Can we not call him Rashy - please...  I know its meant to be affectionate but it doesnt work.

I've been trying to get the people who sit near me at Villa Park to call McGinn 'McGiggles' for years but for some reason they aren't on board. I also tried to get them to call N'Zogbia 'Zoggles', but again, no dice.

Is "no dice" what you call Declan Rice?
To original question .
All the players and coaches call him Rashy.
i’ve called him rashy before he even came to Villa.
Don’t mean to annoy but it is what he does get called like Cashy gets called Cashy.

Players should be just called by the surname , in full .
No first names either . (Eg . Pau) . They aren't your mates . Stick to surnames .

William uses them and even though this isn’t the prince william thread he does know the nickname of all the players.

What do people call those English players Paul Gascoigne? and Gordon Cowans ?
I read here there anywhere references as both Gazza and Sid. McGrath has a nickname.
each to their own I say.

Nothing wrong with Pau, it's what he has on his shirt.

Over the 2 England games I make it 1 motm each for Konsa and Rogers, I'll take that along with no injuries.

36 clean sheets in 50 caps for Dibu.

Argentine GK record clean sheets is 43.

Any chance he could carry that form back to us? Ditto Konsa and Mings. They all seem to play well internationally.

Konsa and Mings keep clean sheets for us. They’ve even kept two with Olsen in goal. Granted they tend not to do so well with Cash at RB, as most of them were with Ashley Young there, and Disasi was great there v Brentford.
I love your 'CB-watch', Percy! Seriously, you're keeping us all honest on defence matters.

Thanks mate. They were so good in that first Emery season. Then in his second season we were so disjointed defensively that the clean sheets stuck out like sore thumbs, and the (to me) glaringly obvious success of the Konsa/Carlos/Pau combination became apparent. That continued in the CL this season and now the OGs are back, looking good again with a centre-half at RB.

I go on and on about it because people constantly bemoan our lack of clean sheets while seemingly not noticing that we’ve kept quite a few when the right combination of defenders play.

Young's contribution at RB in 2nd half of 2022-23 was massively understated.

Indeed. Massive upgrade on Cash.

Would you prefer just “Injury”?

So you will completely disregard other cultures at international events?

I thought Rashford so it’s clear who is being discussed was underwhelming last night.  Had many touches and crosses , a few good cross in to be fair , but should have made more of things when on the ball.
Second half he was moved mainly to right side of attack and wasn’t too impactful.

Rogers on the other hand was superb.

I'm not sure how you can put Stones in over Konsa after those 2 performances.
I had to do a double take. Konsas last two performances albeit against lowly opposition (in terms of world rankings) have been flawless and to leave him out of England's next game would be very very harsh. He's made the shirt his own at the moment and someone else has to take to off him. I don't see how it would be justified to give it back to John Stones right now.

Guess it depends what happens with Stones. By all accounts he's on his way out of Man City in the summer. I guess West Ham or Newcastle's John Stones is less likely to be a first-choice for England on being fit for 25 matches for them.

If Stones comes back, plays 30+ matches next season and is great then I imagine he'd find himself ahead of Konsa but I'd be very surprised if he strolled straight back in without doing something to justify it.

and in discussing Konsa on international duty I have always rated him better than Stones.

I felt in Euros he should have been playing there instead of Stones.
