It was an excellent double save but are we going to ignore the fact that he was well off his line when the pen was taken.

I thought that at the time, but didn't see a replay from the side.

We sit in 4th. Im liking this new format. Its alot more competitive and better as you get more variety of different games. Better than playing same side home and away

Just curious how play off works at that stage. If you can draw anyone or if its top 8 in one pot and bottom 8 in another

In the Round of 24, 9th-16th placed teams play 17th-24th placed teams with 9th-16th placed teams seeded and having home advantage in second leg.

In the Round of 16, 1st-8th placed teams play winners of Round of 24 with 1st-8th placed teams seeded and having home advantage in second leg.

After the first match day it’s feeling like we need to take the majority of our points from the first 4 games. Both Bologna and Bruges are beatable and anything we get from Bayern is a bonus. I think Juve, Leipzig and Monaco will be difficult and whilst we should beat Celtic it could be tight. That said I reckon we’ll get about 13-15 points and be at the top end of the play off spots.

Obviously it won't stay that way, but as it stands you could have Man City vs Real Madrid in the playoffs to get to the last 16.

It's an interesting format. A "big" club could lose quite a few games, finish 16-24th, and play a less good team in the playoffs. You could nearly play a B squad once you'd guaranteed a top 24 finish, and then bring the A squad back in for the play offs.

But if you'd guaranteed top 24 early, surely you'd take your ability to win Champions League games and try to win a couple more to get top 8?

Two places behind a team from "The Dog and Duck". Emery out!

Three places really, I'm assuming we have a worse co-efficient than Dortmund so should be below them.

Honestly, are people that worried about Bayern? I get that they're something of a European powerhouse, but:

- It's Emery v Kompany
- We know all about Kane and Olise
- Gnabry hasn't been setting the world alight in recent seasons
- I'd rather have Tielemans and Onana than Kimmich and Pavlovic
- Eric Dier

We played three home games against pot one teams last season, and won two and drew one. Let them worry about us.

Edit: scratch this, Arsenal are pot two. Four points out of six, then.

Also, they'll shit their pants when they see it's us again.

A bit like we did when we had to play those ****** Rapid Vienna again.

Reminded me of the double save against us where he saved Ollie’s header seemingly into an open net

That was a single save. The first shot hit the bar.

The pen was shit and the header was almost straight down the middle. Shite talk.
