I'd take Rashford on loan with them paying a sizeable chunk of his wages. That would be fairly low risk. If we get the Rashford of a couple of years ago, great. If we get the more recent version, he fucks off back in the summer.

Man U are claimed to be willing to pay half his wages to any club mad enough to take him off their hands but even then it would still be £150 a week.

Their problem. Let them suffer.
Honestly, I quite like Rashford but I think £300k/week off Manchester United’s budget and a player spreading discontent in their dressing room is worth more to us than paying £150k/week for a player who’s just “alright” and might not be the best for Ollie’s confidence
Definitely a no, just based on his attitude at his own boyhood club

Jacob Tanswell of the Atheltic who covers Villa: This end-of-transfer window read is going to be crazy... (and long)

https://x.com/j_tanswell/status/1885369778031792425?s=46

Can't read it.
There's nothing to read. It's the sentence Toronto wrote.

Yes. I post the link to show where I got it from.

I don’t think I understand what he’s saying. What read? What’s going to be long?

What I was trying to say was the link is to Jacobs X account that says "This end-of-transfer window read is going to be crazy... (and long)"....meaning it's going to be a busy one until the end, for Villa and for him.

Rashford would take Ramsey's spot in the team so it's a 'fuck no', from me.

🚨🇫🇷 Mathys Tel and his agent are in Munich together to assess all options after rejecting Spurs proposal.

Tottenham will explore other targets while Tel will consider other bids for loan/permanent move.

❗️ Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Aston Villa all in contact.

That would be phenomenal.

In the hierarchy of possible transfers reported by the media it kind of goes like this. Starting bottom to top to make the point:

Lowest - any ****** on Twitter who suddenly wakes up as ITK that morning. 95% made up shit
Footy Insider - where FV gets his info is a collection of the Footy Insider but a little filtered. So let’s go 75% made up shit
Romano - he wants to be first to break anything but he’s a cast the net fisherman hoping to catch a special fish in amongst all the shit that he drags up including waste products, licence plates, used condoms etc. But there is decent content at times and he’s connected so let’s go with 50% made up.

It starts to get serious when the reputable local media reports on stuff. So if Townley picks up on something the bullshit goes down a lot but it’s not 100% accurate. So let’s drop the made up stuff to 25%.

The Athletic - time to get worried or happy. They are pretty good at sorting the good from bad. If Tanswell has jumped on board shit is about to get real. Let’s go with 10% made up

Percy/Ornstein - the top of the food chain and when they jump on board the walls have been cracked. Bullshit is now down to 5% if they stick their neck out. Time to crack the champagne or shit yourself.

I’ve probably missed some levels like TS, Sky, Red top media etc. Probably somewhere in between Footy Insider and Romano

I know, I know...I was only saying to the other chap what the link showed.

Sorry, I thought it was a bunch of Tweets and can only see the first one. No worries.

The Athletic, Romano and Ornstein all reporting interest in Rashford. If, and it's a big if, he got fit and focused, Rashford/Rogers/Ramsey behind Watkins could work.

It's amazing what we can talk ourselves in to. Why take the risk with a disinterested player? Why not take a motivated player and make them even better?

Whenever we get a player to develop, we sell them to boost PSR before they develop. Getting a player in on loan who could be the finished article already if he's sufficiently motivated seems a gamble that would be worth considering, to me. He also has that "can play instead of or alongside Ollie" thing that we've been struggling with.

Fucking hell, we signed some shit.
Simon Dawkins. How the hell he played professional football is an absolute mystery to me, even now.
