It really would be. No idea why they can't separate teams from the same country. Can't we just say we refuse to recognise the existence of London, Greater Manchester or Merseyside, like Serbia do with Kosovo? That way we'll be banned from drawing any of the twats.

Agree playing Man Citeh would be fucking terrible but I'm not sure it's a "pretty good chance". There's a hell of a lot of permutations down their end too.

It's impossible to game the system for a perceived easier draw. Which is as it should be.

Basically, we are probably through if we win and any of Atalanta, Atletico, AC Milan or Leverkusen fail to win or if Inter lose, assuming no weird results below us.

If we hammer Celtic we could still catch Leverkusen if they only manage a narrow win.

I thought needing three was over the top, then realised you probably included the ones below us as well.

If we end up 9th there's a pretty good chance we play Man City, which would be an utterly terrible draw.
Would it though? I expect they are more worried about playing us.

Well. Along with PSG they're probably the only team we could realistically get in the play offs who would be favourites against us, and playing Man City twice more would be pretty boring.

It would be so unbelievably shit to end up facing City in the playoffs. Is there a scenario where towards the end of the Celtic game it will look like we are better off not winning so we can avoid them? Perhaps we bring on Olsen and Swinkels if so.

We could conceivably draw with Celtic, then draw Celtic.

If we finished 9th and they finished 24th, we might still not get them as 23rd / 24th are drawn against the 9th/10 teams so it could be 9th/23rd and 10th/24th.

But to be honest, if we are winning and still in the play-offs, a lot of other results have massively gone against us.

I thought about this same scenario this morning. I know we beat them but i would also want to avoid bayern.

Would love brugges just so we cant put that one  right.  Even another game vs monaco over two legs i think we beat both

My vote still goes to "finish in the top eight and hope as many big teams below us draw each other"

Think we would all love that dave. All we need is to win and hope one of four clubs slips up amd we are sorted

Unfortunately most of the big teams playing each other has been avoided the last game week. Not one top 9 club is playing against one another annoyingly

Apart from Barca/Atalanta. And go one more team down and it is Inter v Monaco.

But if position in the table meant a result was guaranteed a certain way, why did we lose to Monaco, why did Bayern lose to Feyenoord, why did Sporting lose to Leipzig. If we win 3-1, I think it would be a bigger shock if we were not in the top 8.
