On a completely unrelated note, I wonder will Fulham come back in for Diego Carlos in January. Emery seemed keen to let him go last summer for some unknown reason. Especially now it seems Mings will be back pushing for game time.

According to Jacob Tanswell (Villa correspondent, The Arhletic) Fulham didn’t meet the asking price.

Which, as we know, every single player at Villa has, so this is not the win you think it is. Then again, as you think Premier League Champion Penalty Conceder Matty Cash is a better right-back than Ezri Konsa, despite the mountain of factual evidence that proves otherwise, I’m not surprised.

I’m increasingly a fan of Konsa at RB but I do think we should aim to upgrade.  Percy’s stats are illuminating but I suspect the results are partly due to a more defensive formation and also because Konsa replaces Cash rather than the excellence of Carlos.

Buying Konsa II should be a priority.

Edit: as Bren points out below, he hasn’t been a regular starter, yet has appeared in over two-thirds of our clean sheets.

Although we dont agree whether  carlos is good enough at least your presemting your argument with stats so thanks for sharing

Quite suprised how many there has been with him in i must admit

I’m quite surprised that people follow the matches with such intensity and passion, and then forget what happened so quickly.

Unfortunately we can tend to fall into the trap where we remember the big mistakes more than the things that you have put above (myself included)

I think Pau needs a powerful dominant partner alongside him. A right-footed Mings, or indeed Mings himself if he could play there. Konsa and Pau are porous. And you’re right, Carlos and Pau undoubtedly benefit from Konsa at right-back instead of Cash.

I wasn't a fan of Konsa at RB up until.this season to be honest, but I do think he is improving when he plays there.  Would still rather him at CB and a top quality RB coming in though.

In the starting 11 I think so yeah. If Bailey was anywhere close to his best then McGinn wouldn't be in the starting 11. Love him, but he's best picked for particular games or in-game changes.

I also think we still need to replace Diaby because Jaden isn't there yet. Moussa had an end product and a decent amount considering form wise he was probably a 6/10 last season.

McGinn is fine in the centre, just not on the right.

A right winger is priority for me. One that can cross.

Not sure Philogene will get any better, Cash needs replacing and we desperately need pace down the flanks.

RB and another attacking wide option. Philogean is nowhere near ready this season to be a serious option

Sky said we had a net spend of 70m which is peanuts compared to the other teams. We need to break bank and get mbeulo in. He is exactly what we need and a massive step up from philogene

I understand why people think we need an attacking player, but we have Rogers that can play there, whereas we have Cash and Konsa filling in.
It is more likely we will be working on Bailey and Philogene than replacing them because of PSR, unless we sell Bailey.
