Anybody remember who got player of the season in 2015-16?   No, me neither.
Micah Richards
And, unlike us, he found the whole thing hilarious.

Bailey had a rotten start to the season.

Is it me or you completely misremembering his start to the season? Diaby started more than him, sure, but Bailey played himself into the starting lineup, scoring quite a few goals. That’s how I remember it. He’s had a very good season.

Difficult to look past Ollie though, even though it’s a bigger pool to choose from for a change.

He was subbed on and off against Liverpool and most of this forum wanted him sold! I think it might have been after the Fulham home game that he kicked into gear for us. Emery was quite critical of his away performances for some time but I recall him being outstanding in Alkamaar for one. So it definitely took time for Bailey to hit his best form.

During that time likes of Watkins,  Luiz and McGinn were running the show for us. That Fulham home game for example McGinn was sensational, Paulinha was being linked with Bayern at the time and McGinn ran all over him! Possibly out best individual performance of the season.

Konsa probably would have figured too if he hadn't been shunted to right back so often.

Agreed, not his fault. He struggled badly without Mings in the early games but settled down to form a solid partnership with Torres, remember how strong our offside line was at one point.

Moving him to RB did impact his form and our defence generally. He is rotten at RB

I know who I'd vote as most annoying H&V poster.

Much like the team it's a competitive field.

Pau for me, think he’s so important to how we play and how we’ve stepped up a level this year

He’d already scored 6 goals by the Fulham home game. He’s easily been one of our best players this season.

Watkins
Luiz
Bailey

In that order, for me.

What a year when multiple people have an argument for PotY. My own rankings:

1) Watkins - #3 in the league in goals scored and #1 in assists.  If he played for Man City, he'd likely be the runaway winner for Player of the Season.
2) Martinez - A close second behind Ollie and a true world-class keeper.
3) Bailey - Definitely most improved player of the year.  I haven't sat up in my seat with excitement like I do every time the ball reaches his feet, since Ashley Young played for us the first time around.
4) Luiz - A bit of a drop off after the first three, but when Luiz is on his game he looks like one of the best midfielders in the world.
5) McGinn - Not as polished as Luiz, but when he's on his game, I feel like we don't lose.  As he goes, the team goes.
6) Konza - Really stepped up as a Central Defender and made a name for himself once Mings went down.  Unfortunately, he's been pushed to RB more often than not, and he's not quite as adept there.
7) Torres - Looking at this list, I can't believe I have him 7th.  It seems like the defense loses something when he's not in there.

It's an indicator of what an excellent side we've become that people are mentioning anybody but Ollie.

It's obviously going to be him that wins (and rightfully so, in my opinion) but as has been said many times, it feels harsh on the likes of Martinez, Konsa, Pau, Kamara, Dougie, SJM, Bailey.

We just have a bounty of riches, and long may it continue!

He's not rotten at right back at all. He's done ok there when called upon.
