The first game I ever saw at Villa Park was against Cardiff city top of the table class old second division 1959/60;we won 2:1.  I hope we repeat the feat and move into rd6

we won the game at ninian park that season  1 nil in front of over 54,000 fans .think that has been our 2'nd highest attendance ever

Anwar El Ghazi's happy about it.

He's a good lad, Anwar.
What a penalty taker!
And a play off hero!
Welcome back anytime.
I think under Emery he would do well
He’s better level than Cardiff and I’m surprised no lower half prem team took him on.
Should at least play top end championship

Willie Anderson. Over 200 games for us, over 100 games for Cardiff.
He turned 78 a couple of weeks ago.

Also add Trevor Ford and Barrie Hole.

Do you like Cal Chambers ? I don’t like his play and neither did Emery he was a Gerrard signing but wasn’t up to Emerys demands

Oh wow
I think he deserves an invitation to the match if he can.
Certainly be featured in the programme .
Prince of Wales of course likely to attend this match too.

footy vil . he hadn't played for over a year before joining us . He hasn't been match fit for 3 months so no prem club would have taken him on the start of the season . Just about getting match fitness now . on the flip side Chambers have been superb for us the last 10 games

El Ghazi what a penalty taker !
And of course a play off hero!

One for those even older than me - the Gerry Hitchens derby.
Same as above (Leighton Phillips) .
But I remember seeing Leighton Phillios play - Hitchens was well before my time.
Yes you might but many won't remember Leighton . Great centre half a ball player not physical , like Torres in some ways .

So who else apart form El Ghazi , Robinson, This Gerry Hitchens  and Leighton (and the awful chambers) played for Villa and Cardiff?
The centre back James Collins perhaps ?
Stick Dean Saunders down

Thank you for your reply. I think have to be fair Chambers played in 7-0 in middle and that was a week ago so can’t have been superb for 10 games
Chambers is a championship player with greatest respect maybe he was good in other games but against Leeds you lost 7-0 so I can’t agree with your assessment

Well that's him told.  Thanks for making the visitors feel at home.  I don't agree with close to 100% of what you post but, by and large, have the decency to just let it slide.

I have a lot of time for Chambers, he seems a decent pro and a good bloke.  He did a job when we needed him but took a path that might well prolong his career.  Enjoy him bud.
One of the lads on the pool team is a Swansea fan and has already started...

What’s the Manchester ‘Foxes’ reference about?
