In the Round of 24, 9th-16th placed teams play 17th-24th placed teams with 9th-16th placed teams seeded and having home advantage in second leg.

In the Round of 16, 1st-8th placed teams play winners of Round of 24 with 1st-8th placed teams seeded and having home advantage in second leg.

Thanks for clearing that up. I didnt know if there was any advantage of finishing higher in play offs. Really we want second leg at home as we cab beat most teams at VP on our day  so really we want to be finishing in top 16

Honestly, are people that worried about Bayern? I get that they're something of a European powerhouse, but:

- It's Emery v Kompany
- We know all about Kane and Olise
- Gnabry hasn't been setting the world alight in recent seasons
- I'd rather have Tielemans and Onana than Kimmich and Pavlovic
- Eric Dier

It's the KAne and Olise v our current defensive set up which worries me. Sure we can score a couple against them, its what they could do in return

Plus Musiala - probably one of the five best dribblers in Europe at the minute.

They're a brilliant side, and it will be a really tough game - but we can (and do) beat even the best sides when we turn up and play well.

I've got Rogers and Ramsey, who are the other 2 players you reckon are better than him at dribbling?

Thats what i was thinking. Surely they wont move a CL game over a league one game. They will have to move the blose game

We've often played the same night as each other. It's the only chance their fans will ever have of heading to the Sty and seeing away fans in town for a CL game.

I worry that as Kane remains England captain his diving antics will still be fallen for by officials.

These are no better than Man City in their pomp and we beat them thanks to the tactical genius of SUE

Apparently 4 of the Pot 4 teams won their first game this week whereas none of the bottom seeded teams in last years competition won a match in round one.
I have to say I really like this format - much more interesting.

It's better because the 'League' part of the name actually means something now. The champions bit still doesn't but that boat left port a long a time ago.

Hopefully they inform the Hollywood fans so they don't have a wasted trip.

I think the Champions League is organised to give an equal number of games on each night for each country, where possible. They won't move our game as they'd have to move either Man City or Liverpool (and if they do that they'll have to move another German and Austrian team for the same reason). In short, it won't happen.

However, if they were going to move the Blose game I imagine they would already have announced it by now.

I really like it too - but I do wonder how much that's because (a) we're in it and (b) it seems set up to benefit bigger, richer teams. Which in a league including Sturm Graz, Slovan Bratislava, Young Boys, Brest, Brugge etc, we definitely are.

The change has definitely benefitted us, and I'm far more confident that we're going through than I would have been with six matches against one each from Pot A, B and C. So I like it, but I'm not sure it's from a position of objectivity.

After one round of matches, I reckon about eight of the bottom thirteen clubs are ones you'd probably expect to stay there for the whole competition and unless something odd happens it would be pretty strange to see any of the bigger clubs not make it to the next round. So it's great for the likes of us, but it's easy to see why it might be far more tedious for people who aren't us.

And it's definitely done with helping the bigger, richer clubs in mind. Which until recently, we were obviously Not In Favour Of.
