They have to do something about these bloated squads.  It ruins the game .  We should be able to see these guys play not benched all the time

I heard a commentator say yesterday Chelsea currently have 21 players with contracts with at least six years left on them.
A graveyard of a club, for both players and managers, while Billionaires play Footall Manager with it..

Interesting to see Maresca's quotes on Chukwuemeka. Says he rates him but he needs to start 30 games a season and that's unlikely to be at Chelsea. Don't take it personally Chuck, there's another 25 players in your shoes at Cobham.

I wonder if he regrets the move? Whilst he’s more wealthy than I can imagine it does feel like a waste. By the time he gets the needed “30 games a season” he could’ve missed the most crucial learning years of his career.

Kellyman may be in the same boat too.

Kellyman may have had no say in matter

I did see someone yesterday asking what exactly the Chelsea board are trying to do, because it's looking less and less like they're trying to rebuild an actual football club.

It's utter madness. They saddled Poch with about 20 new players, then just when it looked like he was starting to get the semblance of a decent team out of the chaos, they sack him and start again with a new manager, and even more new players.

As has been pointed out, they'll be fine for as long as they can sell young players for tens of millions, but sooner or later that train is going to be derailed.

The grass isnt always greener......fuck him. he chose his bed, and is clearly not as good as he thinks he is.

I would very much doubt he gives a shit
I think it was Toni Kroos when he retired said he didn’t recognise the game anymore young players not interested in football as a priority and developing their game but more interested in money, boot deals, fashion, cars, entertainment

I’m sure Chukwuemeka and plenty of other players want to play every week but the most important thing is trousering 100k a week their actual football career and best club for their development is irrelevant compared to the financial benefits for them and their families and entourages
and that priority is what their decisions are based on

And a major point of disagreement between Poch and Chelsea apparently was that Poch didn't want to sell Gallagher. So because of their strategy, they lost a manager who was getting to grips with it and their back to square one again.

Shouldn't really give a shit really, it can only be a good thing for us that they're being run means they'll keep imploding. Just a joke of a way to run a football club.

It is so bad though that you would wonder is there something else going on. There's no way they could be doing it for 3 seasons and not have someone say, hang on, maybe we're bad at this?

To quote Kippax on a match-thread when we're hanging-on a bit - "I feel sick".

I have a little sympathy in so much as Gerrard was the manager at the time. If he had been coming through under Emery, I wonder whether he would have made the same decision. If yes, then he deserves what he gets.

I remember reading somewhere last year that Chuk is on something like £110k a week a Chelsea.  Which is, frankly, bonkers. I totally understand he was a hot prospect two years ago, but he was still only 18, with no more than a handful of first-team appearances to his name.  Putting him on a contract at double the average premier league wage, for six years, is just... crazy.

They might get a decent fee for him if they sell him (they'd certainly get their money back, and bit more), but who is going to take on that contract?  So either Chelsea will be subsidising his wages in some sort of pay off, or he's going absolutely nowhere.

At yet they are after more players and the players themselves know that and still want to join them. It’s madness.

BBC gossip column suggests Chuk maybe going to Crystal Palace. Would be a good move for all parties as they have an Olise sized hole to fill.
