There’s a very big difference betw bringing unwanted media attention ie J.Grealish / M.Rashford and openly undermining the club and manager in a calculated press statement on the cusp of a game ie R.Sterling which is a massive step up from Duran and his crossed arms did that offended so many

I don’t believe in talent, God given or otherwise. The best players have mental fortitude, discipline and work harder than weaker ones on their strengths and weaknesses.

You think Messi is as good as he is because he worked harder? Clearly working harder will make better use of talent, but there’s no way I could be as good as Messi, even if I wasn’t a lazy bastard.

The links to samu are exciting. But can't imagine we will sign him unless duran is sold

Sterling looks like he's decorating a plate on MasterChef.

Ha, best description yet!

I don't why people what to make a religious debate about it. Certainly not a transfer thread. Can we move on and back to the transfer news.

I'd have always taken 'an Emery type player' to mean 'a player who'd do well in an Emery team'.

Don't most players tend to do pretty well in an Emery team, because Emery's a very good manager?

Across all his clubs, I can't think of anything that particular defines the players who have done well for him. And certainly nothing that Sterling has (or doesn't have) that sets him aside as someone that Emery couldn't get on board with.

Ok, today's rumour is that God is looking for a new keeper to replace Jesus, as he's not comfortable on crosses, and Noah was on Sky Sports News praising Chelsea's transfer policy, saying it was 'wise planning for a rainy day".

It's not the best way to deal with the situation, but he's still more sinned against than sinner here.

He's spend the whole summer as part of the squad, played every single pre-season match, been built up in the press as "one of our important players" by Maresca and then on the day the season starts is told that he's not being considered for the squad and his shirt number is being given to somebody else with only a week left of the transfer window?

It's an unhelpful reaction from Sterling, but it's also a pretty shabby way to treat someone.

But then you've got their manager basically admitting that their 'bomb squad' consists of about 15 people, so it's not like he's been singled out. I mean, if you'd asked Unai specifically about Alex Moreno in pre-season, he'd have probably said "great guy, important player" but then didn't pick him, or new guy Barrenechea for the squad.

Because some of the battles Sterling has to deal with is ludicrous, and there's no reason for H and V posters to make claims of his character.  To be very clear I'm not suggesting that anyone here has been racist, but Sterling has shown great character in speaking out and standing up to racism, so people could acknowledge this aspect of his character. Sterling also has an unshakeable faith in God, and the fact that his own talent is God-given means he's actually one of the good guys.

Hmmm.

Very similar wording to this website https://www.the42.ie/pep-guardiola-making-of-a-super-team-extract-4905861-Dec2019/

"Sterling has an unshakable faith in God and in the fact that his own talent is God-given." It's *almost* like the Footy-Vill account is a team of bots or an AI project scraping content from other sites.
That where I took it from to highlight character!!
Dear lord !

Religion does not "highlight character".

There are millions of decent people who are religious, who practice their interpretation of whichever religious sect they have chosen without attempting to force their opinions onto others.

And there are millions of people who are religious who hate other people due to their skin colour based upon their individual religious views, sexuality, etc, etc, & actively seek to make changes to other peoples lives based upon their own interpretation of whichever religious sect they have chosen & at times cherry picking one thing to focus in on that affects others but ignoring something that effects themselves. An example of this is hating homosexuality because of one narrow interpretation of text in the old testament "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable" (Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13) that was nothing more than part of a long list of old Jewish laws that also included a ban on shellfish, pork, tattoos, etc. None of those are followed by Christians today.

And there have been plenty of wars started over religion.

So lets not get all high & mighty about religion being only positive thing.

As for your other comment about Sterlings "god given talent", surely under every deity of every sect has all things "god given"?

Positive & negative.

Jeffrey Dahmer had a '"god given talent" for eating people. Hitler for killing other religious groups, etc, etc.

Lets not fall down the fallacy of exclusion hole.

As for Sterlings "team" statement, if he was told on Friday that he was going to struggle to get minutes, that he would be training with the Chelsea version of a 20 man bomb squad, & not Marescas type of winger, then the Sterling statement included lies as it said that he was expecting to be involved with Chelsea due to positive relationship with coach, positive dialogue with the club, etc.

So to wait a further two days, right until just before KO, to get "his team" to officially release his statement was a planned attempt at disrupting the clubs game, direct attention towards himself & shows a distinct & quite frankly massive ego to make the whole games chat all about him.

So, to conclude, religious beliefs mean nothing to confirm positive character. Ability & lack of ability are both "god given", if thats what floats your boat. And Sterlings statement was all meant to be about him, therefore, massive ego.

In my humble opinion, of course.
