I imagine Brentford would want at least £60m and we're bound by PSR and the even more stringent UEFA rules. I don't think we'll be buying anyone proven in the Premier League as the prices are too high.

Id pay it he will be worth that. Class player
Newcastle are apparently one of the clubs interested in signing him and they seemingly have their hands tied like us. We could get inventive and offer players in exchange. He's only just turned 25 and had a very productive season alongside Watkins a few seasons ago.

Well I know we won't be signing him but he would definitely be an upgrade.

Give them carlos 😁

Do you honestly think the clean sheets against Man City, Arsenal (twice), Bayern Munich, Man Utd and Bologna would have happened without Carlos? Bear in mind, they never do against anybody else when he’s not playing.

It’s like mass delusion on here. Looking at results and checking what the line-up was seems beyond people.

The last one at home last season was Wolves at the end of March. Guess who played?

The first one at home this season was Bayern. Guess who played?

The last one away last season was Arsenal. Guess who played?

The first one away this season was Young Boys. Guess who played?

Clue: it wasn’t Matty Catastrophe.

I dont understand how someone disagreeing with you is 'mass delusion' delusion is saying something like barnsley will sign ollie Watkins in the summer.  Saying you dont rate carlos is not delusion just a difference of opinion.

You have  pulled a handful of games that carlos has played well but how many bad games has he had for us? The answer is he has had more bad games than good hence why i would like a upgrade come the summer. Look at that mistake he made for palace goal - thats the second of this season already!

Konsa is a far superior player in his position  when you add carlos age as well he isnt going to get any better than he currently is. So i stand by my comment. Totally fine that you disagree by the way just the delusion part of your post is just completely wrong as i explained earlier 🙂

I’ve already reproduced the stats from all the games he played last season. It was something like 45 goals conceded with Cash/Konsa at RB/RCB, and 30 with Konsa/Carlos in those positions.

We concede less goals when he plays. You’re either deluded not to see it, as it is a simple verifiable fact, or you’d prefer us to concede more goals.

Take your pick.

I added the word ‘mass’ as so many people seem to agree with you. But we have a better defence with Carlos in it, and Konsa at RB. What do you call it when people disagree with verifiable facts?

For me, this is like arguing with someone who swears blind that we beat Palace the other night.

Again its not delusion if you dont rate a player and want a better player that makes zero sense.  You comparison at the end makes no sense as its totally different. I gave you a prime example of why its not delusion. So with respect i am not going to repeat that again.

We concede "less goals" yet we fail to keep clean sheets and he makes countless errors in games. His concentration levels for me are not at the level they should be. He makes too many mistakes. Its not just carlos i do rate though cash is another i dont rate. I think moving those two on in summer and we see even bettee improvement to the stats you presented.

Let me ask you this do you think carlos is a better player than konsa?

Bringing up clean sheets is not a good idea for you in this debate. Go back and check who played in our last six clean sheets. For ease of reference, its Arsenal away, Wolves at home, Young Boys, Bayern, Man Utd & Bologna.

I don’t think Carlos is a better player than Konsa, Konsa is a brilliant defensive right-back. The drop off between him and Cash in that position is huge.

It’s an absolute fact that we lost to Palace.

It’s an absolute fact that a defence of Konsa/Carlos/Pau/Digne concedes less goals than Cash/Konsa/Pau/Digne.

That’s why I brought them up. You’re denying undeniable facts.

On the Tyrone Mings thread, there is acknowledgement that although Mings & Konsa are better defensively than any other CB partnership we have, Pau’s contribution to our general play is more important to some posters. I can respect that opinion. What I would call delusional would be if someone was saying Konsa & Pau are a better defensive partnership. Because I can just count the goals conceded and find out that that is simply not true. Just like I can in this debate. (I’d disregard the games in which Olsen played instead of Emi). We’re not arguing over opinions here.

Percy deserves a cut of Diego's take-home, at least 5% surely.

It’s an absolute fact we lose to Palace but it’s equally an absolute fact Carlos set up the winner for them.

True say. But I go on the largest possible sample size. Although I could expand it further by bringing up when he was a vital part of the best defence in Europe in his last season with Seville. Shall I?

Im not arguing with you percy just engaging in a good debate.

Its funny you mention the arsenal away game how longa ago was that! The CL games barring munich are poor sides we would expect to beat (although i appreciate that you can only beat whats in front of you so thats not carlos fault)

But at same time carlos was cb in the team that leaked two goals vs ipswich, although i guess you couls argue carlos wasnt in the team that leaked two vs everton.

Fair point about konsa - pau they do leak as many but i just think konsa is the far better cb out of the two. He is defensively better and makes less errors at cb.

Like i said if you want another cb in one has to go and for me its a no brainer it has to be carlos. He is older too

Yeah but its quite clwar that this carlos is not the same carlos that was at sevilla. That injury has clearly had a impact on him.

On a completely unrelated note, I wonder will Fulham come back in for Diego Carlos in January. Emery seemed keen to let him go last summer for some unknown reason. Especially now it seems Mings will be back pushing for game time.

Carlos although he's improved quite a bit there are glaring lapses where he's cost us goals direct from poor play on more occasions than is acceptable.  The other night is fresh in the memory, Ipswich, ManU away last season and I'm sure somebody else will point out more. Given that he hasn't been a regular starter it's pretty damning and if we want to keep up our position let alone improve on it a player with lapses like he has is going to hinder us.

Personally, I’d always go for the defence that lets in the least goals. I’m learning that some people prefer conceding more goals. I don’t think I’ll ever understand it though.

Will you hug him now and stop giving him grief (Diego, not Perce - though that'd be cute too)?

I’m quite surprised that people follow the matches with such intensity and passion, and then forget what happened so quickly.
