You could argue a shirt that echoed the time when we were the greatest club in world would have been an alternative choice - more iconic and in our colours. But I do like the black shirt.

Sold out on JD Sports now too.

I was told they won't get more stock until April.

It’ll be a limited run I’d expect
Yeah, I'd be surprised if we made any more other than the initial run.

Commercially it's probably not a bad thing for the club to have this aura of the limited edition stuff being buy-on-sight.

But with so many people missing out surely it makes more sense not to be a limited run. If we want to generate Money so that we can compete on the PSR level limiting sales isint going to help.
You don't make as much money on this one, no.

But what about the next, and the next, and the next?  Before he came here, there was a video of Heck saying that they'd tried to turn that Philadelphia team who's name I've forgotten in to a fashion/lifestyle brand as much as a basketball club.  It'll be a similar thing - you have some kind of air of exclusivity around the club tat, then it's going to end up being seen as more valuable and so folk are (a) going to pay more for it and (b) be more likely to impulse buy / buy on sight if they feel they'll miss out if they don't get whatever it is there & then.

I'd suspect the club probably isn't to going make more black 150th anniversary shirts for 4 months time, when the shirt is old hat as it's been used for the one single game it'll get an airing for.  They'll be much more likely, I'd have thought, to come up with some other event that requires a commemorative shirt, since you can sell that to the exact same mugs* who've forked out £80 for the black shirt AND the folk who have missed out this time.

* I'm one of those mugs, but I'd hoped for a kit similar to this at the start of the season - black shirt, big fuck off red lion, no sponsor - and figure it's the only Villa shirt I've bought since the Acorns one due to my general antipathy for gambling sponsors so I can justify it this time

Aston Villa, 1878/2025 season.
I can't have been the only one wondering what *that* photo would have looked like with the current squad. Especially knowing how Meatball would have played it.

Ha ha, yes Emi would have to be the 'manspreader' on the far right of the picture, no doubt.

Will the women be wearing it against Bristol Rovers on Sunday? If so, is there a black shorts version?

If we win on Friday - would they keep it for as long as we are in the cup.

Imagine winning the cup in the 150th year  ;)

I have bought it because I feel like it's a shirt I can wear for years rather than one that will be out of date next season and therefore better value for £80 than usual team shirts. Also like there being no sponsor, & it's easy transference into casual wear.

151st

If we were really finicky about it, anything up to September (?) 1875 would be our first year, wouldn’t it? So anything up to September 2025 would be 150th?

I'm not bothered about the black kit, but it does irk me that were doing it in a match against another team that play in our colours.

We may have asked West Ham to wear a change strip, I don't know. If I was them I'd agree and then turn up with our home kit only.
Their website says that they are wearing their 3rd kit, i.e. white shirts with claret collar. Their away kit is all black.

Well I don’t really think it matters, but our first year surely would have lasted a year, therefore, so will our 150th.

Boring subject though really.
