You've got to feel for Malen, but Unai gets well-paid to make difficult decisions for the best of the team.   However, Malen is our player, who will be here for pre-season training.  The three chosen ahead of him might not - so you've got to hope Unai has handled this as well as it's possible to.

I think it makes sense. Malen will be disappointed, no doubt, but it could be the extra motivation to his performances for the rest of the season. It also does us good, assuming he doesn't sulk, to have fresh legs for our league games after the CL ones.
