To be fair, in the 1873/74 FA Cup, six teams didn't even bother their arses turning up for matches, so maybe not that much has changed after all. 🙂
I really think I should be going to this but there's so many things putting me off.
I can think of another reason this is a bad idea. We'll probably field a 'weakened' side, go on to lose, and then it'll be endless "Why the fuck did Heck choose this match, he should have known it had potential for being a limp cop-out nothing line-up"And the people saying that would be right. This is a really stupid decision - you've basically got the whole fucking season to choose a match, and if it is supposed to mean something, why go for something weird like this? Let alone risky in terms of how it will look if it goes badly.
The Centenary game was a friendly. This is a step up from that at least.
I think they will take the game seriously based on the anniversary celebrations

Take all the generations of history and meaning, all the lives of players, staff, supporters that have been wrapped up with the club and box it up to try and get 30k fans for a cup game against West Ham. History as an advert, sums him and his philosophy up really.
