The thing with the injured players who are coming back is that we still have to pay them. Some will say we're "gambling" on them being fit but the truth is that, because of the rules, we probably haven't got much choice but to count them in.

If you include them the squad looks full:

Martinez (Olsen, Gauci)

Cash (Ned)
Maatsen (Digne)
Konsa, Pau (Carlos, Mings)

Onana, Tielemans (Barkley, Kamara, Donk)

Bailey (Philogene)
Rogers (Buendia)
McGinn (JJ)

Watkins (Duran)

Another defender and forward would be nice, as would moving Donk on, but it's not the end of the world if our 5th CB ends up being Bogarde and if we have to look at having some of the other youngsters involved here and there.

I’ve decided to become more mature and level-headed this summer, and as of such agree with cdbf that we need more sexy skillsy party time attackers. I don’t just want us to win the European Cup, I want us to do it whilst simultaneously funeraling everyone we meet

Big seasons needed from Nedeljkovic, Bogarde and Philogene plus Buendia/Mings/Kamara need to hit their pre-injury levels sooner rather than later. It's going to be a long tough road.

Buendia can't get minutes cos we are well-covered in his position! You can't use him as an argument about our squad not being strong enough.

You can if he's not good enough. He was never really a regular even when he was our record signing. I just can't see him being good enough in this massively improved Emery team, especially after a year out.

I'm also starting to think Monchi might not be all he's cracked up to be.

Some of us did say that he wasn't actually transfer Jesus at the time we brought him in.

Well it looks like you were bang on the money. I knew nothing about him, but I do seem to recall people saying that his last few seasons hadn't really been very inspiring. He was second choice as well wasn't he, after the bloke who looked like he was coming but then didn't.

Although it does appear that we wanted at least a new versatile right-sided defender and if possible a sexy, hot attacking midfielder. Given our interest in players in those two positions.

He played almost every game for emery before injury, so this notion he wasn't regular isn't true at all

He was a regular under Emery. Played in every single match and started all but three.

Yes. Surely his position will be under question when senior bods consider what’s happened this summer?

We currently have no one that can cover pau if he gets injured.

Diego Carlos. But if we go and get another player in that position for the whole season (or buy one permanently), then we are overstocked there when Mings comes back.

Has carlos played on the left of the cb? I swear he covers ezri?

As for mings i be suprised if he plays a game before xmas. Buendia had a pre season and still cant get minutes

He's played for us as a left sided centre back and that's where he played for Sevilla.

Thanks didnt know that. Thats good to know as last season we used lenglet there.

And given Emery's record for improving players, I'd wonder if Emery's Buendia might not be exactly the same as Smith, Gerrard or Farke's Buendia.

The issue is if we finish 7th and go in conference league are players like maatsen going to want to stay? He already said CL was one of the main reasons he signed for us

I can see a situation like that arising. I do think whoever said kamara will be moved on next summer is spot on. Thats exactly what the club will do as be pure PSR profit

I think the issue is you worry too much about how awful things might be in the dire scenarios you dream up, constantly, and then you pen it down and despite you not knowing a Michael Jackson pun when they hit you in the face, I read it.

So far today what if we finish 7th, what if our best players leave, what if Onana gets a serious injury, what if Kamara is months away. I'm surprised yesterday was not what if Skynet really did become self aware at 02:14am Eastern Time.

Today is going to be Demitri saying the same thing over and over again.

Lets see what today brings. I reckon a loan or two possibly

Thanks for that useful insight in the future can you provide the euro millions numbers tonight as you appear to be able to look into the future?

Now what are you on about? I've just suggested we might bring in two loans.  Calm down.

Im calm thank you and im on about you part of the post where you wrote "Demitri will be saying the same thing over and over again" a dig for no reason.

We’ve got incredibly wealthy owners who are so desperate to spend their money on us that they tried to have the rules changed.

If this is what we’ve got to work with it’s because our hands are tied. The only thing that seems a little strange is the loaning out of the players from Juve. But I imagine wage wise they don’t add up to Dendonker and they were easier to shift out.

The restrictions mean that it’s important we shift our deadwood (which luckily is only Donk and Carlos really, best I’ve known it) but also means no one else will take them.

Rules are functioning as they’re intended to, keeping new money clubs down, and is tightening the purse strings across the game as a whole.

Still think we’ll get into knockouts of champions league and finish top 4/5.

The argument he would say is that he's fine everything under the rules to keep us competitive. I think Juve were the only show in town for Doug, and we wanted Soule but he wanted to stay in Italy, so we have gambled with players that will most likely make us a decent profit in years to come. Emery wanted Philogene back badly, so got him. Onana was second choice to Gallagher in midfield but looks a decent signing.
