A pity we don't have any outstanding candidate for young player. Seems a bit daft that it would be Rogers given he's barely been here three months, but Duran is the only competitor I can think of.

Rogers for young player, which is hard on Duran who has been decent.

Emi for best Goalie in the universe award.

Only Emi could challenge Ollie for player of the season really.

SJM has driven this team forward when those around him have given up.
For somebody that never wanted to be captain, my god, he's really led by example.

Honourable mentions to:

Watkins - goals scored and a brilliant second half of the season; first wasn't too shabby either.
Martinez - we take him for granted but he's kept us in so many games.
Konsa - demonstrated maturity and leadership all season that nobody expected he had.

I genuinely marvel every time I watch Martinez and realize we have the best player in the world in his position. I think he will probably never win an award like this because he’s just too good and has normalised being world class.

Ollie has just gone up the levels so much and been really so consistent. He holds himself so differently now. He believes he is the player he’s become.

Bailey in a way is probably the most surprising one because after the first game of the season I thought this season would be it for him.

Rodgers is looking like a bona fide steal. I really enjoy watching him. He’s improvising so quickly it’s almost unbelievable.

There are again a lot of contenders, a far cry from the days when Stephen Ireland and even Matty Cash won it due to a paucity of choice.

I am not usually one to plump for the goalscorers but the sheer volume of Watkins' goal contributions means it has to be him. All being well, he will achieve something that no Villa player has achieved for 42 years in the next few weeks too.

Honourable mentions to Bailey, Martinez, McGinn, Dougie, Digne and Bouba before his injury. Konsa probably would have figured too if he hadn't been shunted to right back so often.

SJM for me, the most consistent player this season, has led the team brilliantly and played multiple roles.
The one player we can not afford to lose.

Ollie Watkins for me. His development was stunted under Gerrard and it looked like he would forever be the guy getting 10-15 Goals a season never breaking through to be in the Golden Boot conversation. The last 18 months shows what world class coaching can do to someone who maybe has all the tools but isn’t in an environment that can deliver. All aspects of his game have improved and I actually think he can get better.

I got it and voted Oliie, but was very close with Emi and then Bailey 3rd in my mind.
A striker with so many goal involvements had to pip it IMO, I'm so hopeful he manages to get over the 20 before the end of the season!

Bailey had a rotten start to the season.

Is it me or you completely misremembering his start to the season? Diaby started more than him, sure, but Bailey played himself into the starting lineup, scoring quite a few goals. That’s how I remember it. He’s had a very good season.

Difficult to look past Ollie though, even though it’s a bigger pool to choose from for a change.
