Sixth would also be enough if England gets the extra place, and an English team wins the Europa League and finishes exactly fifth. I assume the same if it happens with a Champions League winner but not sure as it was never a possibility last season.

I wonder what happens if arsenal won CL, united won europa, england get 5 CL spaces  but both fall outside top 5 (wont happen esp for arsenal.) Is there potential for 7 teams? Or am i getting myself  in a mess 😂

Yes, seven teams is possible. But I don't think you can qualify by finishing seventh (unless you win the Champions League or Europa League). Not 100% sure though.

This new format is certainly bringing out some shock results. Of course if the “big boys” get knocked out early, I’m fairly certain UEFA will revert back to the old format next season. They’re probably dreading a final of Monaco v Lille!!

I'd imagine the TV rights depend on their promise of those extra matches, so I doubt it will revert.

Im loving it. At first i thought this would be  crap. But to see teams like city and madrid struggling it makes it even better

I reckon if this continue to happens in next few years wont take long till the big boys kick off and demand format changes or reverts back

This format is set for at least 2024-2027. They can't change the format with a click of the finger

That’s great as I prefer the new format but, just don’t think they were expecting these crazy results.

The best thing about this format is the absence of second legs. Teams like us and Monaco etc can put everything into a performance and bank the rewards straight away.

Why wouldn't they? Lens beat Arsenal. Copenhagen and Galatasaray both beat Man Utd. Shakhtar and Antwerp both beat Barcelona. Newcastle beat PSG.

And all that was just last year.

As expected with the new format Celtic have a great chance of at least the play-off, the old format teams like them had very little chance of anything but bottom place. I prefer this format even if we weren't in it.

Beating Man U was common place last season for everyone, well apart from one club.

If there is any consistency in the the scum teams from before not making it through then i would imagine the same scum teams will look again to breakaway.

Other teams are not meant to break their monopoly

The funny thing is they have their "super league" yet most if they have been shit at it
