I do wonder how much we are now waiting on the last few days of the window to see what pops up loan wise.

@David_Ornstein

🚨 EXCL: Southampton working on deal to sign Cameron Archer from Aston Villa in permanent switch. No agreement yet but clubs in negotiations over 22yo striker + situation advancing as newly-promoted #SaintsFC look to bolster front line

Didn't pay any attention to the Championship last year. Are they any good? Is he going to end up having another season like he had in Sheffield? I suppose if we sell him with no clauses, it doesn't really matter, but you'd like to see him getting on all the same.
They blew hot and cold. A very different style of football compared to Sheff Utd.

Yeah but Russell Martin is a far more progressive manager than Gene Wilder. They sold Ched Evans to Torino didn't they, so hopefully Cam would get a good run up-front. I wonder if we'll get more or less than last summer? I'll take a stab at £16m + £2m in add-ons.

Ched Evans?!

Che Adams. Left on a free, I believe.

Although they've also signed Brereton-Diaz, who basically took Archer's place in the team from January onwards after Sheffield Utd brought him in.

Chelsea linked with Sancho now. Surely they won't sign him and Felix?

Yes Southampton are attacking in nature, wouldn't be surprised to see Adam Armstrong, Archer and Diaz all up there.
Saints main problem will be defence as well to win games and stay up.

In relation to Villa and Cameron return it's scheduled on 7th December at Villa Park.

In relation to transfers incoming then I suspect this sale will allow for another transfer in which expected to be high level and ready for the team.
Exciting in that respect but good luck to Archer!

I suspect the Archer sale will ensure we get Gertrude signed up.

I'd hope that one is tied to Carlos going and this one means we see a proper big name forward/10 like Felix or similar.

I think we need to replace Carlos even if he doesn’t leave (if u know what I mean) an upgrade

I agree with that. Somebody with a bit of zip about them too, as Carlos had excellent recovery speed, but is way too inconsistent.

His running style was really funny.

In fact, I am sure it still is.

We haven't got room in the squad to carry 5 centre backs though, especially given Bogarde looks perfectly placed to be a fifth option there for 'free' in terms of squad places.

I think Carlos is gone anyway and Geertruida as his replacement looks like it'll be announced before long.

Archer going to make way for John Lucky, as Duran is staying?
