Regardless, he was surplus to requirements at Chelsea, same as Sterling seems to be.

Maatsen is young with plenty of upside potential, as witnessed last season at Dortmund.

Sterling is 30ish, on 300k a week, with 3 years left on his contract.

He also went straight to social media before his teams first game of the season to pretty much moan about his situation.

Is Sterling an option?

If he is, then its a no from me.

Was good a few years back, but whether its burn out from playing too much too young, he is half the player he used to be.

And if we are talking about sending Iling-Junior out on loan because we have too many options in his position, then I don't see the point of bringing in a trouble making has been, who sends his team out to wash his dirty laundry in public when we could just keep a young player that should be big for our future who offers us cover & competition in several areas of the pitch in Iling-Junior.

I have thought about the Iling-Junior situation since the loan chat came up in his thread & after listening to several opinions on the matter, & thinking about it some more, I have come to the conclusion that sending him out in loan would be a mistake.

In my humble opinion, of course...

Raz, as he is known to his friends, is good mates with Bailey . Having connections on and off the pitch can only be a good thing.
Sterling is seen as a brother and mentor to Bailey and having him at Villa would be good for Leon
Such is his admiration for Raheem Sterling that when he turned pro the only number he wanted on his back was 31 the shirt Sterling wore at Liverpool.

I could be good mates with all of them & have a shit nickname, but if I am shit at football, then that means the grand total of fuck all.

Not saying Sterling is shit, but he isn't as good as he used to be & bringing him & his teams ego in on big wages would be a mistake when we have several of our own players itching for a chance to play.

Sterling is way past his best but, more importantly, has a clear attitude problem.

That stuff with his 'team' going on twitter to whine about not being picked for the first match of the season was absolutely unforgiveable.

Imagine that sort of attitude landing in our dressing room. I struggle to think of a player I'd like less in that sense.

It isn't happening he is the antithesis to the Emery type of player.

Gomez rumours surfacing again. Can play anywhere across the back 4. But £40m….? Seems a little pricey.

I can’t help but think Sterling would do well, he was pretty great up to Chelsea and at international level and I think we all think the same about Chelsea. That said, his wages would have to come down and a loan would probably be best. There are also more than likely better options out there if you look. You also probably couldn’t have Gomez and Sterling as I think they had a pretty big bost up, although they might be mates again !

Ok well I do think having friendships in a team is important.

Zaha, Sterling (if Chelsea pay some of his wages) or Madueke would all be good choices.

Regards the rumour Ben Jacobs an ITK journo said :
“The last thing, interestingly that I’ve heard, which surprised me is that Aston Villa are monitoring the situation as well. Villa have lost Diaby and they wanted Joao Felix
I’m not sure it will gather legs at this point, it is very formative, but keep Villa in the back of your mind. They will be very busy in the final days of the window.
Villa and Sterling, it is whispers at the moment, I don’t want to get Villa or Chelsea fans overly excited at this stage, but that’s another name alongside Juventus to throw into the mix

Hope we don't sign Sterling.
Me neither. Madueke I wouldn’t be against.

Yeah he looks some player. I think he could be great here
He wont get any game time there now

Gomez is rubbish, isn't he?

He's decent enough backup for RCB/RB, but I wouldn't pay £40M for him.

Liverpool are entitled to ask whatever fee they like, but I think they are overestimating the interest in him, hence the very large fee.

Especially if we could get Geertruida for £25M - £30M.

He is more versatile, better technician, younger, higher potential ceiling, etc, etc.

Ok well I do think having friendships in a team is important.

Positive ones are.

But if we have the likes of Sterling & "his team" infecting Bailey & his dad with their ego, then that type of friendship is not good for the squad.

Mention of Juve above there in relation to Sterling. They've left Chiesa out of the squad at the weekend. I think I'd rather have him, let them have Sterling.

I would have rather had Archer stay - than sign Sterling
