to bleat out. Why they need to do so when we've secured a place in the semi final of the most important domestic cup competition I'll never know.

...I've really grown to like Liew's writing, such as this cracking piece on us post Bayern.

Yeah, I mean that's just a glorious bit of writing.
I somehow missed that piece when it came out. Thanks for sharing, it's a great piece of writing.

Fairly routine win? Now onto the next big match!

I missed it too, so thanks. Great piece of writing.

I enjoy Liew when he’s on their pod and Back Pages Tonight on Sky.

Yeah and I quite like that he puts forward challenging arguments a lot. He was very much at odds with the media love in with the early days of Ange at Spurs.

Great to be able to get an away ticket and to visit a "proper club".  I was looking forward to not having to put up with the idiot who sits behind me in the North Stand .....only to find his soul mate had turned up at Deepdale, constantly criticising our players, especially Digne ("dreadful") and Ramsey ("shocking first touch"). Mind you he didn't comment when they played such a big part in the second half turnaround.
Why go to the game if all you are going to do is moan?

Meanwhile, plenty of comments earlier about "respect", so fair play to the PNE announcer who wished us well at Wembley. Class

Don't really see the issue with that article. Or see much of a "condescending tone".

Quote
...it is possible to see Preston as a kind of bellwether club: a study in existence and endurance as its own reward, in a sport more turbulently unequal than ever. Preston will not provide an American hedge fund with an inflation-busting return on investment. They will not generate Hollywood content or Wembley showpieces. They are neither good nor bad. But they provide thousands of people with a ritual and routine. It’s cheap, it’s hearty, it’s local and it’s real. Will the market allow something this radical to survive?

Surely that's (a) correct and (b) quite nice?

I just think people must have not read all of the article, it's the only thing I can think of.

"Shit on the City" makes me wince. Birmingham is already the butt of jokes when derogatory/piss-taking of English cities occurs.

To add insult, you've got thousands of Villa fans glorifying in "shitting" on Brum even if it's Blose FC we're referring to. Couldn't we at least change it to "Shitting on St Andrews as we go" ?

It's absolutely obvious who it's about though. You'll be wanting to change the name of the FFP thread next.

Which will have to change to "Shitting on the 60,000 capacity Wembley of the Midlands derelict go kart track as we go"

A lot of the villa supporter coaches (including the one I was on) had to get a police escort away from Preston, as quite a few coaches had their windows smashed in by Preston fans. So they obviously didn’t listen to the Villa instructions to feck off home anyway

That does surprise me. They all seemed a friendly bunch to me but I guess they have their share of idiots too.
