It's just a version of what we've been doing, on steroids. Except we've got sensible owners and a brilliant manager so it's been done a lot more sensibly. It's exactly the same principle though.

Steroids is mild. We have done it with a plan. They have done it with 3 different managers plans, not flogged half the people they bought and now don't want, so have a squad of 50 players. There is going to be some proper bargains to be had come end of October.

Using academy sales to juice income figures is one thing, to some extent forced on us by the (rather silly) rules. It's really everything else that Chelsea do that fucks them, and there's a lot to go into but it mainly comes down to an ownership that believes that they're the smartest people in the room and everyone else is an idiot.

Chelsea can't just keep signing players surely. They have over 50 on their books. How in earth do they hit any kind of PSR model next season. Insane.
I wonder if they run out of letters for shirt personalisation in the club shop..

In Rome in 2001 I tried to get a shirt with Totti on the back (I was small), but the shop told us they were out of Ts because of Totti and Batistuta sales.

We were there over Easter, my lad wanted an Abraham shirt, but they only had 2 A's, so they tried to flog him a Dybala shirt..lol

Sky showed a graphic of the number of players that weren't even in the matchday squad and then talked about what the morale must be like there and how difficult it makes the manager's job.

I don't think it's right to compare us and Chelsea. Chelsea have a much more developed commercial operation and their strategy seems based on throwing enough shit against the wall and seeing what sticks.

Palmer and Gallagher were their best players last season and having to sell one of them shows how crazy their strategy is.

We wouldn't be selling young players if it wasn't for the rules beng designed to stop anyone new breaking up the cartel. We clearly didn't enjoy having to sell Kellyman.

Interesting to see Maresca's quotes on Chukwuemeka. Says he rates him but he needs to start 30 games a season and that's unlikely to be at Chelsea. Don't take it personally Chuck, there's another 25 players in your shoes at Cobham.

I did see someone yesterday asking what exactly the Chelsea board are trying to do, because it's looking less and less like they're trying to rebuild an actual football club.

I wonder if he regrets the move? Whilst he’s more wealthy than I can imagine it does feel like a waste. By the time he gets the needed “30 games a season” he could’ve missed the most crucial learning years of his career.

Kellyman may be in the same boat too.

I heard a commentator say yesterday Chelsea currently have 21 players with contracts with at least six years left on them.
