Nkunku is a brilliant player who just hasn’t got off and running there.
Where do you reckon Nkunku best position is ?

🟣🔵 Aston Villa have been in touch with Chelsea yesterday and will be again today for both João Félix and Axel Disasi.

Disasi only wants Villa, Félix deal depends on what Chelsea decide to do.

Malen, Rogers or Felix. Think Malen played there for PSV but the other two would be stop gaps.

The club has gambled like that a few times, with varying luck. Wouldn’t surprise me to see us risk it. I guess you would see Malen, Rogers or Felix used as a striker with a shift in tactics. Possibly also a youth player getting some game time too.

We've had a few fan favourites in that role that I can remember.... Benito Carbone, Paul Merson, arguably even Stilian Petrov who played in that more advanced role for Celtic before sitting deeper for us.

There's obviously a player in there 'somewhere', just a question of whether he will ever venture out!

I’m struggling to understand sone folks attitude to Felix on here.  He is a genuine would class player that lost his way after falling out with Simone (and he’s not the only one to do that).  He’s now approaching his prime and missing a coach that can turn him into the star he’s was destined to be.  This would be up there with our biggest signings ever if we pull it off

Felix is undoubtedly talented, and the only reason it hasn't worked out at Chelsea is because Cole Palmer has proven to be SO good.  They play in the same position, and right now, Felix knows he's second choice.

Given Chelsea paid £45m for him, and he's now potentially being disposed of, there is the potential to get him "on the cheap" - though it's all relative.  He was, after all, a £100m player before Grealish was, and he's still only 25.

If Unai thinks he can get a tune out of him, then I'm all for it, simply because we know the talent is there - it's just whether Unai can find a way to unleash it properly.

I'd also throw into the above, that Emery does seem to be a proper forward-whisperer. Not just with Villa - getting Bailey, Watkins, Duran and Rogers to levels that they could only dream of before, but also beforehand.

At Villarreal, the one season he had with Danjuma he became one of the best wingers in Europe. As soon as he has no Emery to help him, he's plodding around Spurs and Everton reserves. He turned (the solid, unspectacular) Gerard Moreno, Kevin Gameiro and Carlos Bacca into 30 goal-a-season strikers, something they'd never done before or since at that level.

He just seems to do something to forwards and if he reckons that he can harness that with Felix, I'm quite interested to see how.

And yes, I accept it would be nice if he did it again to Bailey.

It looks like Emery wants him, we are not in a position to go and buy a £60 -80 million player so we have to find opportunities to bring that type of talent in without the outlay.
If it works it could move us on towards another level.

That's certainly the hope and best case scenario.  Would be shite seeing Duran play for Chelsea though if that's the way we had to do things.

Until he gets dazzled by the bright lights of London and does something really stupid I suppose.

The lights in London are the same as those in Sutton Coldfield.

I know I shouldn't want Felix, but the kind of player he is tickles my weakest spot.

Judging him on his Chelsea time is not correct.
He's actually world class ability. I've always thought he was a special player.
We all remember Grealish at Villa but I always thought João Félix is enhanced version of him and is of a next level. They have same skillset and style but Felix is quicker on and off the ball and how he can glide past people and he can score and create goals.

Clearly if Emery wants him in our set up and makes sure he's of the right mind set then I tells you we are going to have a special player on our hands.
It could be very exciting indeed.

Watkins with Felix is mouthwatering
