The real fallout of all of this is going to come over the next 3 or 4 months.  Like others, we have waited long enough to see Villa at the top table so are going to do all we can to go to those games - we'll be knocking a load of others on the head though to pay for it.  If others are in the same boat then good luck to Heck in getting day trippers through the door for Southampton, Bournemouth, Brentford, Ipswich et al - the best Villa team in years is going to be playing those games in front of sub 36k crowds I reckon, and with his pisstaking GA+ seats all but empty.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that won't happen.

They'll be 40,000+ at each of those games. How well his hospitality does is another matter.

So where are the people going to come from to fill the seats we won't be buying?  Arsenal already failed to sell out, a big fixture and first home game of the season - for every Champions League game we are going to not bother with 2 league games to pay for it.

My point is, the club don't want us at the games we have been waiting for years to go to - fuck that.  We'll take up our tickets for those games, find another sucker to pay £50 to watch us at home on a Tuesday night in December against relegation fodder.  I think Heck has seriously miscalculated the amount of people who will do that.

Maybe.

However, maybe I'm misreading the audience, but aren't the people who are happy to pay hundreds of pounds for a bit of food, drink and schmoozing while they watch the game probably going to be the the same clientele who aren't going to be that militant about their ticket being £30 more than they expected?

attendances as always will depend on how the team is doing, if we are in and around the top 4 they will stay 40k+ BUT if we start drifting out of contention i think Mr Heck is in for a nasty shock

I'm as certain as I can be that I have been bought a ticket for the Bournemouth match as it is the one nearest my birthday!

I'd just say that Arsenal was August, prime holiday season and that has a huge impact.

I think my point is, even with the expansion of GA+, you're not talking about too many additional seats. So you'll get 40,000 legacy bods even if the more affluent cannot be bothered to do GA+.

We're probably doing our wealthier supporters a disservice to be honest, as even if I were loaded and liked to quaff and sip bubbles, I'd still want to turn up to see us smash relegation fodder.

I'm planning on bringing my kids to the Bournemouth match for their first time at VP. Part of the appeal for that particular game is that if the demand isn't as great as it otherwise might be, I can plan the weekend around that a couple of months in advance without too great a risk that we might struggle for tickets.

That's probably a bit anomalous to the wider situation, but there's a few extra seats made back up.

It's interesting the club don't publish or announce attendance figures anymore as far as I am aware, which seems a deliberate attempt to hide the amount of empty seats we have.

I'm not buying that we didn't sell out against Arsenal just because it was August though.  If so why has it not been the case for every game in August since we came up?  The real ones to watch will be Brentford and Southampton in early December.  Neither of them will bring more than 1k fans, meaning there will already be an empty block in the upper Witton we try to sell if we can.  If the likes of my family are not going having barely missed a home game in the last 4 years I really don't see where the people to fill even close to 41k seats come from on a cold evening/afternoon in the lead up to Christmas.

We have the past 4 years. Why when we're the best we've been in 40 odd wouldn't we? GA+ is a discreet issue, I don't see the merit in extrapolating it and neither do the club.

i dont understand how we didnt sell out V Arsenal because every time i logged onto the website as a claret member it was showing as sold out and occasionally a ticket would show up at random - there were certainly no blocks of tickets available on the site. We got tickets upstairs in the Holte and there was a block of seats unnocupied in the Witton and we were like "where the hell did they come from??"
