Media reports that Villa are interested in resigning Carney "who Chelsea value at £40m".  Right so the player you paid £20m for and have scarcely used costs twice what you paid for him.  Dream on!

He's one of the ones they're looking to get rid of so entirely likely this is agents trying to drum up some interest in him.

If they make profit on Chuk then the games truly gone, and Chelsea have some of the dodgiest agents in the game working on their behalf. He's been injured and or shite for the whole time he's been there. Brilliantly talented, but done nothing to go for that money.

How can we still have money issues? Unbelievable

From my (very) limited understanding of it, this season was always going to be tight on the PSR front wasn't it?  The season we made a profit has now dropped off the rolling 3 year cycle and the £90m loss season is now season 1 isn't it?

Things may become clearer in the near future. Deloitte release their survey in January, which will reveal our turnover for last season. I expect this to be around £272m, based on the interview Heck did with that Philly podcaster, in which he stated that it has increased by £54m.Then there is the UEFA survey that last season revealed our losses of £120m(ish) from the season before.  I can’t remember when this was released last year. These surveys will probably lead to coverage and analysis from football finance experts, and insight from our own good people on H&V who are qualified to give further insight. (My accounts ‘O’ level doesn’t count, but I’ll put my two-penneth in).

Cheers percy

Im interested to see these figures. If they are as bad as we think it makes you wonder why we became  a bit careless with our spending over the previous seasons.

Spending 50m on onana for example doesnt seem like actions a team thats in the deep shit with FFP. I know on a 5 year contract that accounts to 10m over the next 5 years but surely if we were that screwed we wouldnt have spent that sort of money?

It does seem strange that we are being linked with another forward in this transfer window, maybe 1 of our current forwards is leaving us this summer?

Linked with doesn’t mean anything though.

interesting option and deal if available on loan

Aston Villa accelerate transfer priority after Pau Torres injury setback

Aston Villa are reportedly exploring a deal to bring Portuguese defender Antonio Silva to the football club after losing Pau Torres for the foreseeable future to injury. Centre half regular Torres is likely to be sidelined for up to two months after hobbling off with a metatarsal injury in Monday night's 2-2 draw at home to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Villa were looking at their back-line anyway; they've kept just two clean sheets this season, those arriving in the goalless draw at home to Manchester United and the narrow victory over Southampton more recently. That's despite the fact that in Europe they've remarkably found it easier - Villa have secured four shut-outs in their six group games so far.

Torres won't be available to Unai Emery for a couple of months, though, and in that time is expected to miss a good chunk of Villa's season both at home and on the continent. While Villa's battles to keep within the boundaries of PSR are well documented, they are expected to explore deals which are within their parameters.

It's been mooted abroad that Silva, a client of renowned agent Jorge Mendes, could be an option on a loan to buy deal; Silva, 21, is a Benfica academy product and has played regularly in the first-team for the last couple of years, clocking up over 100 senior appearances despite his tender age in the process - but this year he has lost his place and found minutes harder to come by.
Silva, a full international with 17 caps - ten of which were earned in 2024 - has been likely to leave Lisbon in order to continue playing more regularly elsewhere and, as expected, he has accumulated attention from around the continent. Indeed Mendes spoke only recently in public where he indicated that Juventus were especially keen.

“The Bianconeri want him, and he wants to join them. His current team has the last word," Mendes said. "They’ll have to make a decision. We need to be patient. We’ll see what happens. He’d surely be pleased to move to Turin. The transfer market is still technically closed. He’s a very important player. He has great quality and is being pursued by the most prestigious teams in the world.”

Reports have emerged in Italy, though, that Villa are discussing a move which involves moving initially on loan but with an obligation to buy in the summer for a fee of north of £40m. Villa have Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings and Diego Carlos in the meantime at the heart of defence, although Konsa had to play at right-back on Monday because of the suspension of Matty Cash.

Not really, everybody in the top half of the table is being linked to him.

Not sure if it's been mentioned.

Lewis Dobbin has been recalled from his loan at WBA.

Forgot he was even our player.

🚨 Aston Villa in talks to sign Vissel Kobe forward Taisei Miyashiro. @MarcoMolla #avfc

Forward. VK are the team we have an ‘agreement’ with (don’t think they are part owned by V Sports but some other deal).

Yeah, a “collaborative partnership”.

Dunno if he's any good but a Japanese player would be fancy.
