What cover do we have at left centre back for Pau Torres in case he gets injured? Tyrone is some weeks off returning and being match fit.
Pau will not get injured. He’s not a desperate defender or reckless tackler.

Where's vinnie? Surely he has some inside info to share with us this close to the end.

Even if people are feeling underwhelmed at the moment, I think you could bet your house that Villa have pushed to the very limit of what is possible while staying within PSR and UEFA’s squad cost rules.

That’s right Percy, I’m sure we have pushed it to the limit and hopefully with some of the deals we have done, some will move on next summer and that on top of this seasons European adventure we’ll be in a better shape next summer.

These rules are tough going for us and many other clubs now, but I’m also still convinced a deal or two will happen before Friday.

absolutely. Part of it is we did our business very early and that high dissipates as the window really picks up and other clubs do their business late on. We were all excited back in June/early July. It just feels a little like last summer where it might look like we are one or two really good players away. But then few of us thought the side we started the season with; and without even considering the brutal injuries to Emi and Mings, was a little light. But Emery got us to 4th. This season will be so much tougher so without one or two extra true first team calibre starters we may not have enough to maintain ourselves in the top 4 plus compete in CL and the other cups.

It's hard to believe, that we have generated the largest amount in the Premier League, as far as outgoing transfers, this window with £125m.. and we're still up against it.

Our current net spend is trounced by the likes of Spurs (£111m), Brighton (£82m), West Ham (£78m), Ipswich (£71m) and Southampton (£60m).

Las Palmas have made contact over a potential loan move for Leander Dendoncker — wages are currently presenting a stumbling block.
@J_Tanswell #avfc

Thank you, Mr steven Gerrard, for agreeing to £90k per week

It’s not a return to Las Palmas but he will play 7.

Wasnt he out for around 8 weeks last season and we struggled massively without him?

Not sure we can blame Gerrard for the salary package, that stopped with Purslow.

Word at the time is that Dendoncker was Lange's signing rather than Gerrard.

Whereas Carpethead can take some credit in persuading Kamara to opt for us over Atletico early in the Spring/Summer of 2022, by the time the Donk signed in Autumn Slippy G was already on a sticky wicket.

We moved when it looked likely that Douglas Luiz would be off to the Gooners.

Anyway back to Jackson. I like like him, strong, skilful and a bit of a Speed Demon when he gets going.

It’ll be close to midnight if he signs.

A quick look on the squad page and Lamare Bogarde is listed as a first team central defender,  other than he recently signed a contract extension I admit I know very little about his strengths and weaknesses but he may be the cover plan short term.
