I'd fear for Unai's job if Rashford came in.* Right now the man is poison, let West Ham have him. Plus, he'd seriously believe he's too good for us. There's a reason there isn't a queue of clubs willing to eitherr buy or take him on loan.

*Slight exaggeration but he's certainly played his part in the sackings of Man U's managers. Google 'Player FC'.

I don’t think Ten Hag or Solskjaer would have lasted half as long without him in all honesty. For about three seasons the plan was sit back, get ball to Fernandes and hope to get Rashford through on goal.

In the hierarchy of possible transfers reported by the media it kind of goes like this. Starting bottom to top to make the point:

Lowest - any ****** on Twitter who suddenly wakes up as ITK that morning. 95% made up shit
Footy Insider - where FV gets his info is a collection of the Footy Insider but a little filtered. So let’s go 75% made up shit
Romano - he wants to be first to break anything but he’s a cast the net fisherman hoping to catch a special fish in amongst all the shit that he drags up including waste products, licence plates, used condoms etc. But there is decent content at times and he’s connected so let’s go with 50% made up.

It starts to get serious when the reputable local media reports on stuff. So if Townley picks up on something the bullshit goes down a lot but it’s not 100% accurate. So let’s drop the made up stuff to 25%.

The Athletic - time to get worried or happy. They are pretty good at sorting the good from bad. If Tanswell has jumped on board shit is about to get real. Let’s go with 10% made up

Percy/Ornstein - the top of the food chain and when they jump on board the walls have been cracked. Bullshit is now down to 5% if they stick their neck out. Time to crack the champagne or shit yourself.

I’ve probably missed some levels like TS, Sky, Red top media etc. Probably somewhere in between Footy Insider and Romano

Whilst I agree on FI, Sky, TS...I think you're way off with Romano and especially Townley.

I find Townley way more cautious about what he talks about than Romano
This is Townley yeah at the Birmingham Mail yeah, not Tanswell right? I just don't see that all mate if truth be told. I think Townley is cautious because that's him, shy, introverted and waits for the green light from his boss to post. Nothing wrong with any of that but he definitely doesn't have any player/agent or source who goes to him first.

With Romano it's a pretty well known thing that many players and agents have gone directly to him to break certain situations to benefit the mentioned parties. Of course he will get things wrong, people change their mind but considering he covers a vast majority of the footballing world his ratio his right up there.

But the rest I agree on.

The other side of the coin is when you have a player revolt, blaming the manager rather than themselves, it gets very toxic. If it only happened once you'd ignore it but it's been going on since Ferguson left.

I think this transfer window has been a huge wake up call for Rashford. Unfortunately, I think he’s still hitting the snooze button.

When a new manager comes in (the latest guy up there) and your first move is to jet over to the USA for a basketball game rather than coming in for a fresh start and try to hit the ground running, you have to question if he has any desire whatsoever to be a serious or any type of footballer.

I do not believe Rashford has any interest in playing any more. I think he’d happily just sit out his contract doing nothing and then retire.

Harsh view for some, but I believe this.

Reality check: I think we'll get a CB in - Disasi or Danso - and that'll be it.
Rashford: no chance; he'll go abroad, heavily subsidised by redManc.
Felix: no way he'll come to Villa (and nor should we want him; he's a flake).
Ascensio: hmmm; maybe, but a short-term solution.
Cunha: no way the YamYams will sell him this month (and anyway, their price-ticket will factor us out) - maybe in the summer.

If Watkins becomes unavailable during the rest of the season, let's hope Malen, Rogers and Ramsey stay fit!

Rashford does not deserve to fall upwards after his lack of effort for the last couple of years so it’s a big ‘pass’ for me

Why do you think this CD?!

Someone who has views that I respect gave us his word that Rashford would be good.

I would have taken Rashford a while ago, when it looked like it was a Ten Hag problem, rather than a player problem. But lately he looks completely disinterested. He's also, according to reports, wanting Barca or to stay at Man Utd, which is ridiculous because he's not really in a position to be picky. Given how bad Man Utd are at the moment I doubt it would take much effort on his part to get into the team again. He must be doing f**k all to be so far out of their plans right now.

As ever, I agree with you, Leon. Barca have just announced they don't want him. He's had five weeks to find a new club but he was absolutely deluded to think Barca would want him and they were his level. Off the field he's done some great things I really admired (his work for children in poverty and the homeless) but right now I fear for his mental health.
