Maybe they just aren't very good.

Maybe but you wont know unless you play them

Probably have a good idea seeing them in training every day though.

I thought it was telling Emery's comments in Feb when loads were expecting Tim to come in after Kamara's injury and he was saying words to the effect of not believing enough in training.

Three months on and he's still rooted to the bench with us down to the bare bones in central midfield.

I do think we produce some talented players but a lot of them don't seem to have that arrogance of believing they belong in the premier league when they break through. Gabby certainly had that swagger in his early seasons of coming through and then Ramsey in recent times also settled in nicely as has Rogers so that's exactly who Tim needs to be looking at if he wants to be a serious premier league player eventually.

Not sure why he didn't just go out on loan in August as we still have Donk in the squad up to the end of the January window so he'd have been more up to speed at least.

Roberto De Zerbi: "To be honest, this was not Villa today. I can understand it because they are competing in the Conference League and have a lot of injuries.

"And because of that, they couldn't be the Aston Villa of usual."

Forgive me if this has previously been posted.

Fair play to him.

A strange weekend.
One team wins and get relegated to the 3rd division.
Another team loses and move ever close to playing in the European Cup for the first time in 41 years.

Spawny Vilers!   ;D

😂🤣

Cash was gash; Diaby was anonymous; we had nothing to offer; Olsen did well!

I am one of those who believe that Tim, KKH and Kellyman could have had more involvement in recent games because we lack the youthful enthusiasm and energy that hey would bring.

Yeah, or not able to do the job he wants them to.  I think its probably more about "fit" rather than ability.  Hence why Rogers has done well because he "fits" into the way we want to play.  Maybe the youth players don't.

Quite, we could have hung in there for a good point. We may have been hammered playing those who the manager isn’t trusting to start.

I think Emery deserves enough credit to allow him to select his sides and the reasons for not selecting certain individuals. He had no problems playing Rogers, so it’s nothing to do with age.

As soon as I saw Cash coming on I had him and Gross to get booked and Brighton to win 1-0. A ridiculous 137/1 winner.

Too easy!

Siri, show me 'things that never happened'.

He's the bane of bookies throughout the land. They dread seeing him pull up outside in his Bugatti Veyron (paid for by his winnings).

For me, this was Unai trying to conserve player energy levels and game management. He was playing for a draw with a clear couple of “sprints” in the second half to knick a goal. Unfortunately the soft penalty ruined the game plan, but it would have been welcomed as a good away point if we see the game out. I don’t like playing this way but can understand why. Narrow margins.

Not sure why people can not understand that the difference in performance from 2023 to 2024 is down to fatigue and injuries.

It didn’t look any different to the one we didn’t get for the challenge on Rogers in the first half.

When was the last time Ollie did not have so much as a shot on goal?

That’s it really and an elite coach like De Zerbi saw that. We are at the end of our tether and limping home.
