Only free agents can sign.  Meaning Carlton palmer could come in.

We’re not sneaking anyone in it sounds like - I find it odd that a few seem to think it’s all fairly sensible decision making. It’s also putting a hell of a lot of pressure on Mings.
unless Unai (or the others) think Kamara at CB and Bogarde in DM is the answer

I sincerely hope not, Kamara is adequate at best playing there.

Just as we're discussing it in another thread, I'm fairly sure we can only add 3 to our A squad for CL. Signing a new CB would have meant either leaving him out of the CL, or including him and having to leave one of the 3 attacking players out.

We may have been looking at having to spend a lot of money on a CB that wasn't on our list of wanted players, and then either not being able to play him in several games, or, having spent money on an attacking player we did want, and then having to leave them out of the CL squad.

It’s better set up to do it other way around. Bogarde at CB and Kamara in midfield. Why weaken two areas?

Beginning of the unraveling of the Monchi era for me this.  Bit dramatic but then I’m Ill and we have a squad as balanced as a broken trampoline.

Kamara is not a CB
We knew Carlos was not good enough at end of last season.
If we do not get a CB  in , sorry it all seems like a deadly window.

Just catching up on the day. So we are likely to go into the last 16 champions league ties, our biggest games for many years, with one centre half finding his way back from 15 months out and struggling with two games per week, one with a metatarsal injury that are notoriously difficult to treat and accurately predict a return to full fitness, and one out of form and in need of some time out. Great.

We're a CB light because we sold one, prior to that I wasn't too fussed, but even more so with the current injuries.

We've also then strangely chosen to loan out the main centre-back who has come through the youth setup.

I keep forgetting this, even stranger. I know he needs minutes but we're up shit creek a bit, and he can take a CL spot.

I assume that's it finished with trying to sign Felix? He's turned us down 3 times I think now? He hasn't cut it in the Premier League at Chelsea. He looks too lightweight to me so good that he's going to Milan.
I don’t think he’s had much say in where he ends up in the last 2 transfer windows by all accounts. He’s agent in Jorge Mendes and sounds like he’s being used as a pawn to the benefit of himself and his client. Also, it appears to be widely reported that Chelsea see us a threat to CL qualification and don’t want to deal with us, so nothing to do with Felix himself at least on the surface.

I poo pooed the idea of Sergio Ramos earlier in the thread…maybe I was too hasty!

As you all know, never ignore a poo poo.
