Wherever Rashford moves next I’d imagine what he wants/needs most is a good environment, a great coach and a club who don’t hang him out to dry in front of the media at every opportunity. That might end up being us, it might not but there’s a good player there somewhere and his next move is probably his last chance to prove it at this level.

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, but I feel like he got a lot of criticism when he was just feeding kids,   even from his own team's fans? A lot of people were just waiting for him to fall off so they could say told you so. Obviously he hasn't helped himself by partying and flying off when he shouldn't and what not, but I can't imagine what it would be like to attract that much criticism and vitriol for just doing some good. You can say the criticism of him now us warranted but you know a lot of it is coming from people who just hate him for no good reason.

It started around that time, I think you are right. The media scrutiny seemed to go up a notch and because he’d got credit for a great initiative it was a tabloid vendetta to bring him down, as they do.

Most recently, having your coach tell the world he’d rather play the goalkeeping coach than you isn’t particularly helpful either.

Romano says the deal is close on Rashford and we are covering his salary. Nightmare!

I've had worse nightmares.

Lazy, doesn’t track back, disruptive in the dressing room, can’t be bothered with training, doesn’t fit our system, selfish, pushes Ramsey to the bench, very very expensive.

Disruptive in the dressing room is relative though, isn't it. By all accounts there's a pretty toxic environment at Man Utd and its been there for years. There was also, apparently, a split in the dressing room, with some players backing Ten Hag, and some wanting him sacked. There was a split around Sancho too, and possibly even Greenwood? Was Rashford the cause of all that, was he loudly advocating for one side or the other, was he just fed up of the whole thing and completely disillusioned with his job and colleagues?

Obviously he could be a massive twat and we're marching head first into failure with him. I don't know. I just take anything about that club and its players with a massive pinch of salt.

He did a good thing and it was good for his brand image. Hot takes there from the marketing gurus.

The fact he absolutely skewered an appalling Tory Government makes him alright by me.

If Emery can dig out the Rashford from Ten Haag’s first season I think, around 22 he’d be an excellent signing.

I remember Lingard ( a player I detest ) leaving Utd to go to West Ham on loan and was fucking brilliant. If Rashford can mimic any of that, it could be a good move for the remaining 4 months.

It may be worth it just for taking penalties. Rashford has lots of issues to sort, but on form he is a great finisher. Could be an interesting few months for us.

Worth remembering that if we're looking at loans it's a) inexperienced kids who need game time, and we're past the point of being a club who can provide that. b) experienced players who are 30+ and can't get in their own team, but can still do a job, or c) "troubled" players who need a bit of rehabilitation and are a risk but the potential payoff is massive.

You'd assume that option c is potentially less risk than actually paying the asking price for some of our preferred targets with January inflation added on.

It's nice that he helps the kiddies and that Ty is also a great role model but we're far beyond the looking glass now when it comes to footballers, morals and money.

I don't care if it takes a team of good fellas or Duráns, I just want us to win some fucking trophies.

Taking a ‘gamble’ on Marcus Rashford vs some of the absolute tripe we have signed before, and some are incredibly wound up by it.
I’m not sure I get the reason to be quite so vexed ?

I think it's because he fed those kids that time.

Blackly.

(I actually don't think he'd be a good signing at all, but he does seem a lovely fella.)

There's a clip on YouTube of one of his management team doing a Q&A at a marketing conference a couple of years ago. In it, he explains how Marcus's concern for the kids was a great PR move that added millions to the value of brand 'Rashford'.

That was a devastatingly insightful comms observation from the guy: people who do good things are looked upon favourably. Stunning.

That's why they get paid the big bucks.
