If we can get into the top 8 and Liverpool get to the League Cup final, not only do we get an easier February, we get a three-week break in March as well.

That could be great for the squad. Fingers crossed this happens.

And presumably the Liverpool game would be rescheduled for very late in the season, by which time they could have plausible wrapped up the title.

There was a spell in the 1970s where Liverpool seemed to wrap up the league at Anfield by beating us by 3 goals. At least we’ve already played them away.

Carlos, Philogene, Buendia leaves three spaces to be filled. Garcia and Malen plus one other. If we sell a fourth, we leave ourselves weaker in CL squad going forward.

Philogene was filling a club-trained spot, so we can't stick one of new guys there.

Our CL squad for the next stage will be 22 players I think.

I thought being as he left and came back, that didn't matter anymore.

I thought being as he left and came back, that didn't matter anymore.

Of the 25 players, eight need to be "association trained", so played in the same country for three years, irrespective of the player's nationality, between the ages of 15 to 21.

And of those eight, four need to be "locally trained", so on the club's books, irrespective of the player's nationality and age, for at least three years between the ages of 15 and 21.

So Philogene (and Ramsey) were our two players that met the latter criteria, leaving us two spots short of our full 25. We're now three spots short, so a squad of 22.

They're young enough that they don't need to be included in the squad of 25.

Done, fucking immense achievement to get into the top 8. Big money in the bank as well, with a 5year contract it's enough to cover a £35-40m signing.
