All this talk of us not signing a centre back reminds me of my old nan. She loved Villa centre backs. She had 'Alpay' tattooed on her face. This isn't just an act of gross violence on the transfer window, it's the immolation of all the values my grandmother stood for. She believed in the transfer window; she believed in centre backs.

I don't know whether she's down there, looking up at all this going on and sobbing. I hope not, because this is a day of shame.

Sorry, but relying on 3 centre halves for the remainder of the season - two of which who are currently injured, one of whom recently back from a very serious injury, is just crazy. It is negligent.

Pau Torres broke his metatarsal on 30th December, which left us with 3 recognised centre backs.  We then proceded to sell one of those and one of the others got injured in the very next game.  That has left us having to play 2.5 important games (one extremely important one that could have had serious implications if we had lost) with a makeshift CB pairing.

Negligence may be a little too far, but it's hardly been great squad management has it?

We will play reserve set up in the Cup and have one premier league game in the next 19 days.

Mings will be back, Torres likely soon after. Digne, Kamara and Bogarde can all do a job, probably equally as well as any available CB

You've just watched the blind panic with Kamara out of midfield and Digne at centre half?

Indeed, all well and good playing Kamara or Digne there but they’re needed in their proper positions. No sign of Torres coming back and Mings being required to play every game is not ideal. Throw in the fact that many are commenting on Konsa’s lack of form and the lack of a centre half signing can be put down as a massive fuck up imo.

Negligent-failing to take proper care.

Seems a perfectly apt description.

Digne evidently can’t do a job - but even if he can the defensive side on the left is weakened. Kamara struggled massively at the weekend, but even if he was ok him playing there significantly weakens the midfield. Bogarde looks ok in centre mid, but there’s nothing to say he could adequately fill in.

It is a suicidal approach to managing the second half of the season.

Ideally, we wanted a player who could be both a right-sided centre-half and right-back. That's what we missed on in the Summer and it's still haunting us now.

I was due to donate a couple of lungs to a little girl this afternoon. I've called it off. I don't want her surviving in a world where Villa only have three centre backs. It sickens me to think what Monchi's done to that once-great little girl.

We've missed out on 3 now. 1 on the summer and 2 in this window. Not ideal.

Gross negligence on his part.

No doubt I will now be revisiting my nightmares about Cash playing RB in the Champions League.

Brighton getting Tommy Watson , liked the look of him and would have loved another Tommy at Villa.

Romano saying Sunderland have turned them down

It's definitely negligent , it's also very strange given we have funds. It's a massive oversight and will cost us winning anything and probably missing out on the champions league next season. Bizarre strategy.

It’s credit to Kamara that he did well at centre half against Celtic, but tbh they’re pretty crap and unfortunately we don’t play those standard of teams every week. Given the fact he’s our best midfielder and we have injuries to Barkley and the made of glass Onana as well compounds the issue.
